Ok, An 8th grader from Arlington high school long jumped 17'1 and a half inches at CR junior high track meet. In the end she beat out not only the girls, but she beat out the guys by a whole foot. She wasnt just thinking first over the girls, but the guys as well. So far this year in high school, I have only seen one other girl break the 16 foot mark, and this girl from arlington is an 8th grader!!!!

Very impressive indeed....Is there anything in print anywhere we could read up on this? Prolly not, considering she is an 8th grader...Great job to her! thumbup1.gif

She should compete in the middle school track & field state championships. The record is 16' 1''.25

yes, the girl's name is Taylor Beck, and she also beat all of the boys once again at the Junior High BVC meet in Hardin Northern. she is a great athlete, she also won the 400 with a 1:03. That time is faster than most high school girls run it around here. congrats to Taylor and I hope she keeps improving the next four years smile.gif

It's too bad her family moved from Mt.Blanchard to Arlington. We would have loved to have her still be at Riverdale. Good luck to Taylor as she is going to be a great track performer for our area to watch.

Falconfan - why did I know that post was coming? Taylor Beck will be very, very good when it is all said and done. Her father is from Mt. Blanchard but that is the only tie to Riverdale really.

I believe I remember similar postings on the other board about families/kids that used to live in Riverdale now residing in Arlington.

Hey, what can I say, I love my Falcons.

Anyway, being at one time from Mt. Blanchard had NOTHING to do with Taylor being a good athlete. It's just that it would have been nice to have had her talents at our school. Our loss is Arlington's gain. Good luck to her in her high school career. I know her father (he went to school with my brother), and he is a nice guy. Taylor started kindergarten with my son at Riverdale, and we were sad to see them leave our school district. It is always sad to see quality families leave a small school district.
