This college football season is what sports is all about. Competition and never knowing who`s going to win until the final minutes tick off the clock........ Only frontrunners like dominant teams every year. And my question is, are frontrunner really fans? Or are they just losers trying to identify themselves with winners?
No offense, but in my opinion this has been the worst college football season I have ever witnessed. I actually fell asleep at 8:30 tonight, not caring or the least bit interested in the outcome of a single game.
There has to be a "king of the mountain." Either a team everyone loves or hates sitting at the top who keeps winning and has a foothold on the prize.
This has been PATHETIC. In all honsety if this is the way college football is going, I'll slowly drift away just as I have done from college basketball.

I wouldn't say this has been the worst but it has been fun watching teams fall and slide on what you refer to as "King of the Mountain". And your dead on when you say..."Either a team everyone loves or hates sitting at the top who keeps winning and has a foothold on the prize." The media loves hating Ohio State. I have never seen a better "Love to hate" relationship in college football. Yet somehow, since Tressel has come to OSU, this team somehow keeps finding a way to get to the top.

And Vic, if I were rooting for the Wolverines I would lose interest too.

Has nothing to do with that.
Ohio St clearly belongs in the title game. The best quality opponent out there based on their body of work is LSU. You could also make a case for Oklahoma, USC, Va Tech or even Georgia. I think it will end up being OSU - LSU
My problem is we were almost treated with Missouri - West Virginia Which would have been horrendous.

Georgia - Didn't win the conf. title, didn't even play for it. How can you put them in?
Kansas - See above
LSU - Won the conf title but lost to two teams that end the season unranked, I do believe
USC - Lost to Stanford but have steamrolled everyone the last several weeks
Oklahoma - Lost to Colorado on the LAST PLAY and lost to Texas Tech by a TD when their QB was out injured
Virginia Tech - Lost to Boston College once, but redeemed themselves yesterday in winning the ACC championship. Can't even think of who the other loss was to, and I have no desire to look. But...yeah...its the ACC, c'mon!
Arizona State - When facing good competition, they couldn't hack it.
Hawaii - Is someone SERIOUSLY gonna push for them to be in the National Championship game?
West Virginia - Lost to South Florida and Pitt yesterday. I still think the Big East is a horrid conference, ahead of MAYBE the ACC. But thats just me.
Missouri - You lost twice to Oklahoma, you are done.
Am I missing anyone here? Just wondering. LSU, USC, Oklahoma, or Virginia Tech have the best claim to it, I would have to say. And after watching Oklahoma roll last night, I am thinking they may be the best team. But a USC-Ohio State match-up could definitely be intriguing if only because it'll be played next season, I think, anyway.

how about how the refs repeatedly tried to screw Pitt last night!
money hungry bcs school presidents continue to screw over college football.
at least give us the plus one system
take the Bucks and the points against LSU in New Orleans!
Oklahoma owns Missouri but is not a NC team.
Could a country full of BigTen bias screw the bucks and make it USC vs LSU?
If michigan doesn't hire Brian Kelly they deserve their fate as the 2nd place team in the bigten. Les Miles was this years Nick Saban balloned up by the media. If we had listened to the media, Glen Mason would have been our coach!
the media. RIP Sean Taylor

Vic.
Sorry you feel that way, but in all honesty I`ll bet you every Ohio State fan in America would disagree with your assessment that this is the worst college football season ever. But then again if the tables were turned and this was Michigan sitting at the top of this sloped mountain I`m might feel the opposite too.
I have one problem with your statement that there has to be a dominant team every year. I totally disagree, respectfully with that claim. You know not in every sport and every season that dominant team wins it all.
The Yankees are hated and some times seem dominant during the regular season, but they don`t win it every year. Just ask Alex Rodriguez?
How many times has a team in the college ranks or pro seemed dominant then come up short in the end? Probably more than we think. The favorites don`t always come out on top and in my opinion that`s the beauty of sports in general.
So I have to ask you this question, if the dominant team doesn`t finish the job and get crowned the King, is it then a pathetic, bad season? If that`s the case then there`s been so many wasted seasons in the sports world.
I`m leaving right now to go up town and have a little round table meeting with some of my Michigan buddy`s and I totally expect to hear some of the exact same comments from them. Weak year, there`s nobody out there and so on. But you know what, I`m 100% sure that they`d love this if this were their Wolves sitting in the top spot like the Buckeyes are today. And you know what, they had it in their grasp until Appy State strolled into Ann Arbor.
I respect everything your saying, but all in all I have a feeling many of your words are charged by the fact that the Michigan - OSU rivalry has left a bad taste in your mouth over the years. I mean, if this were some other team sitting at the top would you care? Probably not as much right?

OSU's the one who had the BETTER team last year and got thumped 41-14. Trust me, I'm happy being a Wolverine. If Michigan were in the position to play for the title I would be singing the same tune, I don't wear bliders and know when they're good or not. BTW Florida 52-10 should they play in their bowl game.
I have no problem with Ohio St being in the title game, but this season proves parity is here to stay and that is not a good thing in my opinion. For the Big 10 and Michigan it may be good due to how weak the conference presently is. UM will be back, I'm not concerned about them and their shots at the title. They had their shot lost year and would have went out and got embarrassed more than OSU did.
My point on the dominant team thing is there needs to be ONE. Not to win the title but to get there. You know as well as I do nobody would have been too excited had West Virginia beat Missouri for the NC. This year reminds me of the BYU and Georgia Tech National Title years.
Next year SHOULD be awesome. Ohio St, Oklahoma, Georgia and USC should all be loaded. I'll be stunned if one of those 4 don't win it all. I'm just of the opinion that what we are witnessing this year is going to become very common.
Can't you agree that Ohio St vs ? is pretty anti-climatic this way? I wish they would have run the table frankly.

This is what Buckeye Fan can't seem to fathem. Objectivity.
I stated way back when that OSU would lose one of their final 3 games. Either Wisconsin, Illinois or Michigan.
The reason I said I wished they would have run the table is stated in my above post.
Buckeye Fan needs to wake up and realize that there is more than one team in the country and more than one conference in the country. Sit down in front of your TV and watch some other teams instead of watching scores, drinking beer, and singing ****** Michigan songs.
Michigan's the bar and it's set on 3'6"
Wise up

I actually liked college football this it kept me interested and watching alot more game then just big ten games. OSU desrves to be in the games because there the only team in the top ten that has been consistent in win there games besides Hawaii. I think they'll be playing LSU or OU. I would like to see OU instead of LSU there offense looks better and there defense looks better also. The biggest I've seen watching LSU is that they play really sloppy. They have alot of turn overs and commit way to many penalites and thats what killed them in there 2 losses. I would also like to see OU because playing LSU in new orleans is hardly a neutral game it would be like making a bowl game called the trojan good luck bowl played at the horse shoe for the NC.
I wouldn't mind the a play off system but I think that it should a 8 team format at the most. With an 8 team play off you could still save the bowl system which will give the small confrence school something to play for.

Georgia didn't win their division of the SEC
LSU and OU won their conf championships but LSU's schedule was tougher.
