I happened on to our last poll and noticed a bit of grumbling...first from 'grub', which I overlooked, but then 'von' spoke up, and I feel that if a poster from California isn't happy, then Rocketman and Flounder should respond in a timely manner....I didn't realize it has been 2 weeks since our last edition, and am certainly glad it was brought to our attention......Rocketman and Flounder take great pride in putting out a fine product.....

There have been some changes in all 4 of my polls in this Valentine Day's Edition of our polls....D1 has a big shakeup as Fairmont drops from the numero uno slot...in D3 Archbold moves up the ladder as one half of the 'famous individuals' is seeing the light....Berlin Hiland remains in the top spot in D4.....Hiland is my choice to bring home the crown in D4 as they seem to be peaking at the right time...and just a word of caution......look out for Marion Local in D4...I saw them recently and they are very good...it has taken them awhile to jell since they brought home the volleyball trophy, but seem to be hitting stride...they will be a tough out in the tournament...

Well here are my current rankings and I know that my partner Rocketman will follow shortly with his addition....we will once again be handing out our prestigious trophies to our mythical champions at the Varsity Club during state tournament weekend.....hope you can be in attendance for this event as it will be a major highlight to the conclusion of the season.....as always, feel free to leave a response and let us know how you really feel about the best rankings in Ohio.....no sugarcoating please....and yes..."We Know Girls HS Basketball"

Good to see Landess back. I really like his post and he says what he thinks or is that he should think before he says? Just giving you a hard tim Landess. Now, this is the real Joe Bob right?

Don't sleep on Bath. Their wins may be ugly but still find a way to win especially with a tough schedule. So the 5 losses may fool you. Much better team than West Branch which I think has a pretty cupcake schedule. Bath may not be top 10 worthy but worthy enough to be mentioned in your accurate rankings.

Can't tell me I'm the biased type! Lol I'm a Celina supporter!

Marion Local has all the tools to make a run in D4. They are long, good speed, athletic, good coach. However their downfall has been fizzling out in the 2nd half and they make a lot of dumb turnovers. They had 21 turnovers in a home game vs bath but still lossed by 4. If they learn how to take care of possessions they will do some damage.

they are getting the teams setup for the tourney. they like to pick best teams by region so as to have a nice showing when we get to the final 8 or so. happens every year once the brackets come out. thats the trend i have noticed over the years.

kaizen.....

Does that formula work....actually, to be honest with you, I rank teams not by record, but tournament experience, sos, coach, conference they play in, tradition, and a couple other intriguing factors......and usually it works.....take Hathaway Brown for example....they have 5 losses this season...which is pretty much the norm every year for them.....but you know what....they are always right there....Rocketman and I view so many games during the season...sometimes we are wrong, but I will take our polls over the AP fellas any day.....I will admit...Versailles has been on a slide here lately, and I know Miami East beat them......big deal....tournament time is a whole new ballgame....another example....Berlin Hiland.....they beat West Holmes recently.....Ottoville hasn't come close to beating a quality opponent like West Holmes.....Landess has griped many times in the past, but in the end, guess who is right.......not trying to brag, but the results are there every season....sure, we miss some, but in the end we are usually right more than we are wrong.........let it play out and we will see if our polls are better than the AP polls.....and also remember...our polls hit the press earlier than the other guys poll!!!!!!!!!!!!!

actually my theory works as well. pick the 3 or 4 best teams in the regions they play in and you can pretty much count on them reaching the regionals. hath brown is a no brainer. west holmes is pretty much a lock. oville & crestview are odds on favorite in nw ohio. 1 of the 2 will make it to regionals. jackson and maysville are listed for the southeast-a good chance they advance pretty far. bottomline, is if you list the better teams by region youll be pretty close. barring upsets and your actually golden.I agree that win loss records mean nothing, thats the real flaw with the ap poll, they rely on records more than where, geographically they are in the state and how their road to the regionals work out. pick the odds on favorite in each bracket and again barring upsets, it will be real close in the sweet sixteen or final 8.

doesnt matter when the other poll come out. it is flawed as i stated above. once the brackets come out its much easier to place teams based on geography and what regional they will play in. without knowing, my guess is that brookhaven and eastmoor plays in se region - we all know how weak they are, thus a brookhaven or eastmoor has a shot in that region. onto the ohsaa website to check where they go.

interesting both brookhaven and eastmoor are 1 and 2 seeds that funnel to sw regional. both would lose to alter in finals. another interesting fact of your poll is that all but d2 have 16 teams listed. 16 teams are what you need to fill out brackets for regional semis. pick the seeds in each region and you will be close to picking the final 16. picking 10 to 12 out of 16 isnt really that difficult.

Miami East beat Versailles by double figures at Versailles. Apparently you aren't intelligent enough to see what that score means. Don't even take in to fact that Miami East is on a huge streak and only has one loss. That one loss was to Anna btw.

The rocket boy and flubbed rankings have always been more about ranking by region as opposed to the top teams. The top 4 teams in southwest Ohio division 1 are better than everyone in the nw and quite possibly the central. However since only 2 make the regional final, several inferior teams will stay around longer. This is how flubbed and rocksalt manipulate their rankings.
