LCC and Columbus Grove will be hosting a "Volley for the Cure", Thursday Oct 4th. at LCC. We would love to have all the NWC volleyball fans in attendance for this special match. Both schools have been working hard to raise money for this very important fund raiser. Please come and enjoy the night as two great teams battle it out and you can take a chance to win some really great raffle items too.

So stop in to LCC Thursday night Oct 4th at 6pm. (Don't forget to wear PINK!!)

Good luck with the fundraiser, 4me.....Can we send something to the school & it make it's way to you? I've had an unreasonable amount of bad luck as far as injuries this last week & can't go anywhere for a while... Let me know please, and again best wishes on a great turn-out! Thanks to all those that have volunteered their time & goods to make this event happen.

Good luck to both teams, as well & may they both remain injury free for their matches!

There are Volley For a Cure volleyball events going on at various venues during the month of October. It it a very creative idea and kudos to the originator! Most schools will be participating in at least one!

My statement earlier before it got deleted: I am wondering why both teams where the pink shirts w/ the white lettering. Couldn't one team where white w/ pink lettering? I saw a pic in a newspaper the other day and I couldn't tell the teams apart.

That is a good ideal WonB. I wonder if any teams have done this.

CatsA is correct, many schools are doing this fund raiser for the cure, but not just in Oct. There has been quite a few held in Sept also. I don't know of any other NWC schools doing it so I thought it would be fun to invite all the NWC to attend!!

What an absolutely awesome idea and fundraiser! If you have to opportunity to help out in any way for one of these local events, please do it. Even if it is just going to that game and paying the admission to get in. Some schools are donating half of the gate to the cause. If your school is not doing it this year, find out information to do it next year.

If you don't know anyone who has been affected by this disease yet, count yourself lucky. Some day you will.

Vball officials were also offered the pink shirts. You'll see more games throughout the rest of the season with the players, coaches and officials with them on.

WNOBulldog - only pink as color -- what I heard was less expensive to make all of them one color. Who would get to wear the pink? Or wear the white? Teams will be wearing these as both home and away -- teams (patents or schools) should not have to pay for 2 shirts. I think most fans know which side of the net their team is on!

I think it has looked great! The bright pink has made a lot of impact -- great for the cause!

Well, even for substitution purposes...the libero always wears a different colored uniform than his/her teammates so that the referee can see that the person is the libero and is allowed to substitute freely. Does the libero wear a different color from the pink? Home team could always wear pink and road always wear white. Its how it works for football games and basketball and all sorts of other sports. It wouldn't be too difficult getting two $10 shirts purchases instead of just one, considering the volleyball tights and shoes and knee pads, etc. that are already being purchased. Either way, goes to a good cause, but just confuses me seeing snapshots in the newspapers where both teams are wearing the same color. Even funnier is if the pic includes a shot of both #5's (for example) from a team and the girls look similar. Just amusing...

I had to laugh about something I heard on the radio about Catholic schools in Cincinnati not being allowed to play in these types of games because some of the funds going into whichever Breast Cancer Research fund it was going to (I can only guess Susan G. Komen) also donated money to planned parenthood. So they had to get assurance that none of the money raised would be going towards that, since the Catholic Church doesn't believe in what goes on at Planned Parenthood.

Oh, and I guess I should know the answer to this one because Slice, in her everlasting quest to find out information about me, thinks that I live in the lovely confines of the city of Greenville, Ohio, located in said County of Darke. Perhaps maybe she even thinks that I live next to that house that was all over the news nationally where a 10 year old got arrested for arson and five counts of felony murder.

See Slice, now I am even incorporating local news into the facade! smile.gif Pulled any hair out yet?

Congrats to LCC and Columbus Grove. The two teams raised just ovcer $17,000.00 for the Breast Cancer Susan Komen Foundation. While I don't have any totals from other teams in the area, I would have to say this is quite impressive!! Both teams worked hard and it was a great fun filled night! Deanna Betts from LCC and her sister from CG deserve a huge Thank You for heading this!!
