Should be one of the better match-ups of the semi-final games.
O-G clearly needs to be better from the charity stripe, as the margin for error is slim, but I think they will matchup well with the fighting Tigers.

Prediction for Ironton to win 63-54, plus it has the starting line ups for both squads.

Before the tournament started Hefflinger from the Defiance Crescent predicted the tournament and had OG going to the state semis and losing to Ironton. Pretty good prediction so far, but lets hope he got the winner wrong on this one.

from this blogger:
http://elitetristate...ttawa-glandorf/

For Ottawa Glandorf this is a return to the final four and again they face a Southern powerhouse. Last year they lost 74-66 to Portsmouth in the final four. They return all 5 starters including 8 letterman from last year. They are a good experienced team that knows how to score. They are a deadly shooting team. They can hit 3s in bunches. Caleb Siefker and TJ Metzger lead the long range assault. Not to be over shadowed by their excellent post play. Once again this team has size.
Ironton (23-2) Ottawa Glandorf (24-3)
#34 G Josh Glover 5’11 #4 G Matthew Kaufman 5’11
#30 G Zac Carter 5’10 #32 G T.J. Metzger 6’1
#42 F Trevor White 6’3 #24 G Caleb Siefker 6’4
#44 F Trey Fletcher 6’6 #23 F Michael Rosebrock 6’4
#45 F Aaron Stephens 6’4 #31 F Noah Bramlage 6’7
The Titans also have another 6’7 bigman in Alex Westrik who sees playing time with Jake Leopold and Eric Beckman. TJ Metzger is the star for the Titans averaging 17 points per game. He can shoot from anywhere on the floor. Michael Rosebrock is very good in the post and makes good cuts to get open. He uses his post presence to average 14 points per game. Caleb Seifker is another shooting threat. He is a good shooter that can also drive to the basket. He can spot up for the shot or shoot off screens. Noah Bramlage is getting better game by game. His 6’7 frame allows him to shoot over defenders. He has good post moves and creates his own shot. He is aggressive and does not just stand in the paint. He is an excellent rebounder and defends well. Matthew Chewy Kaufman is a senior who has the experience and toughness to lead the team. He can shoot but does not have big stats. He started last year against Portsmouth in the Final Four, so this wont be his first big game. The Titans have a efficient offense but can play defense also. They use man to man but also like the 2-3 zone. Their 2-3 zone has won them a few games allowing them to use their size to keep opponents from second chances. Ironton will have to contest shots early to keep them honest. If they get hot and use the zone it could force Ironton to take shots they don’t need to take. Ironton has impressed all year long and I believe this game is what all those seniors expected. The Final Four is wide open. Cincinnati Summit Day and Roger Bacon were defeated. Versailles is hot but Ironton seems to have the advantage with Zac and Trey. Ottawa Glandorfs experience might keep them in this game. If Ironton can force turnovers then this game should be no different then their last 3 games. Coach Lafon has done a great job focusing the team one game at a time. My prediction Ironton 63 Ottawa Glandorf 54

A lot of insightful and probing discussion on that site regarding this game, RM.

Watched one of Ironton's regular season games on TV today. Very impressed by G Zac Carter. He scored 37 points in a little over 3 quarters. Can knock down the 3 and has a nice pull-up jumper. Will take it all the way to the hole if no one stops his dribble. Very quick and likes to make long passes in transition. Their bigs are all pretty thick. They don't run a lot of set plays for them but they seem to hit the offensive boards hard for 2nd chance opportunities. Wasn't overly impressed with the other 2 guards that started or anyone coming in off the bench. Played mostly man-to-man and some matchup zone and occasionally trapped. All 5 starters are seniors.

Speaking of OG, who was the gentleman representing the RC at the game last night in BG that was sitting in press row?

If this OG team is anything like last years team when Portsmouth beat them down, Ironton can easily win this game as this Ironton team is very similar to Portsmouth's team last year.. Ironton by 10+ Good luck from Portsmouth. BRING IT ON HOME TIGERS! With Roger Bacon being "upset" it leaves it even more open for Ironton to take!

Good luck Ironton! Will be there watching. At this point all the teams at the schott are the real deal. What's nice about Ironton is that the best player is on their team. Guard play in tournaments is crucial and they have the best one around. Supporting cast is not bad either! 68-64 ITOWN

The so called beat down by Portsmouth ended up at 8 points with an all senior [Portsmouth ] against a primarily underclassman team in OG. Portsmouth went on to lose to Summit in the final. Ironton lost 2 out of 3 games to Portsmouth last year also so they didn't fare any better than OG did.

Best of luck to OG. Wouldn't mind a matchup with them in the final so I can have some friendly ribbing with a few of my buddies.

If OG and Versailles would win tomorrow you would have the 3rd place WBL team playing the 4th place MAC team for a state title. Speaks to the strengths of the respective leagues.

This from the Cleveland Plain Dealer..........

Division III
Ironton (23-2) vs. Ottawa-Glandorf (24-3), Thursday, 10:45 a.m.
About Ironton: Not only have the Fighting Tigers not lost to a team from Ohio this season, they haven't had a close game since the first week of the season. They are the highest-scoring team in the division here (69.8), thanks to guard Zac Carter (23.9 ppg) and 6-6 forward Trey Fletcher (20.4 ppg). Ranked third in the state, they are making the school's third state semifinal appearance. It has never won a state title.
About Ottawa-Glandorf: This is the school's seventh appearance in the final four. It owns two state titles (2004 and 2008). It beat SVSM in the regional finals in 2004, one year post-LeBron James. Ranked fourth in the state, the Red Riders start four seniors and 6-7 sophomore Noah Bramlage. Guard T.J. Metzger leads with team with a 16.1 scoring average.
Versailles (22-5) vs. Leavittsburg LaBrae (24-3), Thursday, 2 p.m.
About Versailles: Out of the rugged Midwest Athletic Conference, the Tigers own the distinction of beating the team (St. Bernard Roger Bacon) that eliminated the team practically everyone thought was unbeatable (Cincinnati Summit Country Day). Sophomore Kyle Ahrens, a 6-5 guard, leads the team in scoring at 20 ppg. Versailles was the state runner-up in its only previous appearance in 2004.
About LaBrae: Coach Chad Kiser believes 6-7 junior Peyton Aldridge is the most versatile player in Ohio, and you would not get an argument from Beachwood. Aldridge, a two-time Inland District Player of the Year, was devastating against the Bison in the regional final, and he has been that way against most everyone, averaging 20.4 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. The Vikings have won 15 straight. This is the school's first appearance.
Final: Saturday, 10:30 a.m.
PD pick: Ironton over LaBrae.

I wonder where I can get one of those Ottawa Glandorf Red Riders t-shirts because I'd really like to have one....lol. The Plain Dealer guys likely couldn't tell you what direction Ironton or Versailles is from Columbus.....how would you expect them to make an informed decision on how things will play out.
