It sounds like a few teams are experiencing numbers problems this year, particularly Ottoville, and to a lesser extent Miller City.

FWIW Miller City went 4-3 and Ft. Jennings 2-5 this past weekend at the University of Findlay team camp.

Those camps are more of a building experience for the younger guys.. Starters tend to only play slightly over half of these games.. Summer ball don't mean a whole lot other than building experience

I am an OG fan, but I enjoy following the Putnam County League..........but will have to say this may as bad as the PCL has ever been. Heck it wasn't any good last year.

What do you mean "No good last year"? Kalida had the "Dream Team"

If one game in December is what you are solely basing your decision on...........overall the PCL was competitive last season with a lot of teams that were pretty even, and yes, I thought Grove was the best of the bunch. But in the end, no PCL team made it past the district level..........and I believe the PCL will be way down this season, but again be very even............with Leipsic, Grove and maybe Kalida being the top teams.

Miller City showed real well against what is supposed to be a pretty decent New Riegel team last Saturday...played 6 to 8 quarters and MC won by 20+. Maybe MC will be better than some think this year?

I'm hearing that the Big Green might not have enough players to even field a JV team any truth to that?

As of now they do not have a jv team according to sources!

Let me guess. Ottoville will have 2 boys CYO teams this year.

The last I heard, Ottoville will possibly play a 2 quarter JV game versus Cory-Rawson in the opener.

I know some of these schools are small, but how can you not have 15 kids in the top 4 grades out for basketball? Even if Ottoville had 30 kids in a class, you mean they don't have 4-5 kids in each class that play basketball? It's not like they have any other winter sports, heck, they can't even say they have football players who are "lifting" during the winter.

If they continue to not have a jv expect a lot of non-league schools to drop them from their schedule. It's not fair to the teams that have to play them to not have a jv game. I don't get why kids don't like turnwald. He is a great young coach in my eyes.

More than likely that is true. CYO in my opinion has taken over the smaller schools in particular, Ottoville. Kids just don't want to do the extra hard work and would rather just play for fun. I'm sure this will get looked into at Ottoville because if you have more kids playing CYO than actual high school basketball, then there is a problem. It's definitely not a coach's problem, seems to me more of a kid's problem.
