Who will be some of the top pitchers in the county this spring? I know Ft. Loramie, Russia, and Anna are all pretty deep in the pitching department. But can anybody give me some information on some of the top 2-3 pitchers from each county school?

Anna
Jace Finkenbine
Eric May
Zach Clark
Jackson Center
Not really sure
Botkins
Ryan Luegers
Travis Dietz
Russia
Brooke Schafer
Jordan Monnin
Cayle McEldowny
Fairlawn
I don't know if they have a pitcher
Houston
Matt Kiehl
Matt Poeppelman
Ft. Loramie
Jordan Goldschmidt
Derek Coverstone
Ryan Schemmel

That's a guess on everyones top 2 or 3. could be different for some, like Houston. I'm not real sure if Poeppelman will pitch because he's the only catcher. Anna, Russia and Loramie definitely have the best depth.

Anna: Finkinbine, May

Botkins: Leugers... but they have 2 other guys who are decent

Fairlawn: I heard they were just going to let the other team hit off a tee

Fort Loramie: Goldschmit, Schemmel (o yea), coverstone i hear isnt to bad

Houston: Keihl, and some younger kid.. Pop's if he doesnt catch all year

JC: Trent Mann? i dont no if they have anyone else

Russia: Schafer, McEldowney, Monnin

Russia and Anna have the deepest pitchign staffs with both teams having about 5 or 6 pitchers who are solid, but Botkins and Loramie have the top 2 pitchers of the league.
Build it, and they will come...

Goldschmidt had 2 no hitters last year and Coverstone also threw one against Covington. I think he might get the nod in the other county games before Schemmel. Then they have no catcher. Interesting....

The only team with enough explosive and quality pitchers is Ft. Loramie. You only need to real good pitchers, and that is Goldschmidt, and Coverstone. Loramie also has the hitters to get some run support for the pitchers. Loramie is solid all around. Botkins only has leugers, Russias pitchers arent that good, Jackson Center has nothing, Anna is the only other team with a few decent pitchers. Houston will have no pitching, and Fairlawn, well they prob will have to bring some junior high kids up just to field a team. SO Loramie and Anna have the best chance to get far in the tourny

Matt Kiehl is a senior, Cayle McEldowny a Junior, and I'm pretty sure March is a Senior, but he could be a junior as well.

If I remember correctly, I would say that McEldowny is the best of them all. More of a crafty left, but a good one. Kiehl and March throw strikes and get the job done. McEldowny is definitely the best of the three, but it could be because he has a much better team behind him.

that always helps. if you can throw strikes with a good defence around you you can be very sucessful.

That is a very true comment whodey, as long as the pitcher is keeping the ball down and locating his pitches well he just has to have the defense behind him to back him up. It is not about how fast u throw or how hard itt is all about locating ur pitches, keeping it down, and a solid defense behind ya

Thsoe word cant be more truth full, i dont care if a guy cna throw a 90 mph fast ball or have a curve ball that breaks 3 feet, if they cant hit the mit, they are no god on the mound.

that is for sure. i have seen kids throw 70 and do better than kids that throw 90 just because they dont walk people. walks always come back to haunt you somehow.

for Houston..
1)Poppelman
then after that wouldnt rly count on kiehl bein number 2..
possibly grilliot
but people should possibly watch out for sophmore Josh Cornette who has a freshman last yr pitched varsity..
then 2 freshman who will probably pitch varisty this year to will be Joe Gordon (will be catcher when Poppelman pitches) then possibly zach kiehl

htownballer, have you even watched any of the varsity games last year, and if you are who i think you are, than you haven't. Kiehl will be the ace this year for Houston. Poeppleman pictched only 3 innings last year, so for him to the best is a long shot. Grilliot only pitched in ACME because he had to because Kiehl and his brother were on vacation. You are right with the Gordon boy though he may pitch quite well for varsity along with Kiehl's little brother. I think Houston's real problem will be there hitting, due to limited time because of basketball...again!

I agree with you catfan, I think houston will have plenty of pitchers. The problem will most likely be their hitting. With three of their star players coming of basketball with not much practice.
