Didn't HN beat Toledo Science Academy last year... 85 to 18? I'll take the bears for a minimum of 3 and a better than average chance at a 500 season

Flounder... I think we're finding out more everyday that the NWCC isn't as bad as some of you folks want them to be. They've been getting stronger each year. Maybe not MAC strong... but respectable.
How many playoff wins do Ridgemont, Perry, Riverside, WG, and USV have?

My point is that stating the NWCC is "one of the weakest" in the state isn't necessarily true. That is a very bold statement when it comes to sports in general outside of NW and West Central Ohio. I would agree that they are one of the weaker conferences in the area (in football) but in the state, not so much. Besides that, how many playoff wins does Arcadia, Cory Rawson, Vanlue, Van Buren, and PG have (in football)? So Bob22, are you saying the BVC has one of the weakest conferences in the state? :shrug2:

Pandora, arcadia and cory have all been to the playoffs. Pandora has at least one win. I don't think the others won.

Pandora-Gilboa has made the playoffs seven times and have a record of 3-7 in those appearances. Cory-Rawson has been to the playoffs three times with a record of 3-3.

I will add to that Van Buren and Vanlue are the only two BVC teams not to make it to the playoffs.

That isn't true anymore. Ask vanlue about that

Ridgemont 46

Vanlue. 13.

I bet some of the bvc scores against vanlue weren't that lopsided

I looked it up right after I posted. There was only a 3 point difference with the margin of the Arcadia victory Ridgemont hasn't had much to cheer about lately so it is good to not be the doormat of Hardin county any longer.

Apparently you don't know who Mike Dennis is and his resume and the tenacity he brings. I can promise you he will get every single inch of athletic ability out of these kids just as he always has and the 11 best will find their way on the field. You will see an improved Polar Bear football team and program.

I just hope he gets more than 11 out. Good luck to the Bears in their new league. IMO it is the right move even though not entirely popular. It is a shame that a charter member of the BVC is gone because of the shortsightedness of the administration at Hardin Northern. Maybe they will make better decisions in the future with the new league. I hope coach Dennis can rebuild a once proud program and that you dominate the NWCC like you did the BVC.

I agree that a coach can motivate kids but the kids have to want to play as well. I didn't think the kids had a problem playing for the other coaches , obenour and cavinee , there just weren't any players in the school. I felt for link laroche because he seemed to be one of the few kids who really wanted to play.

He is in the school every single day and has been a teacher of these kids since they entered HN. You can bet he is gonna work hard to get the kids in the hall ways out for football that haven't played for whatever reason it may be and then some. Is change gonna happen over night? Absolutely not. But I do believe Coach Dennis is a huge step in the right direction and it has now begun. Give him time is all i can say. I have all the faith in the world that Coach Dennis and his staff will pull the Bears together.

Wilco gave you the total wins by schools you listed. I'll add that CR has a regional final appearance (2003) and one of PG's wins was a first round win over 1 seed and AP#1 Mohawk on 2001. So they've had a taste some of the success that HN,LB, McComb and even Leipsic has had in the playoffs. To put it in a D1A college perspective...the BVC would be the Big Ten and the NWCC would be the Sun Belt. And we all know who would be the SEC. :)

The NWCC originally started with schools that had different issues. USV and Perry were not welcome in the NWC. The WCOC went away which left Fairbanks, Ridgemont, Riverside, and Waynesfield looking for conferences. If memory serves me right these were the core of the conference with Marion Catholic and a non football Temple in there. Each school brought there own strengths and weaknesses. For football the push to get second level points made if difficult for some of these teams to find opponents so the league started looking for more schools to join. They picked up St. Wendelin and Troy Christian, along with Yellow Springs. Troy Christian and Yellow Springs soon found other conferences that cut down on travel down south. Marion Local and St. Wendelin struggled to field teams and eventually left the league. A league down south dis-banded and we picked up Ft. Loramie and Sidney Lehman. We are a small school conference with school that go through the ups and downs of enrollment and the number of participating athletes, with the exception of Lehman who seems to always have solid numbers. Granted our top teams usually can't compete with other leagues top teams but as you can see the league was not formed with top teams from other leagues. So we are what we are. That's great BOB22 that you can sit back and chant "My league is better then your league" for the most part those in the NWCC don't really care. There are many coaches and parents that work their butts off to give our kid the chance to play football, we aren't here to live up to your standards. We will gladly accept Hardin Northern into our league and help them get their athletic program get back on it's feet. And when the BVC gets tired of giving Cory the beat down we will open our arms to them as well. Are we the weakest conference in the state? Don't know and don't care.

Because of only having 7 teams the nwcc also had 3 non league games to schedule and usually the nwcc tried to find quality opponents. Ridgemont scheduled middle town Christian last year and only lost 16-0 to a playoff bound team. And looking at the teams Middletown played the gophers played them as tough defensively as any team they played last year. I know this doesn't mean much but it does show that the nwcc is ab improving league. The teams in the conference are getting stronger every year and with ft Loramie and Sidney Lehman in the league the other schools have teams in their own conference that play playoff football and give the other schools a guideline of where they need to be to do the same
