Guisinger will be player of the year again. This will be the third year in a row for him. Has anyone ever done this before? As for the league it will be Kalida and Jennings battling for the top two spots. The rest will be a toss up.

Since you asked I would like to hear your opinion as well as others. My evaluation:

Continental- Coach can't get the boys to buy into baseball -it's just time off between Basketball and Soccer.
Columbus Grove- Coach who has to grind it out in two leagues and the pitching wears out as a result-Look at this year- they finished 4th or so in the P.C.L. and WON the N.W.C.
Ft. Jennings- Numbers problems especially in summer ball, intense sometimes overly so- coach. Talent there but thin in some classes.
Kalida-Has large numbers out -Coach has been there forever so very consistant and stable program . Heck, I think I could coach that talent he's had- and as rocketman said in another baseball post the kids there just wanna win.
Leipsic-hometown boy as coach - and another team playing in two leagues- I personally think the BVC isn't as strong top to bottom as the PCL and your pitching runs thin but each league always has a team or two that is tough every year. So more championships won by the Vikes in the BVC just as Grove has in the NWC.
Miller City- hometown boy as Coach. It just seems something is missing there since Kern left.
Ottoville- Great player I'm told even in college. Knows the game. They have the reputation that they can't win the "big game" sometimes. Has had lots of talent the last several years.
Pandora-Gilboa- (see Leipsic) Coach was good player in college so has knowledge to teach the game-major numbers problems in spring has no reserve teams and doesn't field ACME teams that I'm aware of. So it's only seasonal to the Rocket faithful.

Continental's coach can't get the boys to "buy into" baseball...may be true; however, there is a discipline problem too. Coach is very inconsistent with what is and what is not tolerated...and by whom. As a result more than a few returning letterman will more than likely sit out the season.

Miller City Hasn't been the same since Kern left. I think they need to get a new coach and get them back to the days where Miller City was the top dog in the PCL every year. I mean they have a good team coming up. I think the Miller City Pony League team were the champs.

Rooney, I have to agree with you on the assessment of FJ's coach being a little intense;that is being very politically correct to say the least. I have played against him and he has a knack for pi$$ing folk off. If I had a son I would not want him to play for a guy like that.

for MC, hopefully a little dicipline will help these boys, as they have a lot of talent this year, and could really do something

Sorry Big Dog, didn't mean to rattle any cages (if your last post was directed at me). But as I said, I have played against him and have witnessed more than a few "episodes" where he instigated some drama. I just wouldn't want a son of mine to take on a coaches persona that operates in that manner. Peace out. wink.gif

didnt rattle my cage dr hibbert,,thx though,,,,wee got you talkin about how the jennings coach can be and then we have others saying how a lil discipline could help these mc boys,,,,,too much and not enuff,,,,i just think sumtimes when i hear all these politically correct statements being made,,i just wonder how sum of you people would last and handle urselves through a season,,and i know wat ur saying dr hibbert,,ive been to sum ft jennings games i go to alot of games in the county,,my kids are all grown now so i go to games all through the pcl,,i was at the og-mc acme game this summer in tournament cuz it was suppose to be a good one and it was,,and i heard the mc coach disciplining his kids after they lost,,i believe they had a lead at 1 time,,so where do we draw the line,,too much discipline and not enuff discipline,,one thing i do know is times have changed,,and to bring up the 1 statement made by sumone on this topic,,dont recall who,,when they said mc should get a new coach,,im just curious wat kerns record was over the last 5 to 10 yrs of his career,,dont recall mc making any noise then either,,but the 1 thing i do know is mc and kalida have played each other the last 2 yrs in the districts,,,,so it seems to me the only thing that has kept mc from moving on has been a very talented kalida team and for sumone to say maybe they need a new coach is sad,,,and in closing id just like to say goodluck to all pcl teams this upcoming season

Cool Big Dog! I agree big time about the discipline. I just was referring to him more as a player than as a coach anyway. He seems to have a temper and tries sometimes to start arguments/fights by what he says and does during the course of the game. Kids do need discipline as long as it is fair and across the board, not this stuff that one kid can get away with throwing helmets, bats, etc. and other can't. Peace out. cool.gif

Continental will continue to improve this year. They always have one bad inning that gets them out of the game. If they could eliminate that one bad inning, they would be in most every game. It will hurt that they did not play summerball this year. They will have a very good pitcher in Nik Louiselle and Ben Miller. A couple other pitchers could be: Kyle Mansfield-accuracy but not the speed, Patrick Llewellyn-not too accurate or fast, and David Burke- attitude and confidence. The outlook for the pirates is still pretty good b/c people will underestimate them. Baseball is not the big sport in town, but it is gaining popularity. A few kids do care and "Buy into" baseball. Miller, the 2 Louiselles, Miller, and Mansfield are pretty dedicated.

I would have to agree with you for the most part. I do believe Continental competed in about every game but 3 this year. They played very well against Kalida this year, I believe 3-1. I believe the coach is in the right direction but the "buy in" will come with time. I wish the best to him and the team this year no matter who does or does not go out. I am sure I will see him up there at the diamond about every Sunday with the kids having an "open" diamond similar to "open" gym.

On another note, I think Ft. Jennings has a slight edge this year, Kalida will be competitive as always, and see MC being the underdog maybe sneaking in there.

Continental is definatley headed in the right direction....I dont think anyone that will make a huge difference to the team wouldnt go out....there is a few people that I think brought the team down in the past with their attitude....Nick Louiselle and Ben Miller will be a big part this year.....If Scott Keck plays this year he will also definatley help them out and hopefully Dustin Ladd comes out and has a great year...

I believe they would help and yes they should play but I dont believe it would be a huge loss simply because neither of the fully cared for the game...dont want to get into details though to start a shouting match so we will leave it at that wink.gif

Why bring it up if you know that they are not going out? Seems a little childish to ask someone to speculate on something if they are not even going to play. Until the season starts please leave the rumors away. Thanks!
