I agree in this day and age cudos to Doug Davis for hanging in there, couldn't be more happier for a nicer and more humbling guy you will meet. In today's world he's the exception not the rule for coaches.

Thank goodness we operate under a thin veil of anonymity, Kaizen. There are soccer moms balling their fists up as they read this.

Whew, here I thought Defiance was the only school that did that.
Seriously we built a new K-5 elementary school(which I voted no for under the premise that 1 elementary school for a district our size isn't NEARLY enough, but whatever) in like 2008. By 2010 they were asking for MORE money for a new high school and improvements to the elementary school because *gasp* they didn't have enough classrooms for all of the kids! Hmm. Seems about like the exact reason we didn't need to build the frickin school in the first place.
Luckily that one got shot down though. Good luck to Bath schools in doing whatever is best for the community down there.

Your are partially right. Defiance did ask the voters for a new Jr. High and High School and it was defeated. Part of that proposal also included additional elementary classrooms because the state underestimated future enrollment when the new elementary was built, despite being told by the school administration their projections were wrong. The administrations projections were proven to be right after the new school was built. Defiance has not had a request for additional operating money since 1996. They have actually cut over $4,000,000 in annual expenses with the consolidation of the elementary schools and a drastic reduction in the number of teachers and administrators. The current superintendent has been a real watchdog for the taxpayers. Nobody likes paying taxes and it is always easy to find a reason to vote no on any tax issue. I encourage people to study the issues and know what they are voting on. Don't believe all the breakroom talk, naysayers, and people supporting the issues. Get the actual facts and make decisions on the truth.

Unfortunately, Bath school officials are using exaggerated and misleading information to influence voters on the upcoming construction bond issue for the elementary school.
After the bond issue failed last year, an engineering study was done to determine the structural integrity of the building. Contrary to earlier claims that the building was structurally unsound and unsafe, the report stated the building was structurally sound and only the cracked floors in the north wing needed removal.
Rather than lower the renovation estimate to account for the positive structural report, the architect added about $1.5 million for the floor removal, which was already in the estimate. With this inflated estimate, the board moved ahead with plans for a new building.
A recent continuing education publication used for architectural recertification states, “There are signs that any bias in favor of new construction might be shifting towards preserving and modernizing existing schools. Cost is one straightforward reason, especially with referendums facing a decidedly debt-weary electorate. When the Pennsylvania Department of Education analyzed the 33 new school construction projects and 94 renovation/addition projects approved between October 2003 and December 2006, it found that the average cost per square foot of the new schools was nearly twice the cost of the renovations and additions.
Before we break out the wrecking ball, we need reliable plans and estimates from independent contractors.
Vote no.

Bath had them out-matched and took it to them. It was the quietest I've ever heard the Vatican. Bath had a double digit lead at half and led as much as 18 and it never really got closer than 12. It was good to see the Wildcats win again after 2 losses.
