Who cares! So they kept their whole team together and beat up on a bunch of J.v players. They held back some good players from playing legion ball and being seen by college scouts.

Just curious B-cat......did you feel the same way last year when Bath basically took the same type of team to the state tournament? As I recall, there were plenty of Legion caliber players on that team also.......Stewart, McKinney, Jenkins, Sterling. Did you have a problem with them playing ACME? How about a few years back when Bobby Deppe led Bath to the state championship? Did you have a problem with that? Bobby didn't even play for them most of the season and then came back and played at tournament time. I have way more of a problem with that than I do a group of kids that stayed together all summer and is making a nice tournament run. Look at the list of winners and runners-up from the state ACME tournament over the last decade or so and you see a bunch of teams that come from outstanding baseball programs. Defiance, Coldwater, Patrck Henry, Bellefontaine and Toledo Start have all had a ton of success and I'm sure they did it with their varsity players. When I hear people talk about these schools, I hear alot of positive things about their programs and how good they are. Who wouldn't want to emulate that kind of success?

Shawnee typically doesn't make much noise in baseball and when they finally have a group of kids that is decent, you want to diminish what they have accomplished. It is obviously just sour grapes on your part. I'm sure you're really concerned with whether or not any of these players gets seen by college scouts.

Congrats to Shawnee on making it to state and good luck next weekend........

First off i do care if those boys get seen by college's.I like the three boy's i'm talking about they are good player's. But as you see McKinney and Sterling didn't join up with the team for the tourney like they could have.Last year those two could have gone to play legion but it is more common to be at least a junior to play
.

From District 4....

Coldwater beat Van Wet 11-3 and advanced to the District Championship vs. New Bremen.

New Bremen beats Coldwater 5-3 to advance to the State Tournament in Bryan. Both teams scored all of their runs in the 3rd inning. Coldwater had the bases loaded with 1 out in the 7th without scoring a run.

Shawnee eliminated Perrysburg 4-1. Excellent pitching performance by Kopilchack, Strawn and Collier. They now play Northmont tomorrow night at 7:00 for the right to play Defiance in the state finals on saturday.

Defiance won 5-0 for the state title. Big hit in the fifth by James Frey. He hit a triple to drive in two i think. thumbup1.gif
