From the Sporting News today

Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini, (idiot- I inserted here), has told the team who will start at quarterback against Minnesota, but he has asked everyone who knows to keep it a house secret. (are you serious you clown)
Mangini says his background as a defensive coordinator tells him it’s a pain in the butt to prepare for two quarterbacks, and that is what he intends to make Brad Childress do. (I believe Childress could care less moron)

Every decipherable sign, including body language in the locker room today, points to Brady Quinn getting the nod over Derek Anderson. (Remember when we could have got a 1st and 3rd for him)

It remains to be seen whether Quinn, who hasn’t opened a season as “the man” since 2006 at Notre Dame, can translate his outward poise and confidence to the field. The best indication Quinn can handle pressure is his first NFL start, in Game 9 of the 2008 season. Facing a Thursday night duel against Jay Cutler, Quinn threw for 239 yards, two TDs and no interceptions. His best drive came in the final minutes when he engineered a 78-yard TD drive to provide a 30-27 lead.

It’s the only real example of what Quinn might be, in that he suffered a broken finger a week later in a 29-27 win at Buffalo and played in only one more game. Quinn’s big game against Denver came in Cleveland, so that was some proof he won’t press in front of a home crowd.

Mangini was supposed to have told the quarterbacks of his decision before today’s practice. Quinn and Anderson both played it cool with their body language during the time the media was allowed in.

Earlier, in the locker room, Quinn seemed to have an extra bounce in his step.

FOX TV seems to know. This is what the TV guide says about the game Sunday:

NFL FootballNFL Football Minnesota Vikings at Cleveland Browns from Cleveland Browns Stadium Gus Frerotte leads Adrian Peterson and the Vikings in their first game of the regular season against Derek Anderson, D'Qwell Jackson and the Browns.

Gus Frerotte???Hahahaha

Heard from another site that DA took all the snaps with the 1st team today.

O&BR

Gumshoe-are you an insider at O & B R? I'm not but a friend is. The story is that the media was allowed access to the first 30 minutes of practice. During that time Anderson took all the snaps with the first team. Most suspect that it was just a "show" for the media.

Well Fort you beat me to it, NFL Live is reporting that Brady Quinn has been named starting QB for the Cleveland Browns for the season opener. A decison that everyone seemed to know had to be the right one except the new coach. As I have said in the past, we might still suck with Quinn at QB and Quinn might not be THE ONE but I already know what Anderson gives us and that is nothing more than a decent back-up. Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition!

Who will throw more TD passes to Browns receivers this week?

Brady Quinn or Brett Favre

Sunday starts a new season and hopefully Quinn will be starting. With that, will Gumshoe start a new thread. This one has a lot of painful memories.
