Archbold Upsets Elida

Matthias was a freaking beast. He scored 35 points and was unbelievable from all over the field, Archbold just played their hearts out tonight.
It helped that Frank FINALLY got going and scored 21 points, and he was scoreless at half-time and Dietrich had 24 points.
It also helped that we were hitting three pointers, inside, and FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY hitting from the charity stripe. I cried when Dietrich hit all his free throws (Not really, but it was beautiful) and Frank hit his too.
The last time I felt that good about a win was when Archbold who was huge underdogs, beat Johnstown Monroe to make it to State in March 2006.
I can't remember seeing Archbold play that well in a LONG time. It's been a few seasons when they played with fire and tenacity.

Agreed, even though Arch is a D3 team playing a D2 team........the Blue streaks play a very competitive schedule. Archbold is 9-2 with losses to OG and Bryan???.
Elida is 8-4 and are very beatable as long as Mathias doesn't go off.

Agree on both counts. I'd like to know how much practice time this kid has had compared to other high schoolers. There isn't a shot he's not familiar with

who would they beat except maybe Shawnee?? I would say better offense player. Reggie does alot of other things a little better then Dakota. I would take either on my team and not complain one bit.

Archbold was predicted to lose by at least 10 points by both the Elida radio station and even the Archbold station prognosticators had them losing big. I know other people expected Elida to win by double digits. That couple with the fact that Archbold just finally got one of their starters from last year back on Friday, and he only played three total minutes Saturday, and they were down 15 at halftime and came back, I would say yeah, it's a pretty big surprise/upset. (This is also couple with the fact that Elida beat Archbold by over 20 points last year and the game was at Archbold led into some of the thinking that Archbold just wasn't fast/athletic enough and was horrible from the free throw line. They were 65% going in. Last night they improved that a lot.).
