I disagree with you Dr. Pirate. I can't say that I have ever seen Ben Miller play a whole lot, so in no way am I trying to bash on him, but I do not think that the PCL POY should be "the player most valuable to his team", that would be TEAM Player of the Year. As for Putnam County League Player of the Year, it is the player most valuable to his LEAGUE. And it should be a toss up right now, we're only two weeks into the season, there really can't be too many candidates.

I just can't see how a player can be most valuable to a LEAGUE when he actually plays for a team. But agree to disagree that is what makes this so fun.

game1044... you make it sound like the poy should allways be a player on the team that wins pcl... why???
poy should go to the best player in pcl. that is not allways a player on the team that wins pcl... in this case I definatly think ben miller has a shot at pcl player of the year, the kid is amazing, ok continental might not win pcl, but that doesn't make ben miller a worse player, give him a break he has not much of a defense to work with.. at least not unless they step it up the rest of the season... I think it is wrong that if ben miller would have been on the team that wins pcl... most likely everyone on here would have agreed that he deserves it....
stats don't tell you who the best player is!!!
in fact every few times there is one player in pcl that is better then the rest... most years there are a handfull of players that are about the same... but usually the player on whatever team won pcl gets it!! bs
and we all know that this year there is more than just 5 players that deserve the award... whoever gets it this year congrats... but you are NOT the BEST player in pcl!!!!!!!!!!!

POY also isn't about scoring goals last year Matt Burgei won the award and he mainly played Defense.

That is not at all what I am trying to say, putnamfanman. You said it exactly..."poy should go to the best player in pcl. that is not allways a player on the team that wins pcl..." It needs to go to the person who is the best player in the League, and that person isn't always a member of the team who wins the PCL title, nor the person with the best statistics. I am not sure where I came across sounding like it, but that is certainly not what I meant!

well i have to add
u may not have many candidates YET
but u can surely take out some...
one being "hoochie" from fort jennings

sorry to say it
but you do NOT miss a pk when the game is tied ... or in ANY case at that if your going to be POY
if goalie makes a miraculus save... then ok ... but u gotta get it on goal atleas makes u look a little better too... scot chandler really stepped it up when the rest of the team got shook up

I watched the van wert games and jennings all tog. played horribly... but int he end started comign back tog.

I didn't get to watch any other games this weekend tho cuz i had to work... sorry other teams...
but my opionion POY does NOT blow a pk 25 feet away fromt he goal... back tot he basics instead of showing off trying to curve it to the upper 90 of the goal...

have you ever taking a pk in a game when the game is tied and have you ever felt that pressure??
prolly not huh... well let me tell you add that pressure and its a little harder than you make it sound.. yes its easy to make them at practice... when I used to play I could make 99 out of a 100 at practice but during a game its a different story... I didn't miss them all but I missed some.... its pretty obvious you never took to many pk's yourself.... now lets put it this way.. how manny professionals missed pk's at the world cup this summer??? them guys are profesionals even they miss them... how manny nba players miss foul shots, its the same thing them guys make millions play every day and even they miss pk's and foul shots... and your saying this kid doesn't have a shot at pcl poy cuz he missed one pk... give him a break!!!

did I say that was the only reason? no
is that a MAIN reason.. YES
does he dribble way to much looking for a goal for himself yes
are there quite a few players on fort jennings team only looking out for themselves
yes
amazing team... being torn apart by greed... and it's obvious
If the ball woudl've been on goal ok... did u see the shot?
i saw it... and he kicked it with the outside of his right foot trying to bend it up in the corner...
shoot a shot with pace and low... would've sounded good to me...

that's what the second player did when he took the other pk
and it went it... thanks

yea a penalty kick should always be automatic. and i also think that a PCL POY should be able to make a simple pk. but i do not believe that if he cannot make a pk it souldnt mean he shouldnt b the PCL POY.

Also, guys hear about any of the miller city midfielders? pri 1 of the most strongest midfields in NW Ohio. Erford, Hermiller, Verhoff? why hasnt any 1 said anything about them?

ONCE AGAIN easy to say for the guy on the side line... they allways know it better... but once again many pk's were missed at THE WORLD CUP this summer by professionals.
so please give the kid in pcl that missed one pk a break!!!

Putnam makes a strong point. I mean anyone who has ever watched soccer on tv has seen at least one PK missed and thats on tv. so if he misses one in division three soccer its no suprise. You need to cut him some slack and get off the missed PK and maybe try and tear him apart some other way. Cause the PK thing isnt getting it done

finally hoochie let go of the PK!!!!
now lets get back to the pcl poy!!!!
what are your thoughts??!!

My vote still goes to ben miller, some think he is a dissapointment this year, but i have to disagree... his defense is a dissapointment, not Ben Miller!!!!! great goallie!!! he will have my vote untill some one else impresses me more than he has in the past years and this year as well!!!

before some of you people get mad and offended,
I'm not saying he is gonna, will, or should get pcl poy, but wheter he gets it or not he is the poy in my eyes so far this season, this is based on this season and how he's been in the past... so don't get mad (like some of you tend to do every once in a while when someone does not have the same opinion as you) because you think someone else deserves poy.

I agree with you putnamfan. Ben Miller has unlimited potential as a goalie, and it is his defense that is disappointing. As I said before, imagine how many shutouts he would have if he had more than a mediocre at best defense in front of him. The loss to Pandora tonight hurts his chances but again, if the offense gets around 15 good looks and scores only once, that is a 93% save percentage! There is only one word for that-Amazing!

POY is still up in the air for me, but my top 3 picks are (in no order) Troy Kloeppel, Aaron Von Derembes, and Scott Chandler.

Sorry but in my opinion Ben Miller is out, getting scored on but PG was the last straw! Sorry
