Trying to compare scheduling a football game to anything else is apples to oranges. With football you have a one week option, period.

You can do just about anything else any day of the week during that sports season. Heck in volleyball you can have tri and quad meets, tourneys, etc.
Always a watchful eyes on those Tiffin Calvert Senecas, Marion Local Flyers, Fort Loramie Redskins , New Albany Eagles.

Ada will incur a huge cost... You think they would rather go 8 miles or 100 miles? How about the inconvenience for the community? The cost to attend that game? It doesn't just affect the schools. The bussing alone for most of those schools will be large, going to Indiana and Michigan? Add into it bus drivers getting overtime. Some schools will have to stop and eat coming and going... The gate wasn't intended to cover that... The gate was intended to keep other sports like volleyball, softball, baseball, etc... going. Most small schools depend on football and boys basketball to generate 60-70% of their revenue for the YEAR. That allows them to field other sports. AD's can't help that... that's how it works...

Bob, just a friendly question. When is the last time you drove to Toledo, Akron, Cincy, the slums of Columbus and BFE locations like Richwood and South Charleston in monsoons and freezing rain.......to watch a volleyball match?

No it wasn't whining... Who wants to go to Michigan, Indiana, half way across Ohio for a game or play basically a club team in St. Wendilin... The 10 schools were lucky... period!
Unless you know what goes on in trying to schedule games, you really are clueless to the process. It's not that easy. It always amazes me that there are people who think scheduling is easy... Go be an AD and find out how easy it is.

Very well said.

Yet in what?...35 days? all ten found games. And nobody forced them into making those drives. They could have said thanks but no thanks. No one has to play 10

The quotes wouldn't have been so bad if the double standards weren't so obvious to those not blinded by the friday night lights

But ask yourself what if this had been volleyball? Every single AD would have said ho-hum, slapped on some more sunscreen and continued their summer vacation. The article in the paper wouldn't have been longer than 5 paragraphs. Not a single game would have been made up.

Or if HN had cancelled a basketball season on Sept 28? The likelyhood of a few making up games goes up but I wouldn't bet the farm they all do.

Really nice of you to make blanket accusations against ADs and say they wouldn't make up a volleyball match. You don't know that.

So....I've read at least a couple posts on here that think HN may never play another BVC football game. If that's the case, then the expanded BVC would have 12 schools. Would it be good to keep that number, or will the conference still try to go to 14? I think 12 is a good size...it offers extra non-conference exposure in all sports (compared to 14 teams). However, I have also read that the BVC should go after schools like Ada, Bluffton, Patrick Henry, etc. What about looking a different direction in schools like Carey and Mohawk? Hopewell-Loudan is already joining, so these 2 schools present a geographical "fit" in that regard. H-L and North Baltimore would give Carey and Mohawk 2 former league competitors (from the MAL) and Riverdale represents a former league member for both also (from the original NCC). I know these 2 schools are fierce rivals and would be near impossible to break up, but I think the timing might be right to consider asking both of these schools as potential 13th and 14th members.

This is a silly comparison because for just about all other sports, you play multiple times a week. Football is unique because of the few games played, and you only play once a week.

12 schools is fine, you can go two divisions, a play cross over games, or allow schools to schedule who they want, maximum flexibility. Everyone thinks there is a big push for schools to join the BVC? Ada, Bluffton, PH, Carey, Mohawk, are all in leagues now and I assume are happy in those leagues. PH would be silly to leave the NWOAL. HL and NB will be nice additions to the league.

It will be vary difficult for the Western league schools to vote any additional teams from the east. This was a nagative when Tiffin Calvert was interested in the BVC.

I explained that in a post but ff84 still has dreams of the Carey, Mohawk duo.

West isnt going to say yes to any more east. They would rather just stay at 12 if that becomes the only option.

I think 12 teams is fine, but I thought the "plans" were to expand to 14...and while everybody else seemed to be mentioning their "dream teams"....

I really don't think the west schools approving any eastern teams would be any different than North Baltimore voting for Ada to join...or any southern school voting for a school like Patrick Henry or Elmwood (all of these schools have been mentioned at one point or another). SOMEBODY is always going to be at the opposite side of the conference when expanding outward. What makes one side of the conference any more important than any other?

Vanlue and Hardin Northern should probably just join the NWCC. They added some southern schools Fort Loramie, Sidney Lehman but I don't see that as long term. They should add the Lue and HN along with Perry, USV, Riverside, Waynesfield Goshen, and Ridgemont. Giving them 7 teams that are all about the same size of enrollment.

USV dosen't even want to be in that league any more. Not sure where they'd go though. BVC already said thanks but no thanks.

Something to chew on. What if HN plays football in the NWCC but holds dual membership for all other sports?

The NWCC is on shaky ground. Why else do you think USV wants to get in the BVC?

Wouldn't be shocked if Perry and Waynesfield try for the NWC.

Perry and WG in NWC won't happen.
