I find it funny that the picture of Cooper has a caption that reads "Lima Central Catholic's head coach Jerry Cooper talks to a referee during a game this season..."Pointing fingers, eyebrows raised, and veins popping out in the forehead? I'm sure all he was doing was talking. would the next picture of been Coop chasing same official to rhe locker room to finish talking to him?

I believe that a video/audio of Coach Cooper's latest escapade after going into the official's locker room exists......I also believe that the OHSAA either is in possession of, or has access to this piece of information.........with all of his other past history of berating officials during and after games I heard that the OHSAA was going to come down hard with a suspension/penalty.......with Coach Cooper taking the job in Tennessee this all becomes a moot point.........the OHSAA is no longer involved, the LCC AD is off the hook, and everything can return to normal (or what passes as normal) down on Cable Rd..........I wish Coach Cooper well in his new endeavor.......it sounds like a great opportunity for him and his family.........RM

I am not so sure that the OHSAA or a certain prominent Lima land college football official want to open a can of worms regarding this incident. There may be more red faces and people covering their butt then most people think.

The real question is if Palte is going to take the job now that it's open.

Well he did have a contract stating that he was the next coach. So he must have been interested in it a year ago.

Does a written, BOE approved, legally binding contract naming Scott Palte coach in waiting actually exist? Or was it more of a handshake agreement? :hifive2:

Alot of things can change in a years time.Seems to me that if he was going to be the next coach at LCC, it would be done by now. LCC officials obviously had to know that he wanted to be in the building if he were to be the next head coach. I would think that would of come up when he interviewed to be the "coach in waiting" The longer it drags out, the less likely he is the next LCC head coach. JMO.

I just do not see why Coach Palte would want to leave a public school for a private school. He would be taking a pay cut and no longer be a part of the state teacher retirement system. I have heard the gig at Shawnee that Cooper had is not going to be available.

If I'm not mistaken, the teaching job is whats holding this up. I dont believe palte qualifies for coopers old job.

If that position is not available, it would be hard to leave a public school. Without the availability of STRS, I think a private school would have a hard time providing an equal retirement opportunity.. I know he has been teaching for at least 15+ years, so he is halfway towards retirement. My guess was that if Cooper's teaching position was available, the school would have a hard time not giving it to Frank Kill due to his time and service there. It would offer better pay and retirement benefits.

Technically it does not matter what your certification is at a private school. I know LCC does a good job of making sure that most of the teachers have the appropriate licenses, but not all teachers in a private school even hold a teaching license but a non-tax certificate which allows them to teach any subject or any area. I am not speaking specifically to LCC, just private schools in general.

Funny how this is all shaking out..........you have to know that the LCC administration knew of these things beforehand. I don't believe that not having Palte in the school on a daily basis is that big of a thing......this decision will come down to what I've said numerous times before......if LCC does not name Coach Palte the true "coach-in-waiting" by the MLK weekend it won't happen......so we've only got a few weeks to wait before we have to begin speculation on the next coach of the Tbirds.............btw, has anyone seen the new LCC commercial airing on WLIO?.....I want you to pay special attention to the students that they spotlight and what they have to say.... ........I think you will find it very revealing......RM

Just check the chimney on the top of LCC. When there is a new coach, the smoke will be white.
