Gray Horn of Waynesfield-Goshen and future Florida Gator won the Nike Indoor pentathlon in Landover, Maryland today. The indoor pentathlon consists of five events, 60 meter hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot put, and 1000 meters. He ran an 8.34 in the hurdles, jumped 21-4 in long jump, 6-5.5 in the high jump, threw the shot 44-11, and ran a pedestrian 2:56 in the 1000

(I chide him continously on his last event times in decath and pentath). He needed a 2:36 in the 1000 to break the points record, but when he came through the 800 at 2:15, he eased up to ensure his points victory rather than tear up any muscles in preparation for outdoor season. Congratulations Gray and good luck this season in outdoor. Fans are looking foward to the matchup between Nickles and him at Waynesfield-Goshen on April 15. Liberty Benton will also be present at this meet. It will be a chance to see some fine DIII athletes in an intimate setting.
