2) Lebron James
3) Kevin Durant
Well Wapak should be searching for a basketball coach too if they could not win a state title with players like that :-)

slingblade,

Who was the other big guy on the teams that Chad played on back in the mid "80's. I remember him being a 1st team BVC football player also. I played against them and got to know Chad when we were at Toledo.

Jeff Hefflinger...
I'm not sure but I don't think Van Buren won the BVC that year. I'm pretty sure HN did. I know HN beat VB at VB in the regular season and then lost to Marion Local at Lima in the districts.
Van Buren was good.
Didn't Jeremy Thompson go to Van Buren? He had a great career at ONU, all-time leading scorer.

Didn't Van Buren get fairly far in tourney in 84? Thought they got at least to the regionals the year after St Johns won state, which was 83.

I think Mains was their big guy. Hefflinger was a small forward. I remember his outstanding performance at the State Tournament in Dayton against Werhle. He just refused to give in. I think Van Buren lost in OT. Hefflinger's father was a good player on some good Hamler teams from 1962 to 1964. Van Buren actually had a better team the year before, but laid an egg at the State Tournament. Their guards kept chucking up long shots and missing, while they had a big advantage underneath with their height. I believe this was in the late 1980's.

I thought of him too. I might put him ahead of Baird.

Jeff Hefflinger, that was it. I think I've still got some aches & pains from being hit by him on the football field.

I know very little about Willard's history, but Nick Dials doesn't get mentioned?

For McComb,John Jacoby,Dave Dehart and Craig Aukerman are probobly be hard to beat, but their are so many indeveduals over the years.. A couple off the 2012 team would be in the running... And the Aldrich twins, Skip Peterson, Kevin Peterson, Keivn Kurtz, and I know I'm missing a few others.......

I always wanted to see Delphos St. John's and Willard meet in the tourney back in 70s and 80s. Two strong traditions that were always ranked high alot of those years and they were in the same class-Class AA -for some of those years. I don't think they have ever met in the tournament, at least in recent history-last 50 years.

Haven't seen any list for a few local teams-Bath, Celina, Jefferson and a few others. One of Jefferson's best might just be getting started.

Riverdale:
Gary Egner
Bill Kotterman
Rob Straughsbaugh

I think these 3 were all from the class of 1977. Egner had over 1000 points, and Kotterman & Straughsbaugh each had over 900 in their careers. This was in the days before the 3-point shot. They all went on to Findlay College and played there. Kotterman played some "pro" ball in Europe for a bit. Their freshman year (1974), was the year Riverdale made it to state (their group made it to regionals 3 times, but never state), and we had some very good players on that team, also. Jim Rose is the name I can remember from that team.

Got two for Jefferson... Ryan Illyes @ Dustin Looser. Can't come up with a definitive 3rd.
I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

From a bit back I was thinking of Greg Blythe and Mike Ginter. That was a really good team they had back in the late 70s.
