Here we go again, blame it on ST, just like Geo. Bush. Obviously, he has some skill if he still refs the playoffs every year. Maybe, some of you experts should get off your duff, if you can, and ref a few games. I am sooo tired of this same complaint every year. Only in NW Ohio, blame it on the refs. Amazing........

Must be a ref. If so, von do you ever make bad calls? Do you admit them to coaches? Do you demand respect in a game? Do you constantly replay the game over in your mind because you care that much or do you move on immediately to next life event? These questions if answered will tell me if I want the ref doing my game. If not a ref, never mind, but still good questions, right?

The refs in tonight's Arlington-CG game were very inconsistent. I felt there were a couple make up calls. All 3 had a couple plays that just made you say wow. Although I believe Grove's head coach agreed on the no good at the end of the half.

Some people just don't get it.....it isn't the beer....it's getting chatty with the coach.in a bar the night before, whose game you are officiating in the state finals.....if you think that is professional so be it.....I'm done with it.....sheeeesh!!!!

I fail to see it also. Chatting it up with a coach is unprofessional? I know many coaches who would consider some referees their friends.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this statement......the officials for tonight's game at LB had 30 years, 16 years, and 9 years experience....

Now please tell me that there are more experienced officials than the last one named....he clearly was out of his league tonight and all three couldn't get on the same page.....

When time is running out in a quarter...who's responsible for the clock? These three obviously didn't know that answer....taking a good bucket away at the buzzer in a tie ballgame.

Overall this group was very inconsistent and it was dissapointing to have them at tonight's game. Dr. Denny could have done better with this assignment.

Nothing sounds wrong with that statement at all. Honestly. You sound butt hurt though, so please tell more. Who were the three?

A hint of sarcasm maybe... oh well.

As for the clock management ... Outside trail official has the "good" bucket call ... I think. They will consult with the table if unsure...

Need to ask a "professional" official for the actual ruling... or Flounder... sorry I couldn't resist! Lol

Outside official opposite the table. There is zero consultation with the table.

You are missing the point. ST made an A** out of himself on the court, was overheard on the radio for crying out loud saying the F bomb. There have to be ramifications for this. WHomever "manages" refs in OH should be aware of this (I am sure he is by the way), and take action. If not, this will give credence to the "good ole boy" theory among officiating big games in terms of who gets the games and who does not.

As for his ability - I agree he has done it long enough that he should be solid, BUT they guy reeks arrogance and every single official that works with him knows it as do coaches and fans. I think he believes that he is bigger than the game and that is a scary thing as an official working big games every year.

Final point - officiating is tough, real tough. You are never going to be perfect, and your calls are scrutinized by 100's or even 1,000's of fans. I respect officials that clearly are doing their best, are not overly arrogant and will admit to coaches when they are wrong. Simple as that.

Lets put all level 1 refs in a hat and draw out tournament assignments. No one could complain about how the process works. :sarcasm:
We are dealing with humans-----besides me :coffee: they are not perfect. I've had many people tell me I'm a perfect __________. There will always be good reffed and bad reffed games. Its humans watching humans moving very fast guided by a rule book and supplemental books that are lengthy to say the least. The inperfect human must have all this rule knowledge, make split second decisions, listen to SOME clueless coaches and listen to SOME very clueless fans complain about a call where their player nearly mugged the opponent. THIS IS WHAT MAKES SPORTS FUN. The US government knows we need such outlets to keep the masses from rebelling against the Big Brother Party headquartered in Washington. Enjoy the game comrade. :bag:

NO Intitials, afraid the message board police may be watching.

Yes I did, retired from BB after 33 years, 2 years ago. But, refs do not miss layups or free throws or throw the ball away. I have replayed a few games over in my mind a few years ago, but that goes with the job. It is tough being an official in certain areas, especially back in NW Ohio. Out here wasn't that bad. I never wanted to do a game if they did not want me, and I would not do certain schools due to conflicts with the coach. Somebody sees some good in ST, or he would not be still refereeing. I have never seen the guy ref, and never will. Just my opinion as a former HS and small college ref. I knew it was time to quit and I did, maybe I did it one year too long. Thank You....

Von, Sounds like I would of been ok with you doing my games and even missing a call or two. You seem to have the mentality that is pure and in the best interest of the kids playing and the game. Enjoyed your response.

Actually, Steve Trout is really a nice guy.....just doesn't always call a good game......but hey, he is human just like us, so I think we should let it go and let him continue as he has been doing......I am sure we will hear from more people concerning Mr. Trout in the future........just not worth the difference of opinion to me.....let's just all get along!!!!!!

FYI...the official responsible for the call on the shot at the end of the quarter was THE MOST EXPERIENCED of the group. It was the LEAST EXPERIENCED that called the others in to discuss--and make the right decision

The shot at the end of the half was not even close. The refs got that one correct and did the right thing in huddling to make sure they agreed.

The ball was on the rim when the buzzer went off.

Toledo 11 news talked about this shot and said on air they replayed it and the officials made the correct call. So I guess your eyes just aren't as good as they used to be.

He wears a collar, hikes his leg to pee, and eats out of a bowl. Hates felines. No credibility. Why should we expect him to get the call right. :bag:
