I don't even have words for how good it feels to have Archbold not only play well against a seriously awesome team in the WBL, but beat them.
Matthias was a freaking beast. He scored 35 points and was unbelievable from all over the field, Archbold just played their hearts out tonight.
It helped that Frank FINALLY got going and scored 21 points, and he was scoreless at half-time and Dietrich had 24 points.
It also helped that we were hitting three pointers, inside, and FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY hitting from the charity stripe. I cried when Dietrich hit all his free throws (Not really, but it was beautiful) and Frank hit his too.

The last time I felt that good about a win was when Archbold who was huge underdogs, beat Johnstown Monroe to make it to State in March 2006.

I can't remember seeing Archbold play that well in a LONG time. It's been a few seasons when they played with fire and tenacity.

Archbold played really well, but in my opinion only a select few players can guard Mathias during the whole. He is one heck of a player and has a chance to be better than Mr. Mcadams himself

Would this be considered that big of a suprise? Archbold is a good team from a good program.

Agreed, even though Arch is a D3 team playing a D2 team........the Blue streaks play a very competitive schedule. Archbold is 9-2 with losses to OG and Bryan???.

Elida is 8-4 and are very beatable as long as Mathias doesn't go off.

Without Dakota, Elida would be a 6-16 team heading into the tournament and Dakota is already a better basketball player than Mr. McAdams. (Not a better athlete)

Agree on both counts. I'd like to know how much practice time this kid has had compared to other high schoolers. There isn't a shot he's not familiar with

who would they beat except maybe Shawnee?? I would say better offense player. Reggie does alot of other things a little better then Dakota. I would take either on my team and not complain one bit.

He supposedly has a inside BB court at his house.

They may have a lot of history and have been good in the past, but last year and this year they have been down (at least for Archbold standards).

Archbold was predicted to lose by at least 10 points by both the Elida radio station and even the Archbold station prognosticators had them losing big. I know other people expected Elida to win by double digits. That couple with the fact that Archbold just finally got one of their starters from last year back on Friday, and he only played three total minutes Saturday, and they were down 15 at halftime and came back, I would say yeah, it's a pretty big surprise/upset. (This is also couple with the fact that Elida beat Archbold by over 20 points last year and the game was at Archbold led into some of the thinking that Archbold just wasn't fast/athletic enough and was horrible from the free throw line. They were 65% going in. Last night they improved that a lot.).

Streaks were 9-10 from the free throw line in overtime. That will win you a bunch of ball games. Elida will go nowhere come tourney time if they do not get a consistent second scorer. Dakota is great, but even he can't shoulder the entire scoring load himself. Elida played pretty near the same type game on Friday night, get up big early then hang on. Saturday night, they just ran out of gas. Always tough for one player to beat a team.
I am a Spartan, as was my father before me.

First of all, this is not good for the WBL that's for sure as even Streak fans were not exactly impressed by their team so far this year or last. Secondly, if I'm an Elida backer, I'm very concerned because so far the Dawgs just haven't been able to come up with a consistent second scorer. Mathias can't score 30-plus every night, so for them to make a run in March somebody is just going to have to develop somehow, some way, so this might be in reality the biggest challenge coach Thompson has had so far in his tenure. Don't get me wrong, I really respect & like him as a coach. We fear him much, much more than the predecessor, but he's got some pressure on him to develop at least some consistency. That being said, I hope that development comes after our game at the Fieldhouse
