NDLOVER - Precisely my point...

Why penalize either of these girls considering both are 4 yr letterman, 1,000 pt scorers and both are top players not only in our conference but most likely both will be 1st team All State. I say send them both out with appropriate props - they both deserve it.

In no way am I taking away from Craft - just saying this is the year it makes 100% sense to split the honor and quite frankly, they would both most likely be fine with that.

You are right mommapost, let Recker by POY. Your constant begging, pleading, whining, crying makes it obvious that you have a personal interest in the matter. I don't see anyone on here campaining for Craft in any way as much as you do for Arlington girls or boys. I would bet that it wouldn't even matter that much to Caite if she is POY or not ( I don't know her, just a hunch). If it is soooooo important to Amelia (or her family) to get this honor, let her have it. Perhaps it would get her a college ride somewhere. Four kids starting college next year would be scarey. Craft has her ride already set up, so good luck to Amelia Recker.

This post reeks of jealousy. Sorry you make this personal - my only vested interest is making the case which is what this board is for - to offer opinions. Sorry Vikes - I am sure Amelia hung 20+ on your team this year; could that be your motive to attack my thoughts?

Best of luck to you and your team but your post really sucked. Do you really think anyone of importance reads this stuff and then makes decisions based on comments made on RC? I would hope not....

Cheers - maybe we will see you in the tourney again this year.

One thing I didn't mention is Craft can defend anyone. Have seen her shutdown very good postplayers and point guards. Will be fun to see what happens against Palmer Thursday. Historically POY goes to best player on championship team (think Post may have said something close to this last year when this debate was going on). If LB wins the title it goes to Craft. Not a good thing to mess with history. If there is a 3 way tie have to consider Palmer along with Craft and Recker.

I think you could make a claim for either one to get POY, or they could share. I'd say both are as critical to their teams success as the other. I still say it would have been nice for the two teams to play each other in February rather than December, but that's the way the schedules shook out.

Actually I am not jealous, I have seen the big 3 in the BVC and was quite impressed with Arlington, I think that game might have been the biggest loss of the three powers. If the game with LB was played today then maybe the results would be different. If Amelia and Caite were both to sit out the rematch I think Arlington would win the game. I'm saying that Craft makes her team all the more better. I'm sorry Amelia pickedm up some cheap fouls in the earlier game with LB. Things may have ended up differently if she had played 32 minutes. My guess is the time Amelia was on the bench is when Craft led her team to increase their lead.
I am in no way an LB fan, it is disheartening to go into their gym and see all the BVC championship banners on the wall. I have relation going to Arlington and follow the Red Devils. I would actually rather see you guys have success over them. Am I jealous of LB? Yes, their success and opportunities and resources are tremendous. We at Leipsic have a gravel walkway to practice track on.
Am I jealous of Amelia's and Arlingtons success? No, Its just that your constant promotion of her reminds me of an overbearing parent from the TV show about little princesses and their padgents. (which I've never actually seen).
Like I said earlier, if it helps Amelia to further her carreer, then by all means I hope she gets POY. I just feel that what Craft does makes LB a better team. And as you said, no one of any importance reads this stuff anyway! It's just some people with to much time on their hands expressing their views.
P.S. How about I buy you a coke Friday night, we can shake hands. Or I can leave it at the 50/50 table.

Now I LOVE this post Vikes! I forgot our boys plays Leipsic Friday night - like that isn't a HUGE game or anything for both teams. We should hook up before the game...I may even buy you a coke to make amends. You should send me a private message if you are going to be in town early...Jac N Do's has great cold Cokes...of course.

Thanks for the positive reply Vikes - look forward to a good game Friday night. I hear great things about your Vikes...

Agreed Vikes - I put a thread out there on the boys game against Vanlue & it did not have a single reply to it. Not sure what's up with that so I figured I would leave it alone this week as well. I do expect the boys game to be a very good game, depending upon which Arlington team shows up. I think it should be a great crowd to say the least.

HAHAHA classic Arlington! Here's what you do with that POY award-1st Who won the head to-head match-up? Take it L-B did.2nd How important are each of them to their teams success-basically if you take them off their respective teams what would you have then? Finally do the statistically comparison, and then see who's left standing. I'm sure most of you can answer those three questions and then make your choice from there. Then after that is done go throw the award in the trashcan and get ready for tourney time.

Everyone has their own opinion of what POY/MVP means. I truly think you have to look at stats first. Now some may not think so. It doesn't matter what the team is like if she is taken away, I just feel one player is consistantly putting up good numbers that is what you have to look at. Now if two individuals are having the same kind of success then you can either look at their teams success for tie-breaker or they do have Co-POY awards. Either way POY does mean something and can be one of them moments that you look back on as a player so I can understand the drama. But I agree though, you don't necessarily through the award in the trash lol but you do forget about it and get ready for tournament time. Sometimes that POY award though, can haunt you though in tournament I have seen it before.

Leave it to cropduster........but guess what...his post makes the most sense...all except the last sentence which I am sure he added as a bit of humor......but, he has hit it right on.....I really don't care who wins it....I do think that 'postie' has a vested interest, but so be it....in a perfect world I guess it would be nice if it is shared, but we all know nothing is perfect......with the injuries that LB has suffered this season, I don't think they would be where they are without Craft....then, instead of giving the award to Amelia....why not give it to her sisters to share with her......also, with Craft going to OSU, I think this award means something to her, but she has bigger things on her mind.......it will be interesting to see how it is voted on....good luck to all!!!!

Cropduster certainly does not like Arlington in any sport, but with the way things are in Dola these days, I doubt we will hear much from him regarding high school athletics, unless he can contribute some info as to whether or not they will even field a football, baseball or track team in next couple of years. "Typical Arlington" - what does that mean anyway?

Flounder - I give up on the POY stuff - simply making a point that if you look at stats Amelia wins in two most important categories (scoring, rebounding). The other two (steals, assists) Craft wins. Close call either way - just thought this year it might be shared is all. Head-to-head, LB won this year. My only connection is that I follow the program closely and have watched 98% of the girls/boys games over past four years the Reckers have played. Good family, good kids - hate to see someone that has had that degree of success not get honored is all. Craft is deserving as well. Enough said.

As for the true meaning of POY - it is simply an honor that will mean more 5 years from now to the recipient than any team honor today. I agree on all accounts - go prepare for tourney and if the cards fall right and you make state, that is what ALL members of this team will remember the most.

Good luck to all - let the fun begin!

I have to agree. Numbers do not lie.

You can't base it on a team being better. It is not a team award.

You can't base it on who has a better scholarship. Scholarships have to much to do with politics and promotions.

I think Craft should have gone to a different school. IMO She will only be in Big Brothers shadow and will make for a good conversation piece before each Buckeye game.

She will do fine at OSU. There were doubters about big brother going to OSU and how has that turned out?

Sorry, I should have said that differently now that I see it again. What I mean is; IMO she should of went to a different school becuase her Big Bro is doing so well and will always do better because he is older and will always have more expierence on her. I think they will compare the two as often as they can becuase it will be a good conservation piece.

I hope she does well and I will be rooting for them as loud as I can. I'm a huge Buckeye fan.

I hate to be the English teacher on here, but I see this far too often on here...

would of
could of
should of

It's HAVE, not OF...like could've, for example.

If you're going to spell it out as 2 words, try to get it right (instead of spelling it the way it sounds when we say it lazily).

You can now return to your regularly scheduled bantering.

Falcon - I am giving your Falcons a fighting chance in the sectional...

I think your girls are playing better and better, and certainly can matchup with both NB and McComb, although both would be tough games. I may go with tradition over talent in these two games...good luck!
