How good does OSU football look for 07? I think right now I would put them around 9th.

i believe wells is coming back but defense will be all osu has goin for them, they are losing almost ALL their offensive weapons, they might be top 10 to start season but might drop quick at their first loss

The O-line should be pretty strong, their receivers should still be solid with hartline, robiskie, and small. The running game should be one of the better ones. I think the only question mark is QB. I look for them to compete for an other big ten championship.

QB will be questionable and the running game solid...we will go back to the Buckeyes of a couple years ago..not many big plays in the passing game and 3-4 yards at a time...

After losing Ginn, Gonzo, Smith, and Pittman, the offense would take a step back. But with Small, Robiskie, Hartline, and Wells returning i dont think the offense will be that bad. The position to look at will be Quarterback, like you said Joe.

I think Wells has the potential to win the Heisman before he leaves or graduates...as long as he runs well the team will do well. Hopefully hang around the top 5-10.

The defense is going to be awesome. Most of the defensive starters are back. Ohio State usually has a pretty good quarterback so I am not worried. I would rank them in the top 15 in the nation.

i think espn ranked them with the 16th draft class...you think this is low because the loss in the national championship...i cant remember the last time osu was that low in the drafting classes

Take a look at OSU's schedule for next year...last time I checked, they aren't playing too much solid competition outside of the Big Ten. They could seriously get thru the season with 2 losses or less.

espn ranked OSU that low because they only signed 15 players, which is the least amount of players in the in the top 25. Last year osu had the 13th ranked recruiting class, and in 03 they were ranked 25th. As far as ranking the recruiting classes, don't pay a whole lot of attention to it. As long as they are in the top 25, it then comes down to coaching, and getting the most out of the player. I believe that tressel does a pretty good job at it.

At last years high school camp there was alot of coaches talking to the kids about Chris Wells. A few even went as far as saying he will be the next Archie Griffin. Hopefully they know what they are talking about.

I was reading in this weeks issue of Buckeyes Sport Bullentin that the cfreshmen lass of 08 is really shaping up. Mike Adams from Dublin announced he will be a Buckeye in the fall of 08 and it's very hopeful that now since he as made his choice Micheal Brewster and Jake Stoneburner will be following.

As for the ESPN ranking...do any of you really listen to them? They had Osu as the underdog tonight for the 1st round. At the most...ESPN is good for a laugh!!

Somehow I find that hard to believe. I think you misread. That, or they misposted.

Ah...my bad...I just always assume the website. Always forget about the radio. Perhaps she doesn't understand all the point spread lingo or whatever. Who knows. Ohio State won, that's all that matters! biggrin.gif

Who do you think will end up starting at QB? My guess is that it is between Boeckman and Shoenfelt (Spelling?), who I believe was from Saint X, although I don't really know who the scouts were leaning towards. Thanks.

In the Big 10, fine. They should come real close to running the table up until the Michigan game.

As for playing with the big boys.........well, last year they were the greatest OSU team in school history and wound up with 82 yards of offense and got BLASTED by 27 in the NC game.

And this year they won't be that good so it could get ugly come the Michigan game and their bowl game.

Side note: The Florida/Ohio St NC game last year was one of the most lopsided college football games I have ever witnessed.

Vic if that was one of the most lopsided games you have ever witnessed then you need to start watching more Hawaii games.

Buckeyes should be decent last year, but like someone said before it will be back to the conservative buckeyes we all used to love. Defense should be solid losing only 2 this year. On offense, Wells (the good one, not the 150 pound water boy they have running the ball from time to time) should be good, if his break away run in the michigan was any indication of things to come. At QB there is really a toss up. Boeckman or schoenhoft could get it, and even Antonio Henton is in the mix. From what I've heard Henton is like Troy Smith but hes farther along in his development as a QB right now than Troy was (just what I've heard, not sure if its true). Receivers are a big if. We have Hartline and Robiske and Small, but none of them is a proven #1 target. It could be like the NC game where itll be hard to find anyone open.

I just hope tOSU can compete in the Big 10 this year and beat Michigan. Vic I dunno how you can say that about OSU after OSU won 5 outta the last 6.
I wanted to have a career in sports when I was young, but I had to give it up. I'm only six feet tall, so I couldn't play basketball. I'm only 190 pounds, so I couldn't play football. And I have 20-20 vision, so I couldn't be a referee. ~Jay Leno

Yes, Ohio State definitely has a chance to be undefeated going into the Michigan game, but I fear that inexperience on offense won't allow that to happen. Just not too much there to get in the way that you can say SHOULD be a loss.
