QUOTE (160 @ Feb 9 2011, 01:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My predictions for individual Champs:
103- Martin (Wapak)
112- Plaugher (Shawnee)
119- Beemer (Wapak)
125- McDermitt (Shawnee)
130- Zizelman (St. Marys)
135- Doner (Celina)
140- Wiseman (Wapak) Cozadd (Celina)
145- Massillo (Van Wert)
152- Martinze (Defiance) Smith (Elida)
160- Brown (Wapak) Adrian Mack (Bath) or Seifker (OG) should be a great match
171- Siefker (OG) Chandler (Bath)
189- Hirschy (Van Wert)
215- Erb (Wapak)
285- Fleck (Wapak)

Mine would be somewhere around the ones I put up...
Chandler is the fav at 171 now that Seifker has dropped to 160.

They should win 103, 119, 215, hvy for sure. What are the other five they could take 1st place in?

This is a maybe. The two that 0160 added were a couple I was thinking of. I heard McDermit may be at 130 which to me would give Valentine the advantage for 125. 145 if Mauk can take Masillo again. That's won't be easy though!! And Beard at 189. All of these guys will be in the mix, but we'll have to wait till Sat. to find out! dry.gif

And, if Seifker goes 160, I think Hengstler will challenge for the top spot at 71.
I ignore Spongefag and Turn&Blow. :)

I think you might be right about McDermit. If that is the case finals at 25 could be Valentine and Miller (StMs). That would be a fun match to see. Seifker going 160 really throws a loop into the brackets. Where Brown and Mack would have been in opposite brackets I see them both in bottom bracket and Dukehart in top bracket.

SO any word of why its not on Baums? I swore I saw it earlier this year.
They run great tourneys... So im guessing rosters and the rest wont be around till Day of...
Either way there should be some really good battles...

Sir - my understanding is seeding won't take place until Sat. morning (this from a coach, but he could be putting me on - but doubt it). I do know from years past that alot of changes have been made the morning of the tournament -so maybe they decided to do the whole thing on Sat.? Also, alot the the past tournaments have been run by Tom Malieke (sp) - (sorry Tom) and Dave Bogner who have worked things out with Baums page. Since Dan Otten is running the tournament, maybe he is doing all the updates, seeding, etc. himself. Could be wrong though.

I thought I heard they would be doing seeding tomorrow night. I can't really confirm that though. It would be nice if they did it before Saturday though. I just hope the tournament runs smooth.

Nothing better than the "discussions" in the coaches room during the seeding meeting...
HAHAHA

34215 - You could be right - I do know for a fact (been there done that) that there are an awful lot of redraws on Sat. morning. I'll find out for sure tomorrow whether it's fomorrow / Sat. - but, won't be able to post until 3:45 or so.

It is really hard to believe that the WBL has to wait until Saturday morning to perform seeds. All these wrestlers have seen each other at least once, all the coaches have seen each other at least once. Don't they use the same type of software etc. that these giant tournaments that pull wrestlers from all over the country use and can seed one to two days out? However, I am sure it will be a great tournament. There are a number of weight classes where "revenge" is in the air.

Born - With the way things have been the last 6 yrs. with the alpha testing and individuals not having to have had more than one match at their lowest acceptable wt. class - it has made things more difficult (in some ways) to seed individuals who may / may not have decided what wt. to wrestle at leagues. Some have very few matches and non common opponets at one wt. -while several others have several matches but yet un common opponets. But with that being said - you would certainly think they would want a seeding meeting on Wed./ Thurs at least to have some idea as to who is going where. The problem is - let's take Siefker for example - if he's been injured (as they seem to say he has) do you enter him at 160 - seed him - and then risk him not making wt. / do you seed him at 171. OG could simply put OG on a line at 160 and 171 be non seeded and then make up their mind after checking Siefker's wt. on Sat. - then enter him at whichever wt. That really wouldn't be fair to the other wrestlers, but it's been done before (much to the anger of others). I guess what they are thinking is - rather than waste alot of time on a Wed. /Thurs. and redrawing several wt. classes on Sat. - just do the whole thing on Sat.

It makes sense to do it the day of concerning these circumstances, but I guess these problems have always been around. Maybe not as much before alpha testing though?? I don't know. I just hope things don't get delayed and the tourny runs smooth. Just about 24 hours till this starts!! biggrin.gif

Thanks for the response. This is one of the big reasons I like these forums, if you read what others have to say you may learn something new or change the way you think just a little. All of that makes sense, thanks again Mackreeks.
34215- I hope it runs smooth too.
It has been about 20 years since I have stepped foot in a Celina gym. Is the gym still the same one from the 80's? How is seating for fans going to be?

Celina's gym (field house I assume) is the same - they will be able to get 3 mats in, but it will be extremely crowded at finals. I remember when Joel Penton ( from Van Wert was wrestling his Jr. year against a Celina wrestler -both excellent wrestlers) and they had to run the backboard up because they were afraid if one or the other, threw the other they would hit the backboard. Those were two big boys now. It's a shame Joel didn't wrestle his senior year - he would have been fun to watch.

My freshman year, we wrestled WBL at Celina and I thought it was fine. We wrestled at the Fieldhouse though. THey had three mats and seating was up 3-4 steps. Kept everyone from being matside so I liked it. Hope all goes well. Start at 11:00, right?
If anyone knows where I can keep track of how things are going, please let me know. I live out-of-state so I can not be there.

I'm not sure how anyone will be able to keep track of the progress unless someone posts it on here. I'm sure the final results will be somewhere later tomorrow night, but who knows. The wrestling actually starts at 10:15.

There is the WBL sports site, but getting updates on that is like pulling teeth from a lion. I think they rely totally on the coaches. There is sportsbuzzohio.com which has good updates. He may keep up I don't know?

34215,
Starts at 10:15? That's a weird start time isn't it?

I don't know if I can, but will try to keep everyone updated (staying home, grilling out with beer included - hope I don't over grill). If you go to Celina HS web page - sports - Dan Otten - he may have results posted on there / someplace on that web page. Wouldn't guarentee anything though - maybe I won't be able to help at all. 10:15 is odd, but they usually start at 10 - so not much diff. - may be due to seeding Sat. morning.
