Just got back from the McComb/DSJ game. Heck of a finish. Great effort by both teams. Up until the fourth quarter, McComb's defense seemed like it couldn't make the big play to get off the field, constantly giving up long plays on 3rd down. However, they steeped up big in the 4th quarter, and that was the turning point. Brown's big INT, followed by a 3 and out on the following possession when they were down 21-20. Then the fumble recovery to end the game. Their defensive play is what got them to week 14.

That being said, McComb is going to need to trust their passing game much more next week. If so, this team has all the makings of winning a title.

Best of luck to the Panthers. Represent the BVC!

With these teams being far enough away from each other and both not being from the MAC, I wouldn't be surprised to see them realign.

McComb vs. R21
Marion Local vs. R23?

Might happen.

I'm interested to see what Mogadore has this year. I think they can make it closer than their previous meetings with ML as ML's team this year isn't as good as last year's team and McComb is good, but same deal. Not exactly a program to overlook, despite their recent endeavors at state. How close they make it?...who knows.

I wish. Even if it is the predicted outcomes, it would sure be a lot more entertaining from a fan perspective with Newark Catholic and Mogadore playing the west end of the state.

Yep. Marion will be a monster next year. It would be a huge upset if anyone knocked them off.

Honestly, the decision to go for two may have been the worst but best decision by McComb. Yea, it put them down by 1. But, if they had been tied, DSJ's offense may have not been so conservative and drove down the field. Instead they ran and it forced them to a 3rd in long resulting in a pick. McComb's D played 4 quarters, DSJ's didn't. Didn't hear the MAC chants tonight?... :pickles:

As a Marion Local Flyers fan, I hope your predictions are right, but I think the boys just need to concentrate on one game at a time. I guarantee Coach Goodwin is not looking past McComb, they made it as far as they did because their kids have talent & heart, so lets play the game & see how it turns out.

McComb has only won their region one other time, in 1983 when they won state. Who knows, but I must say these "playoff beards" don't look the best for the McComb boys. Especially since some dyed their hair blonde and a couple with their beards dyed too.
