News flash coming out of Elida... sounds very interesting....anyone have insight into this development? Didn't the long time head coach Thompson call it a career after last season? Not sure who took over for the traditon rich program, but another interesting coaching development in Elida.

What a disappointing event happening over there at Elida. I was thinking they would have a season riding the bats of Hampshire,Zuber, and Martz.Hopefully this coaching change doesnt mess that up.. good luck Elida and sorry that your coach had to fail you guys just over a stupid incident that he had with some administator. Ps Mark thompson will be making the come back for the Bulldogs of elida this year.

I do not think this coaching change will effect them much. Thompson will do a great job with these kids like he has done before. This should an interesting in the WBL with Defience Elida and OG.

No, he wasnt involved at all. It was actually an attempt by Mark Miller to micomanage the baseball team to which he has no buisness in.but your ruthless attempt to keep bringing up the pizza caper shows your maturity level to be the same as the Boys that were involved in it. [they are 16 and 17 respectfully] Thats why they call you Rocketboy!keep up the good work.

downdawg,

Would you be able to be a little more precise as to what the issue was that caused him to resign? Thanks.

The boys told me that there was an argument between Randy Prince and Mark Miller in the hallway at EHS over Randy Prince having the players take down the screening around the fence. Miller made a big deal over it and threatened to resign as diamond dawg president. At that point Randy Apple became involved as to being micromanaged by Mark Miller and the end result was Randy Apple stepping forward and resiging. There may be more to this than what Im being told but Randy Apple was so upset he could'nt even speak to his players over the whole issue and had to leave it on the overhead that he had resigned and would not elaborate any further.Mark Thompson was involved coaching his daughter's softball team and quit that to return and calm the waters for good ole Mark Miller. What a shame.

So why does the head coach (a paid positon and 20+ year assistant varsity coach) end up resigning (forced maybe?) vs what sounds to be no more than an athletic booster (volunteer, non-paid) for the baseball program? Sounds to me like the one that threatened to resign, should have....and the head coach should have been able to stay put, be the head coach, and run the show- lead the kids like a head coach should be able to do.

Sounds like some behind the scenes politics went on...things don't add up. All this over a HIGH SCHOOL sport that is supposed to be about the kids - not adult egos.

I thought Mark Miller was the Director of Business for Elida Local Schools as this link implies. http://home.elida.k12.oh.us/administrative...ent.aspx?aid=38 . His duties appear to include facilities maintenance.
