here is a quick rundown of some of the people in the MC system with coaching experience at different levels.

Dusty Pester- he was the coach before Ty, extremely doubtful he would have any interest.........plus he also coaches golf and baseball at MC

Kerry Johnson- Not sure of his interest level, plus many schools frown on administrators as head coaches.

already mentioned...........Bryan Kuhlman, Steve Peck

Kevin Erford or Nick Pittman- jr. high coaches

Chris Rump, Dean Hermiller-Don't see these two switching over from the girls side, plus that would create another vacancy

Roy Wenzinger- I don't even think he is in the system, but was at one time. Good guy, limited experience.

The Lima News had an announcement about this opening, so there may be some outside interest

Correction, Andy Hermiller now coaches JH instead of Nick Pittman.

Add Andy hermiller to the list then.

Is Andy the one who played a few years ago? Scored 1000 points? The guy may be worth a look.

Jeremy Stober

Stober would be the perfect choice. Anytime a coaching vacancy occurs one would think his name would pop up. However I believe it is widely known that he is a Kalida guy throughout. He has been there along time and raised his family there. Can not see the move but who knows it is a head coaching job located between his roots and the place now known as his home.

Add one more option to the mix. P-G's coach Josh Klear takes the job to move home.

Ding Ding Ding... This one takes my vote.

There was an article in last week's Putnam Co. Sentinel that stated that MC would be accepting applications until this weekend.......I believe it also stated
that they expected to name a new coach by July 8?.........

if this is the case, I believe that the MC job has either been pretty much decided or they don't anticipate a large number of qualified applicants......

I know that we'll never really know who applied, or the number wink.gif
that is unless I can coerce someone in the know to spill the beans.......

MC is a pretty close knit community so I don't expect a lot of info to get out into the mainstream media unless they want it to....
I have asked a few of the young professionals who are hanging at the Buckeye Club with a lot more frequency to see if
they can get me some names......

and you know how it is here...............we want names!

I fully expect to be back here this weekend with the name of the next coach of the proud Wildcat program........RM

Interviews will conclude the 8th. Hope to name someone at the July 11th board meeting.

If MC was smart they either promote ( if Kuhlman wanted the job) or go outside. Erford is not varisty material. experience in the past w/ his from what has been seen is he lets too many parents lead him on what kids to play, shows to much favoritism. Doesn't know how to promote team ball focuses plays on one to two players only, not what you need at the varisty level.
Peck, not a good choice either, to much responsiblity for him( with sone in 8th grade and older son playing football).
Think best bet, Let Kuhlman have a shot if he wants it, or start completely new...

Wildthing,
I don't think a teaching job exists........that limits the choices from the outside substantially

I'm guessing that if they can't coerce Kuhlman into taking the position it might be one of the names you
had previously mentioned or perhaps even a different Kuhlman, Barlage, Hermiller, Lammers or Niese..... wink.gif
if I missed any please feel free to chime in........

it doesn't seem like the window for applicants and the time that a new coach will be named is very long......
like I had said before, that means one of two things.........RM

Well maybe we may all be surprised who puts in, but they shouldn't fill it just to fill it. THINK they need to think about it and what it will do to the program if they jump the gun to soon.

I should have the names of the 4 applicants Later tonight. they are scheduled for interviews and I will be camping out at miller city the next 2 nights to run the license plate numbers. they expect to name a coach by the 11th but we hope to be able to name the coach by the tenth. with all the miller city fans on this site and their hopes of keeping their selection secret I Expect this information to be harder than normal. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of interest At mac's. The young professionals at the buckeye club Seem to have a little more interest at this time.

Word from the east is that former MC coach Mark Zender is disappointed with recent decisions at Van Buren and has thrown his hat in the ringer at MC. Seems that he either was interested in the VB job or with the direction they took. Granite, its a long shot but it would allow MC to follow in the footprints of O-G in going back to their strong tradition.

No way in heck. That was not a clean breakup when it all went down around 10 years ago. Plus Marty has a son who will be a soph at OG that plays basketball.

^^ Agreed...if I remember correctly Zender did not leave on good terms. Has he even coached since he left MC??
