If Miller City can't beat McComb or Pandora (and they didn't), they won't beat Arlington.

I think Arcadia will beat New Riegle by 10+ so you do the math.

Don't say that. Never compare two teams based on similar opponents. All it takes is Arlington to have an off game and Miller City to get hot. Thats exactly what happened when they played Ottoville this year. Only lost by 3-5 points. Miller City was hitting on all cylinders and Ottoville had probably their worst game all season. So anything can happen believe that.

Of course anything can happen. And Miller City is good, everyone knows that.

But, comparing teams against common opponents is not exactly an uncommon thing in the sports world.

Just saw the score...
Arlington 67
New Riegel 38

...all I can say is, WOW...I stand corrected. I really thought NR might have given Arlington some competition...I guess I was wrong. Good job Lady Red Devils!

The highly anticipated week of basketball has concluded with games against two undefeated, highly ranked teams in Arcadia and New Riegel. Tonights game against NR was a bit of a blowout - I think the final was 29 pt spread. NR just didn't have the weapons and showed their youth a bit tonight I thought. My overall opinion is that we played well, got two wins and now we move on. We also realized that Arcadia and NR aren't the #2 and #4 teams as posted in the AP Poll - and we certainly know Arlington is much better than their #10 rating. Where any of these teams belongs - who knows and who really cares.

As for Arlington, I think this team has the "it" factor. No, it is not as talented offensively as last year but this team is no question a better defensive team. I bet you the point guard for NR (#14 I think) is darn glad this one if over...Joy Reamsnyder was in her pocket all night and by mid quarter - the NR point guard was spent after trying to create all night with Joy on her. Add in the veteran leadership and skills of the Recker crew and you got a pretty good basketball team. How good we do not know, but I sure like the way this team competes.

Congrats to Amelia Recker as she became the all time leading scorer tonight in Arlington girls basketball history. Amelia went for 29 points tonight; I think she had 26 points thru 3. IMO - she is the POY in the BVC.

Let me refresh your memory.....12/2/2011 LB 44 ARL 39. Craft 26 Recker 9.....yes Craft guarded Recker the whole game and held her to less than half her season average. LB played poorly in this game but Craft carried them to the victory.

That's all I've got for now other than Congrat Amelia for your record. Where is she playing in college?

Your entitled to your comments LooseCannon, as am I. However, since you want to go down that path...Amelia Recker was called for not one, but two fouls that she didn't commit. I have never seen anything like that before...both were fouls but when the ref went to the scorers table, he provided the wrong number TWICE. Who knows what happens if those two fouls are not given to her in error...she sat most of the 2nd quarter as well as large part of 4th. I will stick to my guns on this one...Amelia Recker is the best overall basketball player in the BVC. That is my opinion and quite frankly, her statistics warrant that statement but I also fully expect Catie Craft to get the honor for many factors...she is a very good player in her own right. I just think Amelia has a better overall game IMO. We agree to disagree - move on.

As for her college choice, I do not know. I think both Alivia and her will play somewhere though.

Uncommon? Indeed. But if your smart you won't compare teams with common opponents.

All I can say is I told you so lol Arcadia and New Riegel both overrated teams. Should drop out of AP Poll in my opinion. Their only chance to get any credit was to beat or at least keept it close with Arlington and they didn't. Arlington shouldn't lose a game the rest of the way and will cruise into the regional semis until hitting a brick wall and will find some tough competition there you can count on that.

I'm with Mystery, I don't want to tell you so but it is what we said!! The MAL has been down the last couple years in overall talent but do have a few nice players. NR would be around third or fourth in the BVC this year.

Congrats to Miss Recker! Job well done young lady.

Post-eee, I'm not going down that path on POY of the BVC but tell me the truth and please don't be bias like Falcon :). Who do you really think deserves to be POY of the BVC? Put up a poll and see how the public feels?

Grace - I think we can all agree that it's okay to have your own opinions on this topic. This is not a slam on Craft either...she is a great player. Regardless of who wins it, you could make a case for either one. I just happen to see Recker play more, and of course I am biased to some degree. Let's end the POY discussion as my post was more around how well Atown is playing and how Amelia's game has got significantly better since week 3.

My overall assessment: highly anticipated describes this last week for Arlington and I'll even throw in overstated as well. If you look on paper, this past week had two really great matchups. But the wise people knew that these great matchups were going to be lopsided. The way I see it Arlington did play well enough to win. In my mind Arcadia and New Riegel are not top 10 contenders in the state. Arlington however I believe they are top 5 contender at best #5. But I'm not at all wowed by the scores of these last two games.

I know my daughter and the rest of the team are looking forward to the game and the huge challange of Arlington on Tuesday. And like I said on the other thread win or lose big or small they will not be intimidated.

Donny - thoughts from last nights game? I think NR will be a very good team over the next couple of years IMO. Good young basketball team. Good luck the rest of the way - Arcadia will be a tough matchup as they are also good and young - should be a very close game.
