The basketball players had a meeting this morning to turn in uniforms. During this meeting Coach K announced to the players he was resigning because of family. I know the Fort Jennings JV coach, whos an elementary teacher at P-G, has shown some interest in getting a coaching position at PG.

And if you know how PG is rolling, they're going to hire a staff member to save some $$$$$, whether its the right choice or not. What do you think of this...?

I for one believe this was a outstanding decision for Coach K....but who knows, it could get worse :bag:

I heard the same.
I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

If Logan Smith is in line to take the job PG will be getting another young, inexperienced but energetic coach. He put in a couple of season as JV coach at Ft. Jennings. Pandora Gilboa is not exatcly a "destination job" so this is probably what they should get used to..........but don't turn it into a revolving door, find a guy and stick with him. We all know that all the coaching in the world can't help a team devoid of talent and I believe that was the situation with Coach Klear. Good luck to him and hopefully he can land on his feet somewhere in the future.

Coach Klear did as good of job as possible with the lack of talent in Rocketland. At some point, if the kids (and younger kids) don't respond, no use banging your head against the wall. Best of luck to Coach Klear, maybe he'll get back into coaching some day. Best of luck to the new coach, really need to work on the numbers and talent at the jr. high level, that's where you build the program, from the bottom up.

same ol' chit...........and in another 2-3 years we'll be hiring the next guy's replacement.......like someone said before, we might not be a "destination resort" but the kids deserve better than this......

Refresh my memory... Didn't sone Pandora fans treat Braidic like ******* while he was winning? He might have left anyhow... But is not as if the community has made a great effort to "understand." I thought Klear was a good coach too.

It takes a good person to tolerate the amount of time, tears, losing, and frustration a job like Pandora will inevitably present itself with. It is not a winning culture.

There are not a lot of coaching personalities cut out for THAT challenge.

Your either part of the problem or a part of the solution. Which are you?

I guess I don't really know that answer..........with our school board and the overall mentality of some of our parents, I am probably part of the problem if you really want to know. This school system has been tripping over our own 2 feet for as long as I can remember........zooom

Appreciate the honesty. Winning fixes almost everything. Wishing Klear the best, feel his leaving is premature. An 8 win season next year and he would be crowned royalty. A few breaks coulda made it this year. Was he the savior or could the next guy be....... Time will tell. TIME will tell.

As I've posted on another thread ...PG community as a whole doesnt really care or should I say prioritize winning ...not that there are not people that do care ...just seems that the majority don't seem to have the passion that most here on the corner share ...Sure they will have the occasional class that comes along and have a nice season but PG will NEVER have a solid sports program in any sport ...just not enough of us to support it ...

Whoever the next coach is, won't get through season #1 without some in the community questioning his competence. That is part of a losing culture. Decent human beings like Coach Klear can only take so much of this second guessing before they hand it off to somebody else. I don't know that this happened in this particular case. But it is common.

Coach Bradic was not run out if town by the community, it was only a few problem parents as is the case in most towns. Head coaches need thick skin, and I think Coach Klear was given the benefit of the doubt for the 3 years he was there. He left on his own for family first reasons. If Josh does coach again he would benefit from coaching under a experienced varsity coach. To go to a head coach right from junior high was a little to much for any coach. The boys have mixed feelings about this, The older boys don't know any other coach since they have had him since jr. high. There are a few that gave up basketball because of personality conflicts with Coah Klear, [as happens in all town]. Look for those boys to be back next year, a knew coach will make things new and exciting,[at least for a while] they are now looking forward to the summer, and having a chance to start fresh and prove themselves. The boys were a little burned out having the same coach from jr high on. New will be exciting for a while.

I think the board of education needs to consider hiring a non-employee for the position. A community member who could devote their time to the position that has previous playing/coaching experience and knows how to lead would benefit the program. The current Junior High class has some athletes, and if PG can hire a coach that can break down their egos, and then build them up to be focused on the team's potential if they put in the hard work, PG could have a few good seasons coming. Say what you want about the quality of players coming through, but a good coach develops a plan that suits his players' abilities. PG's success is as much about the coaching as it is about the players. A good coach still finds ways to win (slow the game down, speed the game up, run a particular style of offense/defense). The key is getting players to buy in to the system. Braidic was successful because his players bought in to his system (tough man defense, team play offensively). Those that didn't buy in, quit. I think that the teams were probably better off without those that couldn't handle the toughness, as it kept unity amongst the team(s). If PG can hire another coach that will lay down the law, and get his players to understand, "you play hard or I'm not playing you," the program can turn the corner. Otherwise, I fear the cycle will continue...

I can't get beyond the statement suggesting Pandora has some basketball "egos" that need breaking down. I'm not making fun of the analysis. I AM making fun of the state of society.

Sent this news to a buddy of mine who is a Pandora Gilboa alum and here was his reply:

We at Pandora don't get caught up in "competition."

This must be directed strictly at the boys' programs. The girls' programs seem to be "attempting to get better" and compete. :shrug2:

PG, like many schools, has ups the downs with talent. They had a very good run of boys football and basketball for most of the early 2000's. Just stuck in a run of not so good athletes. I do feel starting a soccer program hurt the football program, but they may be getting things turned around. PG's girls have been competitve for years.
