KALIDA – Gary W. Ellerbrock, 53, of Kalida, died 1: 46 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf. He was born November 24, 1957 in Lima to the late Raymond and Alice (Ricker) Ellerbrock. On October 26, 1991, he married Lynn Pohlman who survives in Kalida.

Other survivors are two sisters: Sharon (Norbert) Burgei of Kalida, Joyce (George) Kleman of Delphos; two brothers: Dan (Carol) Ellerbrock and Kenny (Nancy) Ellerbrock all of Kalida; father-in-law, Michael (Louise) Pohlman of Ottoville; a sister-in-law, Jill (Bill) Stoner of Ada; a brother-in-law, Matt (Krista) Pohlman of Powell; and nieces and nephews: Janice Goergens, Jeff Ellerbrock, Dana Stortenbecker, Kim Hewit, Kurt Kleman, Ross Ellerbrock, Jordan Ellerbrock, Erica Stoner, Madison Stoner, Avery Pohlman and Reese Pohlman. Preceding him in death is his mother-in-law, Marjorie Pohlman.

Gary worked at Unverferth Manufacturing in Kalida for 35 years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kalida. He was a big Detroit Tigers and Ohio State Buckeye Fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved watching his nieces and nephews grow up and being a part of their lives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida, with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may be given to Kalida EMS. Condolences may be sent to: www.lovefuneralhome.com.

So very sad to hear this news. I had nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for Bandido and I will miss him sorely. My sincere condolences to his wife and loved ones and to all who knew him well.

I have not been on here in a while. I'm shocked to say the least. I only new him as "Bandido the Kalida Guy." I always enjoyed his passion, even the couple times we disagreed. He will be missed around here.

for those that may not visit the pick 'em thread, i've taken this excerpt from there to share with you the memorial sent to the Ellerbrock family w/condolences from the RC....

I must take a moment to remember our dear friend bandido, for whom this contest is now named in rememberance of..... If I recall correctly, he won this one year.....and if he didn't win the year long contest, I know he won many of the week long ones, especially in bball....he sure was a pain in my back-side trying out-smart week-in & week-out; but, i was no match for his all-around sports intellect, but his sense of humor & good-fun trash-talking & pickin' on me was worth all the beatings i took from him.... He is missed & thought of on a daily basis here.
Here is a pic of the memorial sent on behalf of the RocketCorner & it's members, which is very fitting as he loved the outdoors, especially fishing & he & his wife took many a cruise as their vacations....
