Michigan catch about half of those dropped passes, they may have had the lead at the end. But, they dropped them. It was amusing to watch at times. Michigan really never looked like they came to play. Final score only 14-3, but Ohio State probably could have put on a few more TDs if they hadn't gone into "run the clock" mode in the middle of the third quarter.

To be truthful I don't think either team was that impressive. Wells and Gholston gave us some excitement but as for the game itself, it was somewhat boreing in my opinion. Just happy the Bucks pulled out a win.

Yeah, the game got pretty boring once Tressel starting milking the clock with about 10 minutes to go in the freakin' 3rd quarter. I know I was listening to some postgame shows and there was talk about how kind Tressel was in not putting up the 28+ points Ohio State could have easily put up had Tressel so desired. It was really lopsided in Ohio State's favor, and I'll take it.

That said. Don't make yourself look foolish. You did watch the game, correct?
How exactly was he going to blow that game open? ANY time Boeckman dropped back he got pressured and made mistakes or short passes. You weren't going to get anything downfield that would have resulted in a quick strike. They ran because they could and because they had to.
I am very proud of Henne for trying to play but in reality he should not have. They were forced to change their gameplan and that was very disappointing.

Not making myself look foolish. Just repeating the fact that Michigan looked like crap and the "media pundits" noted it. My apologies for not requiring a Beltone or and prosthetic hand in order to use my capabilities to "listen and repeat."

By not playing so conservatively. I mean, hell, they were pretty much started "running clock" with 12 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter! I mean, hell, Tressel punted twice in the 3rd quarter from inside the Michigan 40 yard line! Michigan gained 10 yards or more on a drive only TWICE! Boeckman only even attempted 2 passes in the 2nd half! Why bother passing when Michigan isn't doing much to stop your rush, anyway. It was clear Michigan wasn't going to be much competition, so Tressel just went ahead and said "let's get the game over with put them out of their misery (of being associated with Michigan in the first place)".
Michigan underachieved this year. I said after their first two losses of the season that they would still go and win the Big Ten. So I kept picking them to win. Hell, had them yesterday in the Yahoo pick 'em. However, they didn't. Injuries caught up to them and yesterday showed a lovely problem with catching passes in inclement weather.

You feel he went into shutdown mode, which he did in a sense. There were two occassions, possibly 3 where I thought he might go for it on 4th down. The first was in the 1st quarter on the opening possession, but why give UM momentum at that point if you don't get it? The 2nd was in the 3rd quarter at the 34 yard line on 4th & 5, and the 3rd time was also in the 3rd quarter at the 39 on 4th & 8. I'm sorry but those aren't high percentage situations. OSU's defense was playing great, why not pin UM deep?

Well, all I know is everything I am reading and hearing is talking about how OSU dominated the game and the final score could easily have been much worse. And it is very apparent.

Tressel was playing the game to win. The margin of victory meant nothing to him. With field conditions being wet and slippery he in no way wanted to put Boeckman or the Buckeyes in any position that a turnover or 2 would put the game in jeopardy. All I`m going to say is this, remember the Michigan State game. A couple of quick turnovers here and there and it`s a whole new outlook on the game. Also the Buckeyes had momentum to control the game, give a team a turnover and old mo can change in a heartbeat.
Any good coach has to have a feel for the game. And that`s the reason why Tressel is the coach at OSU and not the rest of us. It`s so easy to sit in our living rooms and think we have everything figured out. But Tressel knows his team better than anyone on the planet. By the way, I`m just glad they got the "W" now we can wait for other teams to fall and hope that the Buckeyes can climb back up the ladder about 3 positions.

was a good game and all, glad we won, but at least could have been alot better game to watch!!!!!!

Victorian and I don't agree on much but I can see we are on the same page here.........Coach Tressel did what he knows best.....run run run and play DEFENSE like no other..........that is a pretty good formula for success just ask Oregon and Oklahoma..........yeah they both lost thier QB's but their defenses were PATHETIC and that is why they lost those games.........the same reason OSU lost to Illinois the defense couldn't get off the field for 8 minutes plus to end that game.....I know Boeckman threw 3 picks but turovers are part of the game and great teams find ways to over come them.........in case you are wondering I bleed scarlet and gray.....

I really don't think Bandido said anything any different than what I have been repeating. It could have been worse, but Tressel was content to win, as am I. I am fine with a 14-3 win. It was as much of a blowout win as any 14-3 game could ever be, really. I am not calling for there to be 45 points put up on the board, just stating that there could have easily been more than just 14. I'm not reading anything different in Bandido's post than what I have already posted or insinuated.
