Get a clue Rd2Glory......

Matt Huffman. Had 2 sons at LCC. He's a lawyer. Yes they play sports.

I think you have been taken by LJ.

Lol what?!?! I highly doubt that's who he is talking about. Unless he takes issue with Matt Huffman paying tuition for his own sons?

Edit: upon further review, if Jock was being sarcastic, as he often is, then I have been fooled. Tough to pick up online though. If he wasn't being sarcastic, I'd still like to hear some details.

I am offended :furious: by the comment that I am sarcastic :argue: . MOVING ON: Now, as witty :coffee: as I am this one is true. Out of respect for the kids, the parents, and FLOUNDER :shrug2: [the nice guy that he is] I will only add that the school that they were from met with LCC [IN PERSON :wedgie: ] concerning the issue and also sent info/letter to OHSAA. I would suggest it was a shot across the lines to ensure everyone knew they would not allow this to happen. It worked. Never heard of MR Lawyer rooting around any after that. Muckraking at its finest.

seems like Flounder is associated with a private school himself if he keeps calling public schools "wussies" you try taking kids from one school district and face a school who can recruit a whole area and u try to win...

I can see a scenario where this passes, and the Private Schools break away from the OHSAA. Then they do not need to adhere to any recruiting rules and they will recruit wide open. Not much the OHSAA can do about it….except refuse to give Public Schools that play Private Schools any Harbin computer points.

I think something like that happening is why DSJ should be totally against this, because I don’t think they'd play that game.

Flounder loves everyone.......even the home schooled....but, I do think the pubics are wussies for wanting to have separate tournaments...one for privates...one for the pubics......not all pubics....just the ones contributing to the 'wussification' of America!!!!!!

Yes, It's grown a lot over the last decade. LCC and other small private schools are all struggling for money, which is why the "controlling enrollment" accusations are so absurd.

The attendance at mass thing is only for the student. In order to receive the scholarship, the family has to be active parishoners. However, if a family is active, but the student never shows up to church, he/she won't get the scholarship (sort of a controversial rule that was implemented a few years ago). I'm pretty sure the "rules" are the same for all four parishes, but I suppose they're subject to change whenever the pastor decides. Also, while all part of the same "Catholic community," these scholarships are solely through the Catholic Parishes and have nothing to do with financing from LCC. There is no discount/scholarship from LCC for being Catholic.

What say, if the family and student were active in St. Mary's Parish in Bluffton? Or are we talking simply St. Rose, St. Gerard and the other one that I cannot remember? (Assuming there is another Lima Catholic Church.... which with my memory is no sure thing...)

Well, remember, this scholarship is given out by the individual parish and is completely unaffiliated with LCC. So, if St. Mary's Parish in Bluffton wanted to give money to any of their parishioners to attend Catholic high school (or for any other reason for that matter) then that's their business. The 4 Catholic parishes in Lima are completely separate from LCC in terms of finances, leadership, and everything else. They are only connected in that the majority of kids from the Catholic Grade schools attend LCC and they're all part of the Catholic community in Lima.

He said "try to win" against the private schools. I'm just showing him it's been done before. We haven't beat Ursuline...yet. Who cares?? You've got some kind of superiority complex or something, thinking that our state title wins against Mooney are somehow not good enough because they were missing a key player. News flash...so were the Cavs in 2007. Of course, folks conveniently forget that part of the deal. It's not our fault that Mooney didn't have an all-world replacement for McCarthy. You play the hand you're dealt, and both teams did just that.

Your attitude is almost like "if it's not Jefferson, it's not worth noting".

Wilco......

I do not consider Coldwater being one of those teams that want to divide public from private.....last I heard, none of the MAC schools felt a division was necessary...the Cavaliers will not back down from anybody.....something more publics should do!!!!!!

Coldwater has had one heck of a 17 year run. We shall see how they feel in a few years from now. Times change.

If a school like Coldwater had a private school in their back yard like schools in Lima do, I think eventually once the inbreeding [definition: very large, strong, fast athletes who are all related to each other somewhere in the family tree-no disrespect intended.] stopped their would be defections to the private school and the community would be upset.

Flounder, Was that nice enough or did I step off the verbal cliff???

Perfect.....I don't think anyone will be upset.....although the remark about inbreeding is very close to causing some turmoil....hey, you can always apologize later....that's what nice guys like you and me do....just apologize and be nice.....being nice sounds better than kissing ass!!!!!

I have no stats to back this up, but I would imagine the catholic schools lose more students to bath, elida, and Shawnee each year than they gain. Until recently, that was also true for Lima Senior, though 10 years from now I imagine it will once again be true for Lima Senior as "vouchers" will come over in the early grades (as opposed to many currently switching between 5th and 8th grade as the system is implemented).
