Anyone know for sure what time finals start? Do they clear the gym before finals? Can't remember if they do that for WBL or just sectionals etc.

You would think in this day and age with all our technology that they would be able to post brackets and updates, etc. Dan Otten does a nice job of running the tournament - but, come on Dan - join the modern world. I have looked everywhere, and I mean everywhere and can't find any results -guess I'll hafta wait and watch ch. 44 for the finals.

Once again Jason Rostofer shows the person he really is. A very very poor sportsman. Just when you think he cant top himself he does again. Year after year he pushes the line and once again he has crossed it. One thing you need to remember Jason is that yes you have coached some great teams but we will all remember your unsportmanlike antics year after year. It is a shame for someone representing the wbl to act the way he does. Enjoy your championship Jason, we will all alway remember who you really are.

2fast08,

If you dont mind sharing.......I had to leave after 160 semi's. Up to that point I saw no issues from any teams. Did something happen later?

How bout you give some details 2fast. I was there the entire day. I never saw anything like that happen from Jason. I did see Bath's coach Westerbeck get in Wapak assistant coach Cossel's face after the 171 finals. Then the Bath fans acting with very little class after the last match of the night when Smith lost to Fleck in OT. Smith was warned for his hold and kept doing the same thing so the ref hit him again. Point Fleck. That was a lack of experience, period. Not a lack of sportsmanship. But Bath found it necessary to Boo Brad Fleck and his win. I hope you fans are proud of yourself for booing a teenage high school wreslter.

It sounds to me that you are too much of a sore loser because Wapak put a hurtin' on the WBL this year. But what do you expect. They returned 11 varsity wrestlers, and three state qualifiers including two placers. There are seven seniors on this team. Next year things will be back to the competitive nature they usually are I'm sure.

Sore loser, not quite, I gave him the credit for winning. Jason shows himself week after week, its quite a scene. And by the way, Wapak fans are wapak fans and thats all I have to say about that. They act just like their coach.

TO be honest I have never had a sour word to say to you at all... But to call all the Bath fans poor sports and then missdirect the Booing, like it was meant towards a wreslter is foolish and more directly a classless statement BY YOU... The "booing" was due to the poor officiating, the 10 minute delay that shouldnt have taken place and the poor calls of stalling, yes, I think that Aaron Smith should of been hit with the calls he was hit with, however same shoe different foot, the same stalling calls should of been hit on the other wrestler as well... It was ment directly at the official.
As far as the coach, I think the sour taste he gives everyone is his childish attempt to pump up the crowd instead of smiling and keeping his cool, AS A COACH, should do he felt it right to act like some fool from the WWF... Anyway, all that aside, I think it was a pretty good day of wrestling, a few upsets, a few lopsided matches I thought would have been closer but all in all a great showcase of wrestling from the WBL as a whole...

It goes both ways here people! I am a graduate of Wapakoneta and a former wrestler. I take great offense when 2fast08 gets on here and lumps all Wapak fans in one group.

Congrats to Wapak on wrestling a whale of a tourney, 7 champions. Elida looked like they might make it interesting early on, but fell flat in the consi semi's and finals, too bad. Some team drama on the mat would've been nice.

Would like to see Wapak and the rest of the WBL schools get quite a few out to Columbus this year.

Congratulations to Logan Erb, 4 time WBL champ... good luck on "the run".

and to Tyler Smith from Elida, 152# Champion as a freshman! smile.gif Go Bulldogs step it up next weekend.

2fast08 and sirrefman - It's obvious that you have a personal vendetta against Coast Rostorfer. Your attacks towards him are unwarranted, childish, and undeserving of any more of a response than that. It seems as though you are both on a first name basis with the coaching staff so if you really have such a problem with the coaches, why don't you just call them up and talk about it rather than hiding behind a screen name and calling them out on this public forum. What did you wish to gain?

The Redskin Wrestling family couldn't be more proud of the wrestlers and coaches for their accomplishments already this season. The second season is just beginning and it looks to be very exciting. Kudos for the time and effort you spent driving across the state twice so the team could experience State caliber wrestling. Kudos for all the extra time spent out at "the barn". Going the extra mile is going to pay off the next couple of weeks.

I, too, would like to congratulate Logan on his 4th WBL Championship. Congrats to all of the Wapak champions. They all have their unique stories and are deserving.

I truly hated to hear about Connor Massillo's injury. There is never a good time to have a season-ending injury but just before your state tournament run is clearly the worst. Wapak wrestling has a great deal of respect for Van Wert wrestling and is very sorry for the misfortune. Congrats to Hirschy for his title. He is also a classy kid and deserving.

It was nice to see the fan support and success for OG. Klausing and Siefker had a great day. Congrats!

Also nice to see Kenton experiencing some success. You would think with a football program like they have that the wrestling numbers would be higher but they are doing the best with what they have and won some big matches yesterday.

Aaron Smith is a beast, and it's great to see a new kid to the wrestling world win big matches. What a year he's had for his first. I don't know what grade he's in, but if he's back next year, he will be a force to be wreckened with more than he already is.

Unfortunately, the sectional tournament is yesterday all over again in many regards. I would like to tell the Wapak haters to stay home but I know that is unrealistic. I trust the Wapak boys and coaches will stay focused on the season-long goal of the state tournament and ignore idiotic statements made on here. As someone else already mentioned, the league should be pulling together now to get as many kids to Columbus as possible. Isn't that the ultimate prize?

I have to agree with this statement. Saturday at WBL my child was wrestling. I did not agree with something I perceived the opposing coach tell his athlete to do to my child. Instead of screaming and yelling, when the first break came, I approached the coach. I told him I would like to discuss something. He sat down with me, listened to me, and we talked respectfully to each other about the issue. He appreciated my concern as a parent and the situation was settled. No other fans had knowledge of my intense anger at any point. And since I approached the coach well after the incident, I had time to cool off and present my concerns in a firm but very respectful manner. I believe every coach at the tournament would appreciate that type of communication with fans and parents.

Good morning to all....Just here to comment on the 285 lb. match Fleck/Smith ...The stalling calls were not good against Smith...and I will tell you why...The rule states that when wrestlers are on their feet the offensive wrestler must make an ATTEMPT to return his opponent to the mat. Smith was making those attempts as Fleck was trying to escape. Had Coach Westerbeck questioned the official and asked for the opinion of the assistant official the first stalling call would have been removed ..hence...never a second stalling call and penalty point...

2fast, you still haven't provided any details to your accusations, so I have to assume like others have it's just personal vendetta as someone has already stated. I did not call the Bath fans poor sports, but they did boo when they should have just kept quiet. When a wrestler is getting his hand raised is no time to boo. As for the supposed bad calls, maybe coach westerbeck didn't question the official because he knew the call was right. They ref had warned Smith before hitting him with the first stall call.

Congrats to all Wapak wrestlers on their achievements this weekend. Keep it up this week too!

Just a thought here - maybe things wouldn't have been quite as bad as referenced to (I don't know as I was not there) if a certain someone had left somethings unsaid in the WLIO interview. Many times is is better to leave things unsaid and to ones self - than to make their thoughts known to the public. - Moving on - good luck to all at Sectionals - let's represent the WBL well and with class. If Wapak wrestles like they did this past weekend - could be Dist. Champs. Not sure how many underclass men they have (I know a large # of Sr.) - if enough and they place well at Dist. - maybe State Duals next year?
