Davis got the job. Why else would he be at J's Chateau sitting with Fell talking about doing a Bball and Fball combined strength and conditioning program??? On a side note- for real comedic relief- check out THE almighty "coach" Q's Facebook rant. Talking 'bout all the Lima haters and "dis" ain't gonna stop him from doing him and all the great things for Lima's youth. Blah blah blah. Man he is just keepin it a hunnit. (Disclosure this is not how I talk. I have an education. But I was just quoting the boyscout Q. 😂

Fannypack,
I just visited "Q's" Facebook page.......I didn't see those comments listed. Maybe he
deleted them after thinking it over...RM

Osu...I have never been one who said we would see moves from LCC to LSH, but in my mind, where you will see the tranistion is in a couple years. You will start to see the kids in Lima Middle schools stay in the school system going on to Spartan Way instead of moving to LCC, Elida, Shawnee, Bath etc.

WOW!!
1) I do repeat my previous post that if LSH already made the decision and will announce that Davis is the new coach the joke of a program will continue. Why go through the process of accepting applications if they are not going to have a first or second round of interviews? Horse and Pony show? I also posted previously, if after ALL applicants have been looked at and the most qualified have been interviewed then Davis is picked, at least the powers that be did their job.
2) I hope Davis and Fell were talking about "if" he gets the job they could do some type of strength and conditioning program together. However with both sports their are some similarities to work on (core body development) basketball needs more work on lateral movement, hip mobility. I could go on and on on this subject.
3) I am glad that you were able to critique Coach Q's Facebook post for us. I am also so happy that you have an education and so willing to make sure we are NOW aware of it. One thing I was taught at an early age was to "never point a finger at someone, because you have three pointing back at you" Being that you are so educated I am sure you have never used any slang terms EVER (well at least since you have received your education) like "photo bomb", "third degree", "kick the bucket", "sick", "hater" and the list goes on and on. God Bless you on this Good Friday!

If they indeed did hire Davis it was the right call.
He's been successful at Bath and will be in the school system.
You can't hire a guy at a large school like that and he not be in the system on a day to day basis.

If they hired him AFTER an extensive search for the best Coach I agree.
He was successful his last three years at Bath, his first seven he was not.
You CAN hire someone who is not in the system on a day to day basis, it has been done at numerous large and small high schools in the state, you have other Coaches on your staff at the school on a day to day basis.

I just feel it's in their best interest to hire someone who will be in the system....just my opinion.
Who all has applied/interviewed?

Davis didn't win until he got a all star player. I don't care how great of coach you are you've got to have talent to win. It's amazing how Frank Kill all of sudden becomes a great coach when he hads 2 all state players.

I just don't see the talent within the city running to play for Davis sorry. I hope I'm wrong believe me but I just don't see it. What I see is another 4 years of less than half full gymnasiums for the spartans and at least another if not 2 state titles on s. cable road.

I am not sure what you think he should clean up on his Facebook page. I saw his post from last night and he was talking about people saying that he is getting rich from his training programs and that he should not be charging a fee according to some people. Unless you have seen something else on his page.

yes, synopsis of Q's rant....

I train athletes"
"you want me to do it for free"
"I could make more money elsewhere"
"stop looking for handouts just because we're 3rd cousins"
"no one in the entire nation is going to train your kid for free"
"stop calling me a jerk for being a businessman"

that's what I got out of it.

I find it ironic that his lil TiER 1 program puts on the page we will get you to the next level. So why did his "fam" Pughsley have to leave Lima to go play in Cincy to get looked at? Why did his son have to leave LimaSenior to get looked at? According to "Q"... It's doesn't matter if you play on a crappy Highschool team. Pay him money first and you shall succeed right? Hmmm. There is a huge reason why the likes of Mathias, Gossard, Ben Bowers, Trey Brock, anyone from Wapak and OG sends kids to him. Also- LCC lets him use the gym for a very very small fee. The kids do not get a shirt, participation ribbon (lol), water bottle and most times have to bring their own ball. So at 20 a head and let's say 20 kids show up.... That's 400.00 CASH. 75.00 for "gym rental" and he pockets 325.00 CASH in ONE Sunday. Orrrrr now wait for it.... He takes that money and uses it towards his AAU endeavors. He has been a shady dealer ever since back in the YMCA days. Anyone ever wondered why he got fired as a "security guy" from there??? Shady dealings....... Go Coach Davis!!!!! A class act above "Q" any day of the week. HAPPY EASTER everyone!!!!

Let's not turn this into a platform to bash Q. I don't know him, never met him, but he is doing what he can to teach kids fundamentals of basketball and have fun doing it. That's more than can be said for 99% of us....

Both guys are qualified to run a successful high school program and be positive role models for lima city schools. It is a sign of the times that both sides need to bash the other to promote their candidate. Senior high can win with either running the show. The true question is will the community and kids buy into the system or continue to underacheive on the court and in the classroom.

I don't think Q is forcing these kids to show up. There are kids out there paying $600 to $800 bucks to pre-trained to make them better athletes. Your talking about 2nd and 3rd graders. I guess many parents have money to throw away. This fitness stuff is another cash cow but no one is forcing the parents to pay up. They look at it as investment for the big professional contracts down the road!

That is the whole problem at LSH!!

Sadly to say the bad outshines the good at LSH. And I think it's one of the reasons parents (the good parents anyway) are so quick to enroll there kids elsewhere. There was a video posted on Facebook a few months back. It showed a group of LSH students enter a Lima business and rob the place blind. They had no fear of what they were doing. Just picked up what ever they wanted and stuffed it in there backpacks. Didn't even look around to see if anyone was watching. The kids all had on expensive coats in different colors so it was easy to pick them out of a crowd. Police worked with store owner and LSH admin and all kids were charged. I sometimes wonder if role models will really make a difference in some of these kids lives. If the parent doesn't give a d*mn why should they? Sad but true.
