Given his comments about the superintendent, he must think all of those kids went to Kenton...

25 students? Heck, that's what 20% of the district? Is that K-12 or high school? Look, I'm sure this wasn't an easy decision, and it took guts to finally pull the plug. My fear was that a 110 lb. 14 yr. old freshman with little ability would get seriously injured by a 240 lb. 19 year old linebacker who has some colleges interested. I'm sure in years past, there's been kids at some of these other struggling programs who had no business on the field Friday night, and the district was just darn lucky there wasn't a major permanant injury.
HN will land on it's feet. Hopefully they get into the conference with Perry and Ridgemont and find out they can complete, and the numbers will come back. My guess is they'll not want to move back into the BVC in 3 years.
The blame needs to fall back on many of the boys that graduated from HN the last 3-4 years who chose not to play football.

It's not just those kids - it's the ones that are still there, too. This year's seniors were 8th graders when JH football was cancelled four years ago. There were only 3 or 4 8th graders the following year and it appears as though they've disappeared completely.

Cropduster, if you want to criticize the administration for waiting so long to decide to make the decision, that's fine. In fact, such criticism is probably warranted. However, to continually bash them and claim that they have single-handedly destroyed HN football makes no sense. The kids that have chosen not to play, for whatever reason, are the ones that have painted them into a corner, so to speak. It was the right decision. Period.

I talked to someone very familiar with what's going on (not from HN, for the record) last week and was told that HN has probably played its last down of football in the BVC. There's also a decent chance that they'll be out of the conference altogether in a few years. I agree that they'll probably look to the NWCC, but when your problems are what HN's are - (lack of) effort, dedication, commitment, accountability - changing conferences won't solve anything. The results will still be the name.

Not think I know Rusty, Ericles yes I will continue to blame adults making decisions that effect kids. & organizations with the information I have. My question I have for you is why Arn't the BVC all sports banners hanging in any of the gyms? Ever seen the wall at L-B.? I could go on and on, that is just one of many reasons as to why I blame adults

I do agree you've probably have seen the last BVC game in Dola unless things get turned, but they are still a good standing member.

P.S. I know how u like to argue with me Ericles, BVC all sports awards were won85-86 , 87-88 89-90, 90-91.

Consolidation should have been mandatory for ANY Ohio school district that got state money to build a new school.

????? So Lima Senior and Elida should have consolidated together? Ada/Upper Scioto Valley, Allen East/Ada,....list would go on naming schools who received money from the state in building new schools the last 10 yrs or so

So if a school district grows bigger and requires a new school to house the growth... they should consolidate with another school and form an even larger school district that would require an even bigger school?

Saying any is a bit extreme, but I understand the idea. The fact that in Putnam County, you've got new schools in both Ottoville and Fort Jennings that you can see from the other one is ridiculous.

Anyway, according to the master schedule the OHSAA released the other day, every team on HN's schedule has found a replacement.
Ada-East Clinton(road)
Arcadia- St. Wendelin(road)
Arlington- Liberty Center(road)
Cory-Rawson-St. Wendelin(home)
Leipsic- Edinburgh, IN(road)
Liberty-Benton- Detroit Edison(home)
McComb- Cleveland East Tech(away)
P-G- Warren JFK(home)
Van Buren- Lucasville Valley(road)
Vanlue- Riverside(home)

I could be wrong but I had originally heard that VB and McComb were playing at neutral sites.

Bradley is a great facility, just give yourself some time to fight traffic on Rome-Hilliard Rd.
Always a watchful eyes on those Tiffin Calvert Senecas, Marion Local Flyers, Fort Loramie Redskins , New Albany Eagles.

Thanks for the info. All the schedule I had said was VB and McComb on the road and Valley and East Tech at home. Hilliard is a nice neutral site for those 2.

HN looking to play football in the NWCC?

Maybe they oughta be a package deal with Cory-Rawson, Arcadia, and Vanlue. Outscored a combined 175-7 in week two and it aint gonna get better.

Yes, if they wanted state money to help fund the project. If they wanted to build a new school on their own without state money, no problem. Receiving the state money is the key. This is a moot point anyways because it did not and will not happen.

And add north Baltimore and Riverdale to that list and before you know it you have a new conference

That's ridiculous. Again, I see what you're saying for small schools. There's a bunch out there and the state never even thought twice about giving them money when some clearly probably SHOULD be consolidated. But a couple years back there was an issue on the ballot here in Defiance for a new high school. It failed(which is good, cause there's nothing wrong with our current school), but let's just say it hadn't. Are you REALLY saying that a school the size of Defiance, which has no problems funding it's 20 sports and other activities, should consolidate with a school like Tinora or Ayersville(who ALSO aren't exactly having problems) just to get a new school?

Or in the more general BVC area, do you REALLY think that if Findlay ever needs a new school, the only way they should get it is to consolidate with someone like Van Buren? That's a ridiculous notion and you know it. Again, maybe the schools like HN, Vanlue, and the Ottoville/Fort Jennings example I used earlier in the thread should consolidate. Maybe they shouldn't, I'm not an expert. But forced consolidation for EVERY school in the state simply isn't needed. For every HN and Vanlue that are getting too small to survive, you've got multiple others that are doing just fine.

Hancock co. should have no more than three schools.

Findlay city. Live inside city limits and you go there.
Hancock North (VB area) and Hancock South. (Arlington area)

Or West ....(Some where between CR and LB) .and East...(Arcadia / Vanlue area)

Split the county as even as possible

Live outside of Hancock co.? you either don't go or you provide your own transportation to and from one of those 3 schools.

One could argue that Findlay did do some "consolidating" for their recent building project. Went from 3 middle scools to 2 and from 3 buildings to 1 for Millstream(vocational school).
