Why in the world would heath go after Quinicy? He has nothing to do with Shawnee. That makes no sense. If this is true, I would think the people of Shawnee want no part of a person like this.

You're absolutely right. For him to receive voucher money he needed to live the Lima School District. And if he lived in the Lima School District he should not be eligible for basketball. However, Quincy claimed he lived with his mother last year who resided in the Elida School District which would make him eligible for basketball.. If that is case one of two things happened, he either accepted illegal voucher money or lied on where he lived. You can not get voucher money and live in the Elida School District.
Live in Elida - Illegal voucher money
Live in Lima - Ineligible for baskeball
Which is it?

for an AD to do what is alleged here could be suicide on his schools basketball program for a long long time...I mean that's not saying much for the area, since they haven't been relevant since Butler, but I'm sure it matters to the players and parents at Shawnee.

The OHSAA deemed OJ Mayo ineligible a long time back and he was a top 5 in the country type guy, why would Q or X be outside the rules?
Rules are rules and if Q is breaking rules, (which he's already been punished two times for breaking summer contact rules) he will get punished. Or in this case, if X is ineligible then why not just sit the first 11 games then play the last half of the season? If he's deemed ineligible after lying to the OHSAA, I can see the book being thrown at the basketball program.
Maybe getting suspended for breaking rules wasn't such a bad thing. Might give Q and Zell a little time to get some things straight.

I support Quincy 100% and now that he's at lima senior I'm now supporting them 100%. I guess people like dick Heath, Denny Thompson, Denny Morris, Sean Allen and more can and will continue to send hate mail to the ohsaa. Get over it....his son is playing for dad. I'll now sit back and laugh off some of the responses going forward. Good day!!

good Lord, I didn't mean the ONLY reason for HS athletics, way to cherry pick my post...
Yikes, defensive much? You weren't clear in your post and I answered your question. And since you asked, I don't give a rip how much exposure a kid gets in high school - no matter what the sport. Kids get exposure in the summer, and the more time coaches spend 'exposing' their studs, the less time the rest of the team gets. High school ball is not a minor league for college...it is a recreational activity for high school kids.

although the "no..no...hell no" content of your post seemed a little over the top...sorry I wasn't clearer...
"recreational activity for kids" is a nice pithy statement but far from reality...unless your surrounded by an environment that doesn't send many kids to college for athletics...as long as college tuition rises, you'll see increased pressure to win and showcase players abilities while doing it. The average middle class (and especially low class) parent will try to give their kid every advantage to succeed and reduce the amount of debt incurred for college. I'm not saying it's right...I'm just saying.
summer is certainly a proving grounds for basketball players more than team ball, you are correct on that...however my post was in reference to Shawnee's AD contacting the OHSAA about Lima Senior...shawnee parents that I know are frankly ticked at the status of their programs across the board and this won't help keep their athletes (Elijah Pughsley, Tyler Ulis, etc). That was my point.
if you can't put talent on the floor, your ability to compete is greatly compromised.

You're quite the conspiracy theorist. Anyways, if anyone came to LCC asking about Xavier's status as a student there, why would LCC do anything other than tell the truth? There certainly is no reason to "keep the secret." They'd put themselves in jeopardy and would gain nothing by doing so.
Also, I was pretty sure Xavier was NOT a voucher student. I thought he enrolled at St. Charles in 6th grade after attending Elida or Shawnee (I forget which) - in which case, he would not be eligible for a voucher regardless of his residence because he was not transferring from a "failing school."

I think you mean Bill Walker. Mayo left on his own accord and went to Huntington, WV.
It is very unfortunate they did not play their senior years in Ohio.
Flat out amazing and extremely fun to watch.

I thought Mayo was made ineligible because he played basketball in Kentucky as an 8th grader, then moved to Ohio and couldn't play after his junior season because he already had 4 years of HS sports? I could definitely be wrong, ha.
Bill Walker did use up all his years of eligibility also. You're correct in that having two of the top 10 kids in the country on the team was just awesome to watch.
Back to the topic. What did Simpson and Pughsley do to get suspended?
