Well warrior, many people have different thoughts on this as it depends on each runners particular attributes. Some are better distance runners, which requires stamina, others strengths lay in speed at shorter distances.
My specialty was the 800. A middle of the road race, which many arguably state is the hardest because it is between a sprint & distance run, & that you need to particular strategy in, in order to do well & win. I, myself, never had a strategy to my 800, much to my coaches dismay. My philosophy was, & still is; "Run FAST & turn LEFT!!"

See you at the track! smile.gif

Oh yeah? How far back in the day? Just curious cause I ran a 2:34 PR & went to state on it, & my daughter blew my time away starting in 7th grade running 2:20's.
btw, I checked your profile to find your age, but it wasn't filled in. You people need to get this stuff done!

I don't know about the hardest because I don't do track. However, I tried high jump before and that gave me challenges. The jumping wasn't the hard part, it was getting my body all arched around and stuff. I am not a very flexible person! wink.gif

You are absolutely correct tiger. The field events take more agility & skill than do the running events. Lots of hard work, not that the runners don't have to work hard, just more technicalities in the field events. T&F is my favorite sport.

I think the hardest running event is the 400. And the hardest field event is the Pole Vault.

I have to agree the hardest running event is the 400 and the hardest field event is the PV.

goldengal- I know you play soccer, do you run track also? Just curious?

My daughter went to state last year as a frosh & most likely will again this year, but she wants to play soccer again,(played many years before) & I'm not sure if her T&F coach would allow her. (fear of injury, since she's on a relay team) We're from AE & they are talking about getting it as a school sanctioned sport, FINALLY! So if you can let me know if you do & how it works out for you I'd appeciate it.

AE is looking into getting soccer.. thats awesome thumbup1.gif .. I bet the football coaches dont like that very much furious.gif ! ha

Slice is it going to be a girl sport or boy sport?

To anwser your question on how fare back... not too fare tongue.gif .. I can still run under a 2:10 pickles.gif

Oh yeah I put my age up.. in my profile punk.gif

I did both all four years in high school.. soccer never interfered with track.. unless I was on a club team that had nothing to do with school.. soccer is a fall sport and track is in the spring.. she shouldnt have a problem with doing both... there is always that fear of injury no matter what sport it is..what does she do in the fall? soccer will keep her in shape.. it might be a little rough if she can't keep her ground if it is a boy sport but it will not be too much where she can't handle it.. I did track to help me get faster and stay in shape for soccer .. so it was the other way around for me..either way there shouldn't be a problem

please keep me informed with the situation on whether or not AE will get soccer.. thanks

First off, congrats to you warrior!! Under 2:10 at your age is awesome!! (I seen you got your profile done. Kudos!!) Is that the truth? I quit running after I graduated, '85 unfortunately. Now I can't make it to the kitchen in under two!!(They don't have any fat smileys!)

I'm not sure what you mean by 'girl sport' or 'boy sport'? Please explain & I'll try to answer. Co-ed possibly?

She usually runs xc(til this year, she quit) & she is a cheerleader for bball & FB so she's got sports year round. Not to leave out she plays bball for AE & travels on a bball team during the summer.

When AE had the 'club soccer' , we had it both spring & fall. She did both.

I will certainly let you know of any confirmed soccer decisions.

It's nice to see someone who is closer to my age enloying the smileys ALMOST as much as I do!! he he

oh ok i see now.. I did not know whether it was going to be an all girl team or all boy team.. you said it was going to be coed.. so that means it will be a boy team that will allow the ladies to play with them.. so they will be playing all boy teams pretty much..

OK. I see now. When I said co-ed I meant, "Is that what you mean by girl/boy?"
I'm not sure the route they(AE) are actually looking to go. It's all talk right now in looking ahead with our new school coming into being. As things progress & they have more concrete plans I'll be sure to update you.

Yes, I do run track and also play soccer. And my coach does not have a prob, with it. He actually perfers it because at our school we have no CC program, and soccer helps us keep in shape, but during track season our track coach would like us to not play indoor soccer or play club because he doesn't want us to get hurt.

And by the way its goal not gal LOL

I'm SOOO sorry. Typo. Please forgive me? bow2.gif It won't happen again, I hope. wink.gif

Thanks for your feedback. I really believe, knowing my daughters coach, that he's gonna laugh at her when she lets him know of her thoughts. I know he'll be afraid of not only her being hurt, but if she would, she affects the relay also. I guess we'll have to wait & see.

Again sorry bout the typo.

400 and 800. I think these two are equally difficult. The 400 is not a full sprint, but it's still a sprint.. the 800 is just in between a smooth run and a sprint.. Although I didn't have a problem with either run, these two are probably the most talked about..
