Maybe so, but what happens when one gets in foul trouble? They don't have someone that can come off the bench and be a proven scorer or role player. At least it hasn't been proven yet so I will wait a couple games to see if someone can prove me wrong.

That's the whole point. Very few teams have the luxury of having a proven scorer come off the bench in the first place. Having 4 returning, senior starters alone makes a team very experienced. Inexperience is DJ returning no starters, or LCC returning one varsity player. I'm just saying that Celina is still more experienced than almost every area team, even with their injury.

Bath plays at Celina tonight with Taylor Dackin still not cleared to play. If the Bath youngsters don't pick up the slack, Celina will go outright champs for the year.

If Celina wins, it will probably be becuase Celina will win it on the boards and have more 2nd chance shots. Youngsters don't rebound as well as experienced players. A youngster will watch the shot go up until the ball hits the rim and then try to box out someone. To late. An experienced player will box out as soon as the shot is off, not caring which direction the ball will come off of the rim, knowing that if everyone does this, the team will get the rebound.
Bath is a well coached team and the coach may have this problem already corrected. It should be a good game.

Ruhe will have no problem scoring and rebounding with Beth Homan still out. She's our only player starting over 6'.

Two of the most experiences coaches in the WBL going head to head as well. Will be an even matched game. Even with each team having a starter out.

So Bath proved me right in my pre game assessment. I did think Bath would control the glass 31 total boards (12 offensive) to Celina's 16 total boards). Ruhe had around 20+ pts and 10+ rebounds. FG percentage was pretty even at around 35% for both teams. Celina did however force 16 turnovers, Bath only forcing 11 which was really the only plus for Celina.

I think some Bath posters before this game have not given the credit to their team. Granted they have a starter out, but what I saw was the typical scrappy, hard nose defense Bath team coach Mauk puts on the floor every year. They made clutch shots and knocked down freebies when they had to and beat a veteran Celina team, granted they also had a starting senior out who would have helped Celina's inside game TREMENDOUSLY!

Kudos to Bath and I hope we get another shot at them come tourny time. Celina may not come away with a league title, but it's fine to have a chip on your shoulder going into the tournament.

I know Elida will not the league title, but so far the team looks good. I think Elida Girl's Basketball is on the way up like it was in the 90's.

Yep. They have improved a lot. They gave Bath a good game and they've not done that for a while

I think those youngsters make the Bath posters nervous before each game. LOL

Good job to the lady dogs. They are off to a great start however their schedule has been really weak the first few games. Time will tell when the schedule get's tougher. However they have inproved and look to be on the upswing.

They have matched or almost matched the win total from last year. So it was pretty up from where they started, but I think the will win 8-12 games this year. That is more than the last couple years combined.

Elida has a lot of players that can step up when needed on any given night. Torie McAdams ( Reggie McAdams's sister), Osha Owens, Sabrina Kline, and Cassidy Slusher are all capable of scoring double digits every night. They will probably finish 4th or 5th in the league.

I think it's safe to say Defiance and Kenton will battle it out for last place?

Kenton is decent as Whitaker can be a threat anywhere on the court. Defiance has no proven true scorer.

Well Bath has the early upper hand catching Celina a little short handed. Elida is the early surprise so far playing well, but the schedule has been kind to them out of the gate. Van Wert has struggled and looks to be on their way to a one or two win season in the league. Defiance will probably run away with last place, unless Kenton and St. Marys really go into the tank. Jury is still out on Shawnee and OG, although the Lady Titans beat Van Wert last week.

With the league title picture in full view and the tournament draws completed, now how about the post season awards? Who will be coach of the year, player of the year and all league?

Gotta like Mauk for coach of the year.
