Delphos St. John 0
Patrick Henry 5

DSJ had chances to score early but couldn't get the big hit all game, the defense also had 4 or 5 errors leading to at least 3 unearned for the Pats.

Adam Greer finished it up, Phillips pitched 6 and a 3rd.

TC pitcher if I heard right was the coach's son.

PH pitched Reese.

Congrats to the Jeffcats as they win run-rule in 5. This might allow Rahrig to have some more innings tomorrow also, so good news all around for them as they look to go back to state for first time since 1931 !!

If he was a short lefthander it would be the coaches's son Jake Ridenhour. I know Jake and his dad Ron. Ron pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers. Botjer will pitch for PH tomorrow. I would like to come over and watch. Should be a good game. thumbup1.gif

Patrick Henry has had the easiest tournament path in the history of sports.

I would have to agree with Teddy on this one.....but its not due to the fact that they play easy teams which is not the case because one things for sure... Van Buren is a very good ball club....but to have homefield advantage in a regional tournament is just plain ludicrous! YES their field it one of the best in NW ohio, but for them to be playing on their home field is like a royal flush in a game of poker...its obvious that they have one of the best advantages a team could have, I don't care what you think, there is a HUGE advantage when playing on ones field when it comes to a crunch time like playing in the Regionals. I wish OHSAA would do something about this situation, because it happens in every sport! Sectionals, districts, regionals....besides going to state where its always a neutural playing surface....One team is going to have an advantage by playing a tournament game on their home field. I just wish some people could use some common sense and at least TRY to make it even no matter how good or bad a team is....there just shouldn't be home field advantage when it comes tournament time.
Put 'em on the bus!!!!

Let's see...should the DIV Regional been moved? Maybe. I heard that the AD even asked the OHSAA about it. Would it have made a difference? Doubtful. I think when you score 18 runs, the Pats could have been playing anywhere and it wouldn't matter.
If some of these other schools decide to put in the hard work that the coaching staff, parents and school staff did to make the PH field as nice as it is, then they can host a regional.
I know, I know..the PH people would be screaming if we had to go play a regional on someone's home field, but in the end, I really don't think it would have mattered. Its over, its done and the Patriots are going to state!
Go Patriots!

But, it should have been moved for both games they played there. They played there on Thursday night as well. And that was only a six run game.
I think the music was a little much. Did they win because of motivational songs... NO. But just announcing would have been enough to make it be more like a nuetral playing field for both teams.

Patrick Henry would have felt the same way if they went to Delphos & could not take in a cooler with drinks for their son, & then had to listen to
overbearing music with planned parent clapping cheers as well.

The OHSAA is to blame here, and hopefully it will be changed in the future.

They play music between batters for every game...not just PH games. Did you stay and watch the VB/ TC game? Same music, same sound effects. They did not do any kind of cheers for PH fans. Actually, DSJ fans had more spirit then PH did, which is usually the case with our fans.

And for the record, PH's home dugout is the third base dugout. But the state recognizes the 1st base side as the home side, so PH had to use that dugout which they NEVER do.

The cooler of drinks is not allowed by anyone, PH or other teams. Thats what the concession stand is for. You are way off base in your complaints.

The home field for regionals shouldn't happen, but that was just the icing. PH didn't play a team with a winning record until the regional final! And the regional was filled with teams that have no tradition, even if Van Buren or Toledo Christian is having a good season. Must be nice...

PH fans would have erupted had they played a regional game on the opposing team's home field. That should NEVER happen.

All you can do is beat the teams that are next on the brackets. I agree that the State should've switched the regionals with Elida. I have no idea why they didn't, but they didn't. PH would've beat any of these teams wherever they played.

Hey Oberhaus, Check out the Blanchard Valley Buzz, fans upset with PH's kids. I thought LB was the only school disliked but again PH wins too muchtoo. I believe last I checked PH was rated number 1 in state. VB was not going to beat PH, no matter if the game was on VB's field.

Typical PH arrogance......it's just come to be expected.......their players.....their fans.....even their radio announcers. I think the biggest ilustration of it this week by far was their girl's softball coach though. He was quoted in the Defiance Crescent this week before their game with Antwerp that they had faced as good or much better pitching than Bryn Schlatter, and that there was no way it was going to be a 1-0 or 2-1 game with the mighty Patriot hitting. Well guess what? He was right...........Antwerp kicked their ass 11-0.......run ruled in 5 innings!!!!! Blatent disrespect for an opponent..........and a two time all state pitcher. Antwerp didn't really need the added incentive that Monk threw their way. You would think that someone that has been around sports as long as he has would know better than that!!! I was embarrassed for him. As for PH baseball..........I haven't seen their field, but I've heard it's gorgeous. I'm sure they have worked very very hard on it and I think they definitely deserve to host a Regional........just not the one they are participating in......that is just not right in my opinion.
