Flounder and I have decided that after halftime (and supper) we will be heading back to the B&B..
A short rest, maybe a little hot tub time, and then get ready to go to the big Cajun boil at Tom Jenkins home.....might take Slicer into Millersburg after that so she can observe tbose young Amish boys doing their imitation of Rumslinga......lol

Alter turns it over but Beacham's shot on the other end is wildly off. Beacham is a transfer from Youngstown Ursuline, so she's playing in her first season with Rogers. 2:55 left in 2nd quarter. Rogers got that offensive rebound but Johnson's 3 is no good. Neither team shooting superbly. Bockrath drives, shoots with no success but she's fouled. 20-12, Rogers. Her first free throw is no good. The second is also no good. Rogers grabs the rebound but turns it over on the other end.

A LOT of West Holmes have hung around to watch this game. West Holmes may see either team in Columbus in about two months' time. West Holmes defeated Kettering Alter in last year's Division II state championship after Alter took out Rogers in the semifinals. Alter makes a pair of free throws and the Rogers lead to 20-14 with 1:40 left in the 2nd quarter. Bockrath steals it, takes it to the hoop, misses, grabs her own offensive rebound and puts it up and in. Bockrath looks tiny compared to the 6-footers of Rogers. Peace is called for her 3rd foul on the other end but she stays in.

Bockrath makes both free throws and Ashley Miller is in for Peace for Rogers. Rogers turns it over and Alter will have a chance to tie it on this possession. B. Miller brings it over, dishes it to Bockrath and she drains a 3-pointer! Alter takes a 21-20 lead. That's a 9-0 run. Bockrath will another steal. She's all alone and misses the layup! She gets her own rebound and puts it up and win. Hampton-Bey with a score for Rogers on the other end. Alter turns it over to end the first half.

After stuffing my face during halftime and the first part of the 3rd quarter, I'm back with a full belly. Alter leads 28-24 with 4:55 left in the 3rd quarter and they have the ball after a Rogers miss.

Hampton-Bey gets a long rebound, drives and misses. Alter grabs the rebound and they're out running. Miller drives and she's fouled and will shoot two free throws. That foul was the 4th on Peace but again, she'll stay in. Miller makes both free throws and Alter leads 30-24 with 4:25 left in 3rd quarter.

Petty scores down low and she has eight points. L. Bazelek misses a 3-pointer and Rogers quickly moves up the court. Johnson takes it down low and she scores! She has 10 points and it is quickly a 2-point game.

Alter scores and Rogers quickly turns it over. Miller, one of the top point guards in the nation, brings it up the court for Alter. M. Bazelak misses the layup and the ball goes out of bounds and it'll be Rogers' ball. Alter leads 32-28 with 2:40 left in the 3rd quarter.

Hampton-Bey scores and Alter turns it over. Johnson scores quickly for Rogers and we're tied, 32-32, with 1:20 left in 3rd quarter.

Petty fouls Combs and she'll shoot two. That's Petty's 2nd foul. She misses the first as Miller comes to the bench for a rest. She makes the second free throw to put Alter ahead again but not for long. Johnson drains a 3-pointer and Rogers has regained the lead. Rogers coach Lamar Smith telling his team to pick up the defense but Combs scores for Alter and we're tied again, 35-35.

Johnson takes the ball up high and it looks like they'll hold for the last shot. Or so they wanted to. Beacham called for an offensive foul and that'll likely allow Alter to take the last shot of the quarter. M. Bazelak misses a jumper and Beacham's 3 at the buzzer is no good.

END 3RD QUARTER

Beacham misses a layup to open the 4th quarter for Rogers. Peace picks up her fifth foul and she'll head out of the game with just two points. Another foul and Alter will shoot two free throws. They're both good.

The teams exchange turnovers before Beacham goes coast-to-coast for a reverse layup. Both teams will be in the bonus with the next free throw. 37-37 with 5:55 left in 4th quarter.

Bockrath scores for Alter and they lead now. She's got 16 points. Alter commits foul on the other end and Johnson (15 points) will shoot one-and-one. She makes them both and we're tied again. 39-39 with 4:30 left in 4th quarter.

Miller misses a 3 and Rogers gets the rebound. It turns it over and Hampton-Bey commits a foul on the other end. Olivia Gillis will shoot two free throws. She misses them both and Beacham saves the rebound for Rogers.
