I understand the love that many Kenton people have for Coach Mauk. However, it is not like he is irreplaceable. 2 state titles in 31 years is a nice accomplishment but certainly not outstanding. Since the 2 state title runs in the early 2000's, Kenton has only made 1 state title game appearance, losing in the state final game in 2011.
People in Wapak would kill for just 1 state title game.

Agree. Two State titles over a career of any length is very impressive

If Wapak went to the state title game even Bengals stadium wouldnt be enough for all the Wapak fans that would be there.

Please use numbers. Save what 15% on new admin hire? Admins just didn't graduate college. 15% would amount to $10,455. What amount would they save on his health coverage?

I don't know the exact numbers, but I will give a somewhat educated guess.

Top end admin contract for an AD- probably 90K.
Already stated on here that Kenton football stipend is approx 10k.

Most retire/rehire candidates agree to come in at a very low place on the pay scale- usually anywhere from 3 years to 5 years experience.

I am SPECULATING the difference between the top end of that contract and year 5 to be close to 20K.

However- you are correct that the district would save on health insurance and retirement pay into the state system.

STRS does not provide health insurance for retire / rehire people. The school is required to provide it.

His AD pay is public information. I gave you 15% of that amount in a previous post. It is not $90k.

The head football coach pay will continue to be paid to the next coach.

While I am not an educator, this goes against every educators view that i have talked to. Including my retired mother. A teacher, who isn't too old to remember where her health coverage comes from. lol

According to Buckeye Institute where you can look up any public figures salary, he made 70k as AD and 6k for football. He must of been on an Administrators salary. I don't now too may pay scales that go that high especially Kenton. Most retire rehire situations are negotiable, but its been my experience the school normally gives you 10 years at Bachelors plus 150. Nevertheless, does this make the HN job more attractive?

I didn't think that the school covered it either.

Retire / Rehire health ins. used to be covered by STRS. That changed about 7 years ago. STRS will not provide health insurance to retire / rehire people.

That sound as though you know for sure. The people that I talked to may not be well versed in the retire/rehire situation. Thanks for the info.

No matter who they get it is going to be an adjustment. Would be nice to keep it in house for continuities sake.

I have been part of a new coaching staff but the school didn't have near the tradition of kenton. It takes time when you start over. Kenton doesn't want to do that.
