Yep....they, or their parents may decide to play soccer.....or nothing at all.

I know of a school who had 14 eighth graders on a 6-1 Jr. high team and now those boys are seniors and there are 4 players left playing football.

I've seen this many times as well.

I hate to say it but it looks like our administrators have changed their minds and are not now in favor of expansion. Come on leadership, don't give the rest of the league a new meaning for "A-town"!

This makes so much sense it should be done already. To many possible bad things can happen if the league doesn't expand. Expand the league and challenge everyone to become more competitive across all levels. If the expansion doesn't happen I look for bad things to be right around the corner!

I disagree with that statement....what's wrong with only having an 8 team conference for football? You could schedule non-league the first 3 weeks and then have 7 weeks of league play. That is what the NWC will end up doing. Of course I am assuming that by bad things you mean HN and Vanlue dropping football.

I believe bvcrulz is referring to the potential concept of perhaps the rest of the BVC branching off and heading in a different direction if Arlington, Vanlue and Arcadia attempt to block the expansion. Thus a disintegration of the BVC as it is now known. But bvcrulz can speak for himself.

You are exactly right Davidson. LB won't stay without expansion....they can't with 7 divisions. If they would leave we are then left with 4 football programs that might not be able to field a team from week to week. Disaster waiting to happen!

As much as i was hoping for expansion it may be time to cut bait and move on. This nonsense of Vanlue, Arlington and Arcadia holding the other members hostage is ridiculous when two of these schools represent the bottom feeders of high school football. Let the LBs, Leipsic an other form their lown league, pick up who they want from the MAL and add Ada whom I sure would even be more enthused joining a league wothout the likes of Vanlue and Arcadia. Whats this look like for a new leagu of competition:

LB
McComb
Van buren
Leipsic
Hopewell
Cory
Ada
Pandora

Not a bad start there buckshot. And I would think that some schools that turned down the BVC's letter of interest letter might reconsider joining a 'new' league that didn't include Vanlue, H-N, Arcadia, etc. Maybe CG, Bluffton, Riverdale, others would hop on board without those smaller schools.

That would be a nice league....I hope Bluffton would jump on board if asked.

Ada should be the first choice followed by Hopewell-Louden, Carey, and Riverdale. Heck, Kenton, should look to join the BVC. The question becomes, what happens with Leipsic and Pandora? Will they stay or go to the NWC?

Send Holgate to the NWOAL and then send Crestview, Lincolnview and Paulding to the Green Meadows Conference. B)

What? I guess I am not understanding your context. Kenton? Leipsic and Pandora to the NWC? How....What....Why?

Here is how it will go down...

It'll start with LB, Leipsic, and McComb. VB will be included quickly because of size. There wont be letters sent out asking about interest, they'll have specific targets already in mind. Bluffton, Ada, and Grove (who now has a bvc guy as a football coach) will be the big 3. At the same time the bvc 4 will go to Arlington and say "here is what we're doing and here is what you are going to be stuck with. Despite howls of protest from Joe Metzger, A-town will have little choice but to accept. The nwc 3 will agree to jump but with a stipulation... Allen East gets to come along too.

So now we have

Leipsic
LB
McComb
VB
Arlington
Grove
Bluffton
Ada
AE

Nobody wants 9 so now a choice has to be made.. Pandora or C-R? The only thing that might tip the scales(no pun intended) is that CR has wrestling.

Arcadia, Vanlue, HN, and the loser of the PG/CR sweepstakes joins NB in the NWCC North Division. Unless NB joins the TACC.

Crestview, Spencerville, Paulding, Jefferson, Wayne Trace, and Holgate become the Green Meadows South division.

The N10 becomes the N12 adding H-L and another school to the south and east.

Calvert and Fremont St Joe go quasi-independant. They enter a scheduling agreement with LCC to form the the God's Country League.

I guess I could take another spin on this whole deal. . . . . . . . . One thing the BVC has always enjoyed in good SMALL school football. So WHAT IF??????? All the schools just tell LB to hit the road? I guess it's not the first time this has been said but just wanted to turn the tide. Everyone on here complaining about it is time to change and get bigger. For who??????? LB??? Van Buren??? The next closes school in size as far as boys is considered is McComb. After that every school in the BVC has under 100 boys in it. Again just turning the tide. I am not opposed to a little change but it is funny to hear about how "The BVC needs to get bigger"...........I myself think Hopewell and Ada are perfect fits for the BVC and would like to see it happen but I think people are trying to jump the gun. There are so many little details to talk about and work out that I don't think you could decide on something like this at the snap of a finger. If you do you run into problems down the road with things that become headaches. Remember the boyscout motto??? "BE PREPARED. . . . . . .If these questions don't get ironed out before hand it could get ugly just to jump the gun.

I think everyone is coming to some good conclusions that I would have to think the administrators and ADs are coming up with also; which means it very likely could happen. If everyone is tired of LB's size, (would be tired of VB also if they were winning) and want to protect small school league. Split them.

Small League - Retain BVC name
Arcadia, Vanlue, CR, Hardin Northern, Pandora, USV, St. Wendelin, Arlington Ridgemont - That would make everyone happy and NO MORE LB TOO BIG discussions!!!! Yay!!!!!

Big League - BSL (Big School League!)
LB, VB, McComb, Leipsic, Hopewell, Ada, Riverdale

Some may wonder why Leipsic and McComb are in the BSL, being a little smaller than rest...easy, they compete and even beat the LB every year in sports so the talk about being too big they just chuckle at other schools that cry about that. Once again, comes down to winning, not size.

But on a serious note....if us brainiacs are thinking these things, I would be the FARM so are the people making the decisions so with that being said everyone may get exactly what they want when dust falls. If some schools complain about the size of some schools...I mean the size of A school that also wins; hope they can live with final results.

Dirty76 is right.....it's time for LB to move on.....as I said earlier in this topic I believe it's going to happen within the next two years.

North Baltimore would be a great school to take LB place. :thumbup1:

You realize how bad Holgate would get smacked around in the NWOAL? The only way they fit in that league is geographically.

If anything send Holgate and Montpelier to the TAAC, that fixes the NWOAL's number problem AND gives the TAAC 2 more western schools to pair with Edon and Hilltop.

Holgate doesn't really fit the NWOAL geographically. But neither does PH. If you look at the league, all the other schools are right on or near Rte 2. PH is actually the odd ball from a location viewpoint. But thats ok by me.

If LB would leave the league would crumble.. purely because it is a team Arlington can't beat them consistently in anything and they have this self made rival with them so it pisses them off.. News to Arlington other schools in the league similar to your size hate losing to them just as much as anyone but the other schools like the competition and don't pout about it like a junior high girl.. Seriously what do you want Vanlue, Arcadia, VB, CR, PG to be your competition.. The BVC is by no means a power conference but they hold their own against most small conferenes (besides the MAC) I don't know what your going for here? Do you want the BVC to be like the NWCC so you can get into the playoffs and get drilled by 56 to DSJ? The league needs the good teams to stay and the ones that can't field teams to move on. Stop acting like LB is Cincinnati Moeller. LB is not only a great school athletically but also academically and has great facilities. I know I speak for nearly the entire town of Leipsic we do not want to lose LB at all. In fact we want the conference to stay the same with a few new quality schools but I'm sure if we for some reason had to choose I bet they would choose for Arlington to leave NOT LB.
