Watched the game on tape on Sunday, When the coach is scared the players play the same way. Thus 32 turnovers.

I agree with Flounder.....wow, can't believe that I would ever say that...lol.....
Refs did not lose the game for the Big Green. No breaks down the stretch but clearly got out coached again in a big game. Coach K is all alone on the bench. No help when things start going the wrong way.
Yes, Kaufman would have helped big time. Like I said before, great job getting to state even with losing your starting point guard. Almost unheard of when a small school loses most athletic player and still makes it to the big dance.

Congrats to the seniors ! No one can surpass their record the last 4 years!

bron bron....

I knew sooner or later that you and I would be on the same page......it happens all the time and glad to see that this little baby step will lead to a long lasting friendship.....I am constantly developing more friendships on the Rocketcorner than I ever imagined....some were very stubborn in the past, but eventually something I do wins them over........see you later buddy!!!!!

sterio.....

In my post 114, I pretty much summed up what you just said.....hey, Ottoville had a great team this past season....I still feel the team with the Wenzlicks was better......people in Putnam County bow and worship Kleman....and rightfully so, but he has now been out coached three times....once by Schlachbach and the other two by Ft Loramie's coach when I felt they were the superior team.......Ottoville played out of control ball and that is exactly what teams do when Loramie presses.....hence the 32 turnovers.....Kleman could not calm them down......also, he knew very briefly into the game exactly how the refs were calling it......make adjustments...arms straight up on D for the big girls.....I also agree with your analogy about how Ottoville uses the bigs.....

Next the inside game is Ottoville's bread and butter....use it to your advantage....he didn't.....I won't give my opinion anymore, but I have viewed 3 of Ottoville's debacles...the 3 I mentioned above...and in all three games, everything I mentioned applied.....that game was a weird game to watch....officiating was horrible....53 turnovers...suspect coaching....typical state refs and typical state tournament!!!!

Flounder I like Kleman as a coach and give respect to him when it is due but I also feel when Jeff was there, he was very undervalued as a coach. Like I said I will say this part once and move on but you can't make adjustments in the game if the officials do not allow (refer to my comment above). I also thought their last state team back in 07 was better than this years team, better competition and a much deeper team. I think what is overlooked though about this game is that both teams defensive pressure was pretty good. Which I thought caused majority of the turnovers. I don't think this game had anything to do with being out coached, just the fact that Ottoville lost this game more than Fort Loramie won it. Lack of composure throughout the whole game is what I seen. Like I said Ottoville was and is still the best team they just don't have anything to show for it.

FYI I could get in trouble for saying this, lmao, but when I seen that 3 out of the 4 officials were females, I knew as a fan we would be in for a deficient game.

I did, very impressive. So Friday I was sitting in the V Club and had my suspicions as to who you were but then I realized you were not even down there if I recall you were watching your boys team?

Yes Flounder, your analysis is fairly accurate most of the time. I just hate to admit it.

I forgot about this game after my first cocktail back at the hotel !

Lebron, better check your stats. While I agree that The Big Green seniors had awesome careers, you are remiss to say no one can surpass their record the last 4 years. The Anna seniors exceeded 100 victories in their 4 years, with the win on Saturday I think it came them 101 wins, which is phenominal. I think Ottoville was between 90 and 100...I bet I was in attendance for more than 50 of them.

I really enjoyed watching Abby and Rachel grow over the years. They fed off of one another. My only concern for Rachel is that she is going to struggle at the college level without Abby to feed her the ball. Abby made her. Hopefully she can find another teammate that is willing to "share the wealth" like Abby did.

As far as the game Friday, I thought Ottoville played scared for the good part of the first half, but so did Fort Loramie. Although I don't ever blame a loss on officiating, the crew that did this game was bad and the OHSAA should definetly review the game film and make a decision as to whether they should officiate any state games in the future. The most frustrating thing is that Ottoville had the much better team, but did not play to their potential, but on the big stage, you have to rise to the occassion.

What determines what officials get to do state games? Do they take a team of officials that work the regular season together? Or do they put the 'teams' together to do the state games? I think 'teams of officials' should be chosen. There is one official who I despise seeing at a high school contest and that is Blagovich (sp?) who did the Anna game on Saturday...that guy is awful.

Finally, I read several posts about Fort Loramies guard, D. Rose, and while I agree that she was good, I don't think she was as good as others would have you believe.

Honestly I thought Abby played good but not great. I thought she did well on the defensive side of things and really controlled the boards, but her offensive game struggled. Too many times have I seen Abby make a poor choice that caused her to get into foul trouble or to miss these makeable shots inside the paint. I think she had one game where she stood out better than everyone but to me Rachel Beining played better than what most people give her credit for. Stewart I think she will be fine. I think you give Siefker too much credit for her success. Like I said before I didn't think they utilized the both of them as much as they should have.

As for Fort Lormaie's Rose, I thought she underperformed in this game. Grant it I only seen her play once but I thought the Palmer girl was better than Rose. I'd even say that she was no better than Turnwald. But she is only a junior if I am correct, so should be one of the top players next year.

I agree with you 100% about Rachel Beining and her play on Friday. She was amazing. I knew she had that in her, but I must say I was surprised to see it on the 'big' stage. She turned it on when the team needed her to and she played great. However, I think Abby gave up some opportunities that she could have taken and gave the opportunity to Rachel. The one thing I loved was seeing Rachel diving on the floor for loose balls and showing some great hustle. I have seen that over the years, but there was something a little more on Friday.

I hated to see Oville lose, but when you lose to the eventual state champ it makes it a little easier to accept. Just makes you wonder what would have been had we played one of our better games, I don't think we even had to play our 'best' game to win, but we will never know. I did have a really good feeling that the winner of the Oville Fort - Loramie game would be the state champ.

Berlin Hiland comes into the tournament so over rated a lot of years. I was surprised that they were not better than what they were considering their schedule.

Fort Loramie made everyone in the tournament play their worst game of the season except maybe Marion Local. Thats why they won it all.

Now I know why I never read threads on the Girls Basketball Forum. . . .lol

I would probably pay closer attention if E. F. Hutton was speaking instead of Merrill Lynch, they
are far too bullish on the subject.

I've not seen Ottoville before Friday & have only seen FL a few times - neither team was impressive on Friday for sure.

IMO, one thing that really hurt Ottoville was Loramie's depth. The coach has confidence in all her players & didn't hesitate to substitute ... a lot and the players coming into the game are not afraid to do what they need to do.

I thought Ottoville looked unimpressive at times for being undefeated, #1 in D4.

I think many times when the competition gets better, teams don't look as impressive. Ottoville is legit, has been legit. It's easy to stand off to the side and see what teams weaknesses. Having the right personnel to expose a teams weaknesses is a completely different story.
