Arlington vs. Holgate
Riverdale vs. Leipsic

I called the Riverdale upset wins over both NB and McComb. I like the effort these Lady Falcons give on the defensive end of the floor...this alone keeps them in games. I will take the Lady Falcons (again) to beat Leipsic in a close game. Defense travels.

As for Arlington / Holgate - this could be an incredible game. The two best teams in this district by far are playing each other with the winner the heavy favorite to head to Regionals. I will take the senior laden Red Devils (surprise!) in another close one based on defensive pressure and what I understand to be a young Holgate team.

Postplayer-
The Falcons do have a great amount of hustle. Had we made our bunnies and protected the ball on offense, it would have been a bigger margin of victory. It would do our girls a lot of good to keep relying on their defensive pressure, and then while on offense PROTECT the ball (good passes and patience). Our shot selection was pretty decent tonight...Frey was really on with her shots and Kessler struggled to hit the many opportunities she had under the basket. To her credit though, Kessler was a terror on defense. I'd take a team full of defensive specialists any day though. The fewer points you hold the other team to, the fewer you need to beat them.

I said earlier this season that I wasn't going to predict any sectional or district championships from the Lady Falcons, but I'll take what we've accomplished so far. Good job Ladies! Things will get tougher with Leipsic...who, by the way, BEAT Holgate earlier this season 42-38. So, I'm starting to wonder if Holgate is by far one of the best teams in this district. Arlington should not have much trouble with Holgate, unless they play like they did early on against C-R. The L-B District is Arlington's to lose.

Holgate lost three of their four games very early in the season( 1-3 start I think) and have only lost one since. The young girls are now playing with experience. Should be compettive.

Lost at At Stryker, Miller City, and Leipsic in first four games and only loss since is by 8 To undefeated Archbold late in the season. 4 of the first seven players are 3 freshman and a sophomore so they needed some experience to get going.

I have heard great things about Holgate. I am hoping that Arlington's experience in big games will help them greatly in this matchup considering the young team Holgate has. Talent is a great equalizer, however, so we will see.

Should be a very competitive game and I know Holgate will travel well.

Not sure I'd call them upsets? I think NB, Riverdale and McComb were about even, Riverdale just played better to get out and got a little good fortune (banked in two 3's the 2nd half, and Frey was red hot the 2nd half. I think they also caught a break with Leipsic taking down MC. Should be a good district. Riverdale's seniors stepped it up. Congrats. Holgate Arlington should be great.

I also like Riverdale and their experience over Leipsic. How about the 1 and 2 seed losing by the way (North Baltimore & McComb)? I am pretty sure that doesn't happen very often.

I have heard so many positive things about Holgate but have not seen them play. Give it up bballcat...what's their MO?

Arlington was the #1 seed, McComb #2, N. Baltimore not seeded.

Not sure what Holgate has but I would consider it a pretty big upset if Arlington does not get out of this district. Am I the only one who thinks this?

No, no upsets at this point. Holgate is very good, got size, good guard play and depth.

Fast, pressure at all times from all angles.
Everyone on the team can shoot from anywhere on the floor and will not hesitate to put up the shot.
Plays under control at all times that I have seen them.
Will use their bench some but not as much as in the past and are well conditioned.
They will be a very tough out for any team in DIV

Will this be a split session on Thursday?

If not, will there be seats if I get there after the Riverdale/Leipsic games starts?

Nope. You are right. Arlington being ranked #2 in the state, only 1 loss on the season. In my opinion 2nd best team in that district Miller City goes down to Leipsic who I think is 3rd best team and then you got Holgate 4th best team facing Arlington.

That's fine I believe Holgate has a good team too. But they lost to Miller City and Leipsic in the season that is why I say they are the 4th best team in that district. With that said, if Holgate beats Arlington how would that not be an upset? The #2 team in the state would be gone. Sounds like an upset to me.

YOu are going by state rankings, we know those are flawed. These are stricty done by record and who knows the coach. Holgate lost their games in early December, and their fourth loss was to undefated Archbold (which they led in the 4th quarter). Arlington, on the other hand, has won in recent weeks, but has struggled against some not so great teams. Maybe bordom, maybe others figuring them out? Should be a great game going right to the end.
