I do think it is good that there is a two year scheduling agreement, so all parties do Not have scramble to find someone to play.

Thats like cutting it off with your g/f or b/f but keeping em around for the "friends with benefits." NWC doesn't want a relationship, but stick around so we don't have to feel so empty inside for 2 years.

The lack of understanding never ceases to amaze me from some posters here on the rocketcorner. The sole reason that LCC is on the schedule of other nwc teams is because that was the exit plan that they asked for. Use some common sense, the member schools only have to replace one game on the schedule while LCC has to cover the entire schedule. That is 10 football, 22 basketball boys and girls, golf, cross country, track, wrestling, volleyball, baseball, softball, boys and girls soccer. Could you do it in a year Emerson?

It is also safe to assume that LCC would like to continue a relationship with many of the nwc schools. Those on this message board focus exclusively on football and basketball, Mr. Williams does not have that luxury. Non revenue sports have to play locally to save money on transportation and to generate bigger gates. That means continue playing local nwc teams,It is common sense.

Hope that helps Emerson

Playing teams that are as good and a little better will help you get better. Playing a team who is 2 levels above you just destroys a team. So I agree it will hurt the top half teams in the NWC but your lower half shouldn't have to play a Division II team in conference.

But I think it will hurt LCC equally. What do the kids have to play for during season?? Pride can only go so far. No tough conference games will hurt you in the playoffs.

WBL should send Defiance packing to Napolean's league and add LCC. I dont know if Elida, Bath, Shawnee would like that but their wallets would love it.

When I was at LCC, I didn't really care about winning the NWC. I cared just as much (or more) about beating DSJ and Columbus Ready as I did against Jefferson or Crestview. I can only speak for myself, but, to me, it was a lot more important to beat teams that were quality opponents or would get us more computer points for the playoffs.

Being "NWC Champs" was a nice title, but it would've meant absolutely nothing to me if we went 8-2 and missed the playoffs.

I guess that sort of thing is part of the reason why LCC was never a good fit for the NWC in the first place.

How many did you win during your time in school? If memory serves Ada got you a few times in your day.

In football, 3 (2 as an actual contributor to varisty). Ada beat us my senior year.

For the record, I would include Ada on that DSJ and Ready list, didn't mean to offend any Bulldog fans. There was a poster who said that LCC wouldn't have anything to play for without being able to win the NWC crown. I was just pointing out to him that, at least for me, that wasn't really at the top of the list of things I was playing for in the first place.

2006 LCC
2007 LCC
2008 Ada
2009 Ada
2010 LCC
2011 LCC

I apologize. Forgot we weren't in the league Coops first year. We played and beat I think 6 NWC teams that year (Grove, Bluffton, Jefferson, Spencerville, Ada, and Allen East off the top of my head) including two of the co champs. Also, our seniors later played for the NWC in the all star game, but you are correct, we were not NWC champs my freshman year (again, I didn't play any varsity that year so wouldn't really consider it a "championship" for me anyways). I guess that shows I was being honest about only caring about each individual game and not necessarily the title of "NWC Champ"

I'm not trying to say the NWC is bad or anything (that's a different conversation), just pointing out that, based on my experiences, LCC players won't feel like they have less to play for.

Purely speculation here, but I would assume they had a desire to join a conference for schedule and continuity purposes. If they were able to become conference champs that would be an additional perk, but collecting conference championship trophies wasn't on the list of reasons to join I would imagine.

If I'm the NWC I don't care what they can or can't get done in a year. Everyone wanted them out then let them go. Easy to replace one game for a particular sport if your the NWC, and Since LCC isn't in the league anymore, screw em. Find your own schedule. Why does the NWC care what LCC does if they don't want them in the league. An exit plan they asked for? That's obvious. Why did the NWC oblige?

I have been sitting back reading this post ( and still trying to figure out if it is in correct forum..lol) but anyway, this post required a speculation response.
A very good reason for the NWC to not say "see ya" and instead schedule with LCC for a few years could very well be because LCC willingly left and did not request a vote. I have no idea who would have voted what way, but without a vote..nobody does, and schools that did in fact want LCC out would not have to publicly place their name in the "yes" to evict.

They had played many of the teams before they joined the conference., and I thought collecting trophies are a goal of every league member in every conference?

LOL...So your in a league but you dont care if you win it. LOL>>>>>You make LCC look like the pathetic people they are. You win the league, playoffs take care of themselves. That is every teams goal when they start a season.

Obviously, the goal is to win games and if you have trophies that means you're winning games. But I imagine the reason LCC wanted to join a conference initially was for scheduling and continuity purposes. If you ask the LCC faithful, I would bet they are all just as proud of the 2005 season (9-1, lost in regional championship, independent) as they are the 2006 season (9-1, lost in regional championship, NWC champs)
