The only person I could get out of him was Oates.

I'd think it's safe to say Oates "underachieved" with the talent he was given. Just my opinion.

Lets face it Urban Meyer and Nick Saban arent applying for the job and Doug Oates is more than qualified for the PG job

A little birdie told me that there are 4 candidates that will interview for the PG head coaching position: Eric Osborne (current assistant and PG Alum, Josh Kaufman (PG AD), and two out of towners.
It seems well established that one of the out of towners is Doug Oates, so the question is who is the other?

Qualified yes but is he the best candidate? Especially small school applicants, being a former head coach does not necessarily mean the top candidate. If he was a top candidate he would still be a head coach also every great coach had to start somewhere it's up to the hiring committee to find the best available candidate even if it means hiring a guy with 5-10 years as an assistant and no head coaching experience.

I'm trying to figure out all the wasted talent Arlington had when Oates was coaching? If my memory is right, he chose to step down at Arlington. If he squandered talent, I'd hate to have you tell me what Leonard's done...

If it's offered and he wants it, PG will have hired someone who has had coaching success in both football and basketball.

How many playoff appearances and league titles did he win? Arlington hasn't been worse than 7-3 since he left almost every year was worse than 7-3 but 2. Just my opinion I think they could do better but I've been wrong before.

I guess getting beat by HN, LB, and McComb back in the day was underachieving ....
Leonard must be underachieving as well.

0 league titles in 27 years? I know not a football school but still you can't tell me they belong in Vanlue Arcadia conversation talent wise. I believe every school has won at least one league title in that time so in my opinion no coach has meet expectations there in football. I'm saying if 6-4 5-5 is success then yes he will have success because I think that is what you will get. Will he have as much or more talent at PG compared Arlington? I do not see him winning a league title at pg and 7-3 would be a big accomplishment.

I would think PG could find someone better than Doug Oates. He was nothing more than mediocre. He beat the teams he was suppose to beat to go 6-4 or 7-3 but couldn't beat the other teams. It hasn't taken much in the conference to win at least 5 conference games lately. It will be interesting to see who PG does choose. My bet is they pass on Oates.

We won't "pass" on anyone.....the first person to say yes at the lowest acceptable salary will be our next
coach....that's why I'm thinking the AD might actually get the offer......heck, he might have to take it
for a couple bucks and some BBQ from Harlan's.....

I don't know anything about AD, but one has to wonder what kind of dynamic there's going to be between he and the new coach if he doesn't get the job.

Is there a teaching job that is open for a potential coach?
