If you want to be entertained, stop being a tighta** and start buying tickets to NBA games.

I would much rather watch Holgate than any NBA game!!!!!!!!!

Wow 20-18 that is a good 1st qtr. score for some teams. I understand that holding the ball gives a lesser team a chance of winning but, 20-18 is why passing a High School shot clock is high on the list for many basketball watchers. I do however agree that a game like this is more fun to watch than a100+ to 25 blowout. Great debate

.......to add to my earlier post....I WOULD pay to watch Holgate/Continental before I'd pay to watch an NBA game. I consider the NBA to mean "Not Basketball Anymore".

Good for Holgate. However, I will never watch them again. I have had more fun having a root canal.

If you coached a small school that couldn't handle playing bigger schools with better althetes and wanted to win how would you do it? N the reason why the Holgate girls are good in the younger levels are bc of the coaching on the boys side they dnt have any descent coach's till they get to freshman ball which used to Manke's ast. what large schools with all these athletes has holgate added to their schedule? they don't play any toledo st johns or columbus northlands. then the talk of holgate's dominance. they did not start that until they stopped playing in the putnam county sectional in ottawa and moved to the weak northern bracket with the likes of stryker, montpelier, and other powerhouse teams of the northern border league part. :coffee: it is hard to doubt he has been successful as he has a state title from i believe 04. at the same time he has wasted some talent over the years, coming to mind first are the likes of adam kuhlman and the junge brothers in the 90's. he is a coach you either love or hate. it seems that this topic gets argued about every year towards the end of the season.

Labatt,

All of the teams with the players you mentioned made it to Regionals. Not sure how that is wasting talent.

Louden u sure on that? I know we went in 94 and they were not there as it was ayersville, lb, and usv. I believe kuhlman and taller junge graduated in 95. I don't remember them playing in regionals in 93 or 95 but maybe mistaken.

I'm not a fan of teams that overuse the "stall ball" technique. I believe there's a time and place for it. It reminds me of when Kalida went to state several years back. Since they are an area team I was really excited for them and wanted them to win. They ended up playing "stall ball" all 4 quarters!!! I was so frustrated that by the end of the 3rd I was cheering for their opponent! I couldn't believe a team would go all the way to state - and then not REALLY play the game! During the 4th quarter their opponent took the lead and then gave them a dose of their own medicine - and Kalida lost. I honestly thought Kalida and their coaches looked like fools!

You must have slept thru games @ delphos St. John's in the Noroit (or however you spell it) days because that is how they beat some good and eventually won state I think it was 02. Stall in the last quarter.

Oh Dearest Stud... I said I'm not a fan of "stall ball" and I meant it...I don't care WHO the team is.... I've seen DSJ pull that crap too and dislike it just as much when they do it. Alot of times the team stalling wishes they had the time back and it bites them in the a$$ in the end. Wasn't picking on Kalida - just the most recent EXTREMELY boring state game that I recall.....

BTW Stud.... Your constant need to mention DSJ leads me to believe that you have an infatuation with DSJ....I would've figured it out sooner but it was your hatred that fooled me! LOL

I abhor the "stall ball" technique, but if it helps a team be competitive, so be it. I'm just glad I don't have to see it very often.

Holgate doesn't play basketball. They play KEEP AWAY. Defense is good to watch, but whats up with the offense. Stalling, keep away....?

I think ALL coaches objective is to outscore the other team. This is done by taking "quality" shots for your team and limiting quality attempts for the other team. Wayno's definition of a "quality" shot is just much more narrow than most people who would have their team chuck up a shot just because they are getting bored waiting for a "quality" shot.
