This was supposed to be the year......word I'm getting is they are wore out already and injuries are mounting.
Is the PCL and district's Grove's to lose?

Vic,
after reading today's paper and seeing the Double T given to the coach's grandson, I am starting to wonder the same thing.......hearing from the Ktown folks a few years ago when all
the controversy erupted, this was supposed to be THE year........I am anxious to hear from some of our more eloquent Ktown posters as to their thoughts on how this is shaking out........zoooom

Come on, so they lost a game and if Grove does win the PCL, Kalida will be ready by tournament time. They still have 13 games left, so they go 16-4, 15-5, Kalida will be ready.

What was the deal on 2 T's on player. Two different episodes, or really lost it?

Oh man good thing Kalida's losses have been non league games then and they wouldn't play Grove till regionals.

They aren't gonna win that league now and I forgot about their tourney assignment. Only roadblocks to regionals look like Antwerp/Edgerton.

On the topic of area basketball lacking solid fundamentals...Korto would possibly be the last person I would call out. I'm not sure there has been an area program with more fundamentally sound players than Kalida for the past half century. As for knowing how to get to Columbus...I again opine that Korto might know a thing or two about that.

I cannot imagine the problems some have with the King have anything to do with his ability to teach fundamental basketball. I personally use peoples disdain for Korto as a good example of how much our society has changed. If every program was coached by Dick Kortokrax, the quality of basketball would be much better than this thread supposes.

I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

One thing I know coach Cortocraxx is noted for is his consumption of No Doz. If I was his age, I would contact No Doz and do a commercial for them. Nothing against this Cortocraxx character, but I think that his age has made him extinct in most basketball circles. If I am a player in today's times, I want a hip coach that I can communicate with. Not some old timer that can read me a bed time story. By hip coach, I mean a Mcglocklin, Kill, steckschulte, or even a Tunrwalde.

This is the DREAM TEAM they are not playing very inspired basketball so far. Is it coaching? Or am I out of bounds for even asking the question?

Jonny, Don't start bagging on KORTOKRAX, learn the spelling. So CG wins the county, they have only won 6 in their history. They will meet Kalida in the late district or regional, providing they both get there. Grove won the PCL in 44,52,53,84,95, 11. Dick KORTOKRAX won4 at Ottoville and 18 at Kalida. Let us just wait and see and quit being critical of the king. Oh, he does NOT doze off that is your fantasy. It amazes me how some people from Putnam County bad on Dick. Have you ever met him in person?

This is why I get a kick out of this site. A loser, that has likely not even seen half as many games as Coach Kortokrax has won, can come on here and blast him for his basketball coaching ability, and then also throw in a cheap shot about him dozing off. You really need to get a clue. By the way, the coaches you referenced as "hip" would be happy with the winning percentage Coach Kortokrax has, and they have, collectively, done absolutely nothing in the tournament.

Loser? I have seen polly more games than Cortocraxx has coached. And I did not blast him. I gave my feelings which I feel is the truth. And I do have a clue. My clue is that what has he done lately with all that talent. Time to give it up and enjoy the sweet life. He has done alot over the years, but knew yung blood could do wonders for Kalida. Heck, my team is not Kalida, so I hope he stays. I would love to play them the first game of tournament. Believ me when I say that something is missing.

Soooooo jonny, you've seen over 1000 games? If so you should be of age and maturity to know how to spell. Most on RocketCorner are NOT idiots. If you're older than 15, we would be surprised. Those of us who got our arses disciplined a time or two in school can appreciate what and how he is. I've talked to Dick, treated him to a bag or two of popcorn on Fridays when he came to Leipsic to scout. We are envious of his accomplishments. A lot of people dislike Kalida (myself included) because of their success. As a group they are hated, as individuals, they are ok people. Its the successful program we hate!
Jonny, it is so easy to hide in the back and throw bombs. An anonymous name makes for brave comments. Wait a few years and try it after you have a few cans of liquid courage, you'll really be ready to slam people.
I imagine jonny that you're a punk kid who will be gone from here soon because your HS schedue gets changed, seen it before, and it will continue in the future, Either grow up, clean up, or else just put your real name here so we could discuss during recess.
If you ARE a grown up adult (doubtful), you are an idiot.

2008: 17-6; District Finals
2009: 23-5; State Runner-up
2010: 21-3; Regional Runner-up
2011: 17-5; Sectional Finals

Total Record Last 4 years: 78-19 with tourney exits to Wayne Trace (state semi-finalist), Oak Hill (State Champion), Ottawa Hills (State semi-finalist), and Continental (State semi-finalist)

He sure doesn't know how to use that talent :sarcasm:

What a cakewalk to Regionals......over the years, it seems that Kalida has few teams to challenge them until regional......heck, I think I would stick around and keep coaching also......just looked at Alter's schedule.....it is absolutely brutal, and yet Petrocelli still finds a way to win with homegrown talent...they are 500 so far, but have played a couple teams from out of state plus a couple heavyweights from Dayton......it appears they are not afraid to play anyone!!!!!

From Alter's own website...
  • The following public school districts provide bus transportation to Alter: Bellbrook-Sugarcreek, Centerville, Jefferson Township, Kettering, Miamisburg and West Carrollton. Please contact your district's Transportation Department with specific questions. Students who reside in the Dayton Public school district are eligible for RTA passes at a reduced rate.
I'm not certain comparing Alter and Kalida is apples to apples. My hunch is that if Kalida had public bus service from 8 surrounding communities along with reduced rate RTA passes from Fort Wayne, they would probably play a tougher schedule too. I'm pretty sure Korto could succeed with that set-up too.

Anyhow, I'm guessing the definition of "homegrown" you are using is not the same definition others use.
