In response to the letter to the editor - I know very few true Arlington fans that wish LB would exit the league. LB brings many things to our league, including a good gate to get rid of them. If they left, what we really have left? I say - keep them. You don't beat them often, but when you do it is a great feeling

. BTW - I thought the LB v Arlington game was an absolute classic - two big, strong, physical teams beating each other up.
It's too bad you didn't beat up L-B enough to give Riverdale a chance in this week's game...

That's why instead of whining about how tough we have it moving up to D5, most people have accepted it and take the attitude that we have to get better to compete against teams like OG. Maybe you should try it for a change.
Why does everyone think that D5 is so big?? Arlington beat a D2 team this year...even if it was a not-so-good one. The schools that are in D4 are the MIDDLE-SIZED schools in the state...so L-B is still smaller than over half of the schools in the state. Being a few boys away from D6 means they are likely in the BOTTOM one-third. Hancock and Putnam Counties have some of the smallest sized schools in the state. I think that this conference has been sheltered from playing schools outside of their own size for so long that they somehow feel bullied when one of their own is somehow "too big" for the BVC. It's hard NOT to be bigger than a Vanlue, Arcadia, Hardin Northern, Cory-Rawson...
For years, we played (and I hope to still schedule some of these teams) schools that were bigger than L-B...and also just as competitive. L-B would have been near the middle of that conference, enrollment-wise. We still had schools like Lucas who were near the size of Arlington or P-G...still considered pretty small. So it's N-O-R-M-A-L to have disparity between schools in a conference.
The problem is NOT that L-B is too big. PERIOD.
The problem could be that about 4 or 5 of the BVC teams are among the smallest football-playing schools in Ohio (we could still consider HN one of those teams for this argument's sake). But...maybe MORE likely, the problem is that L-B is good...AND...that L-B is located next-door to a strong small-sized city that attracts business people (with families with children that those families may not want to attend a "city" school)...so L-B has a few things going for them the past few years that others in the league are basically envious of....
...aside from the "we're better than everyone else" attitude that they SEEM to exude. I guess that come with the territory that we will call "a winning attitude" or "confidence".
Anyways....we need to GET OVER IT... These things go in cycles, and I really think that in a few years they won't be as dominant as they are now. Be glad that you are in the company of a school who has the reputation of being among the leaders...that school MAY someday be yours.
