Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.

Gray Horn of Waynesfield-Goshen is easily one of the best pole vaulters (if not the best) in Ohio and among the best in the country. As a sophomore he beat defending state champion Shane Shockey of Bluffton and taking the gold medal at the D-III state meet. His PR is 15'9" and he has cleared 16' many times in practice.
He also is one of the best decathletes in his age group in the nation. He was recently 2nd at the Nike Indoor pentathlon (which didn't include the PV). He won a heptathlon event competing against all college heptathletes in January at the University of Findlay. He is being considered to compete at the the Pan Am games and on the junior national team in Beijing at the world championships this summer. He still has work to do to be a medalist at that level, but he if continues to progress he could be one of the best our country has produced in the decathlon.
He has the interest of many D-I track programs in the country, such as Oregon, Kansas State, Texas, Kent State, Ohio State, and Louisville to name a few.

Gray Horn, indeed is an outstanding T&F athlete....Watched him at state, & OG last year & was quite a thrill to watch each time...Best wishes to him & continued success.....
And I wanted to add that Shane Shockey was injured last year when it was time for state...Not taking anything away from Gray, whatsoever, but was just pointing out that he was not in top condition.
Any info on how Horn is doing season so far? My daughter is out with an injury so I'm not up to speed on what's happenening in the track world like I normally am.

Gray is side-lined for the moment with an ankle sprain - with good rehab he hopes to be ready to compete at the district.

Amanda Barlage vaulted 12' 3 the other night. I heard it was some type of state record, maybe for D3?
