Winny,
There are always perceived slights in a vote such as this....Usher knows about as much about girls basketball as the janitor at the school. He didn't make up this list on his own. He called some coaches and they gave him names. I don't think going D1 has much weight....
Going D1 and excelling there are entirely different.....How this list doesn't include ANYONE from DSJ just shows how clueless it is....and to not include Carlee Roethlisberger from Findlay is laughable.....he might say that Findlay isn't included in the area, but it's a hell of a lot closer than a lot of those schools to the south

Agree on the Roethlisberger girl. What about the Shlagel (sp?) that played for Wapak a few years back? And what about Heisten's kid at Shawnee. Didn't She go to Toledo?

To do this right and to include at least a half an hour in all directions in a 25 year span, they would have had to do an unbelievable amount of research. They should have just contained it to Lima and it's local schools.

If the janitor is also the girls basketball coach I might agree. Otherwise, you're all wet as per usual.

Who from DSJ would you include and who would you toss off the list? I'm not saying there isn't someone worthy but the great DSJ teams I've seen typically haven't contained any superstars.

Yeah, and Findlay has its own paper, which is why Lima doesn't cover Findlay. Man, are you really this dense?

paperboy.......

I take it that your username ties you in with the Lima News...just putting 2 and 2 together....remember Columbo. Naturally you are going to defend Mr Usher. I find it rather amusing that 4 Lima Senior girls and one from Perry were listed...2 schools with very little girls basketball tradition and tournament history......I am sure we could argue some of these selections...Rocketman is correct in his referral concerning DSJ players....Traci Gorman and Rachel Pohlman were better than some of those Usher listed....Gorman maybe not the past 25, but very close....Ottoville also has had some great one's, but Karla Wenzlick definitely was one of their best....and just because Findlay has its own newspaper...well, so does Delphos, but we still are covered by the Lima News......and last time I checked....Findlay is closer to Lima than Fort Recovery and Maria Stein, so your point in that regard is mute......

paperboy you might want to be more careful the next time before using words like "dense", "your all wet"!!!!!!

Thank you to Mr. Usher for giving girls basketball some attention. And I apologize for those here who feel the need to rip anyone who has an opinion that doesn't perfectly match their own. Geesh! How about some of you make up your own list so we can tell you how ignorant you are.

As for DSJ players, Traci Gorman is outside the time frame. Rachel Pohlman maybe makes the list but I'm certainly not going to be upset if she's not included. I can't think of any other DSJ player since 1989 who should make the list.

First of all Bobby...1989 is only 24 years, and I think Rachel Pohlman was good enough to make the list, although I am not losing any sleep over it...... I think it was a great list comprised by Mr Usher....my complaint was issued at 'paperboy'.....now, if 'paperboy' and Tom Usher are the same person...well  .......it's a possibility I never really considered....and by the way...why should you feel the need to apologize....... it's America...we still do have freedom of speech, but that may be in jeopardy also!!!!!

Trisha McDaniel from Leipsic. 1000 points and 1000 rebounds in high school. Played at Findlay and was all-American.

Not sure where to start here, but...

1) No affiliation with the Lima News or Mr. Usher. Back when I registered for this site I was a stringer for a small paper but that's all I have in common with journalism.
2) I have no idea whether the girls from Lima that are on the list are qualified or not - my opinions were directed specifically at Elton's silly criticisms.
3) Traci Gorman graduated in 1987 = longer than 25 years ago = shouldn't be in discussion. Rachel Pohlman? Maybe, but both you and Bobby say it's no big deal so what's the problem?
4) The Lima News doesn't cover Findlay high school sports too much (please correct me if I'm wrong). It does, however, cover the MAC and considers its teams 'local' (except for Versailles, I guess). Thus, it only makes sense that some former MAC players would be on the list but not Findlay Trojans. Distance from Lima makes no difference - it's about who gets covered on a regular basis.
5) 'Mute' would mean my point can't speak, which I guess technically you're right about, but I think you meant 'moot'.
6) See point number (5) regarding you telling me who I should call dense.
7) As for being all wet, you may want to remember your raincoat, Columbo

paperboy......

'mute' is the word I meant to use...not 'moot'....and in my reference yes, I was technically right......I think Roethlisberger(sp) should be included......it's funny how the Lima News more or less picks the Limaland teams they want....and to take some MAC teams but not others makes no sense.......

XMAS.......

Great list!!!!

Flounder.....a point can be "moot"....a point cannot be "mute" that doesn't even make sense. Paperboy was trying to help you improve your use of the english language and you shot him down....I'm guessing he won't try to help you again......lol

moot
1 [moot] Show IPA
adjective
1.
open to discussion or debate; debatable; doubtful: a moot point.
2.
of little or no practical value or meaning; purely academic.

Now that that's taken care of.....Shelly Bellman of OG needs to be on this list somewhere. Big East Freshmen of the year. If it wasn't for all the issues with her knee, she'd probably be in consideration for the Top 5.
