I can't speak for Bath, Elida, and the other dark horses. But while I'm usually defending Defiance at every opportunity, they aren't coming close to winning the league next year. We're losing the QB, the top 6 leading recievers, the top 4 leading rushers(from a TERRIBLE running game). We haven't had any kind of defense at all since 2009, and the last time the argument could be made for a GOOD defense was 2008.
The lower classes look really good and I'm excited for the future. But I fear 2014 will be a long season.
All valid points. You simply can't replace a tandem of Guilliam and Hancock.
When Keween left the year before they were VERY lucky to have someone as talented as Batt to be there to back him up.
As you alluded to, Defiance has a LOT of young talent, but it's still talent. A lot of the young talent is now used to winning in football (at the lower levels) and also in other sports (basketball and baseball). You have to think some of that rubs off on them and they aren't as "young" as their class would appear to be. Probably another .500 season but after that,
IF all the kids stay out for football (which isn't always the case), there are TONS of athletes coming down the pipeline that can do some big things.
